Drafts is an all-in-one writing automation tool, rapid notebook, and practical editor that transforms text into action with virtually endless possibilities. With just a few taps, you can send all of your writing from Drafts to other apps. Simply launch it and begin to type! Drafts has won numerous awards! ** - TIME Magazine's Best Apps, App of the Day - "Reader's Choice Award" from MacStories Why drafts are great: ## INVEST EVERYWHERE: Drafts starts a new page and has the keyboard open, ready for your words. Alternately, use dictation to work hands-free. Drafts enable you to capture ideas before you forget them, ensuring that they are constantly available. Your text will be available everywhere if you capture it on an Apple Watch, an iPhone, an iPad, a Mac, or any of these devices. THE WORDS YOU CHOOSE Text in Drafts can be copied, shared, or deep linked into other apps and services via actions. Drafts integrates with a ton of your preferred apps and services, so you can write a tweet, draft a message, create a file in Dropbox, or assign a task to Reminders. AVOID FORGETTING IT NOW OR LATER: The Inbox receives new submissions. Once there, you can organize them by tagging them, flagging them for significance, or archiving them for later use. RAISE THE STAGE OF YOUR TEXT: Create a unique look and feel for Drafts by adjusting the interface's many features, including the ability to choose your own fonts and set margins, line heights, and spacing. WORD PUBLISHING HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER: Drafts is similar to post-its updated for the smartphone era because it opens really quickly and supports capture via Siri, the widget, share extension, file import, and dictation.

A promising new app for privacy-minded consumers I used to love Evernote, but they got way too expensive and they violated the trust of their customer base. For those who want to support an app that respects the right to privacy while offering a feature-rich note-taking app, Notesnook is for you. Unlike most note-taking apps, Notesnook doesn't collect your personal data or identifiers, nor does it track you. They operate on the "zero knowledge" principle, where only you, the customer, can view your own content. As someone trying to reduce my "google footprint," this part is especially important to me. Notesnook is young in comparison to juggernauts like Evernote and Google Keep, so while they have a solid foundation that would attract most people, they are still in the process of adding features and functionalities that match their competition. That being said, I firmly believe in their mission. Whenever I encountered a bug or had a question, they were right there to help on discord. The head developer is approachable, courteous, knowledgeable and effective. Companies like his with a focus on open communication, transparency and customer feedback is deserving of patronage--the monthly fee is reasonable and I believe they'll offer different pricing options in the near future. Give Notesnook a try!

About Notesnook

A free and open source note-taking tool with a focus on user privacy and usability is called Notesnook. Notesnook encrypts everything on your device with XChaCha20-Poly1305 & Argon2 to guarantee zero knowledge principles. Notesnook serves as our example of how convenience need not (always) be sacrificed for privacy. Our aim is to give consumers complete assurance that their notes are safe and secure, giving them piece of mind. One of the most important steps in that direction is the choice to use only open source software. Open Source License Without the open source community's efforts, from the base (Linux) to the topmost (Java), Notesnook would not exist today (React). We have chosen to use a (A)GPLv3 license precisely because of this. Open source includes freedom, and we don't want to limit your freedom in any way. Notesnook's independent and self-funded development began in 2019. The initial edition, which incorporated our Pro plan with a subscription model, was introduced in April 2021. Since then, Notesnook has only been able to operate thanks to the generous subscription fees paid by our loyal customers. This gives us the freedom to decide what is best for your privacy on our own. Sincerely, we neither have the tools nor the expertise necessary to launch a capital round, nor do we have any plans to do so. VC-backed start-ups are fantastic, but in order to remain competitive and successful, they have to give up their individuality and independence. What distinguishes Notesnook from other note-taking apps that respect privacy? Everyone may take notes securely from beginning to end with the help of Notesnook, a user-focused note-taking tool. The vast majority of our less tech-savvy consumers who simply want to take notes without all the effort fall under this category. In essence, Notesnook seeks to provide a full substitute for other unreliable note-taking applications like Notion and Evernote. Since these technologies, let's face it, offer excellent productivity at the expense of your privacy.

This app helps one get a lot done on the iPad (or iPhone) that wouldn't be possible otherwise---even the free version. Paying a subscription has been worth it too. You just have to try it to see how it might be useful to you personally and if that justifies the price. I do less with the tag and workspace features than I perhaps could because I tend to use Bear for reference. Fortunately, there are users who know how to script and have come up with actions to make Drafts play well with Bear. Ditto other apps, including email. In the end, Drafts is kind of like a work environment in which one can begin all work with text. It's also good for cleaning up text from other sources. I have loved this app through several versions. One reason, I suspect, is because it continues to test the boundaries of what is possible in iOS. And one can actually customize one's work environment a bit. In other words, the app takes both the operating system and the user seriously. The subscription model has also led to a viable business plan, it seems, whereas I've seen other solid apps go neglected or get killed off for lack of ongoing funding and attention in a constantly changing computing environment and app market.

I’ve been using drafts since version 4 came out. It changed the way I work, and I love using it to enter and manipulate text. I’ve been playing around with Drafts 5 and the app is amazing. There’s so much power in the free app, and the pro subscriptions adds some great options for power users. Thing is, I’m not a power user, but I’m more than willing to pay for the features I use. My biggest issue is that I dislike and avoid app subscriptions. I like that when I pay for an app, even if the company disappears tomorrow, I can continue to use the app for years to come. I’m also not thrilled that dark mode is behind the subscription wall, I’d pay a few dollars to have a dark mode, I find it much easier on my eyes, but can’t justify the subscription just for dark mode, since it’s the only tool I would use from the subscription. Fortunately, I can continue using drafts 4 with its dark mode. Sure, I’ll miss out on all the new features in the free app, but that’s how much I dislike day mode. Just writing this review is burning my eyes. But my issues say nothing about the app itself which is wonderful. Definitely give the free mode a spin, and if you like scripting and having full control and aren’t opposed to renting apps, the sub is a great value. But for me it’s less than ideal as it’s currently set up. Hopefully down the line, the developer will consider making dark mode an optional in app purchase for those that don’t or can’t subscribe.

I never thought I needed an app like this, then I hear them talk about it all the time on Mac Power Users and Automators podcast so I thought I would give it a try. It seems overwhelming at first with all of the options but once you configure a few actions you’ll never go back. There is enough free to the app that you could use it without the IAP - I wouldn’t recommend it though, the customizable nature of the app is unlocked when you subscribe. Also, this dude is an indie dev so there isn’t multi unicorn level of funding keeping this product alive - you’re literally making this viable for him, so hit subscribe - you’ll thank me later. Also, the quick dictate function on the watch is a GAME CHANGER. Tap the complication, tap the microphone and record your thought. Then when you have time to process, open the app on your iPhone/Mac and manipulate the text with the actions. It literally lets you dump what you’re thinking into an app with the least amount of friction. The best part is the text isn’t stuck in this app, which is the whole point. Give it a go!

Notesnook reviews

So far this app is fantastic! Very intuitive. The UI is nice as well. Love the security features. Great work! Will be subscribing to pro very soon! One suggestion is to add the ability to choose a notebook to save a quick note to when making a quicknote from chrome mobile. One small issue is that sometimes the UI goes off the bottom of the page on my LG V30 phone. I imaginge that will be fixed.

Loving it so far! Simple, safe and efficient, exactly what I'm looking for. The only complaint is that adding pics to notes isn't a very smooth experience. I can't drag pictures around, and sometimes if i want to add words after the picture i can't find the cursor.

- Yanting-Leah Li

Pretty great so far. It is exactly what it is advertised to be. The ability to organize notes via notebooks is amazing. The ability to have sections within sections would be very useful, as would a whiteboard or sketch feature, such as the one Samsung Notes has. Otherwise, this app is very useful!
