One of the things that caught my attention in italki were the teachers, most of them are kind and intelligent people who do their job, they have everything previously well planned and offer a good teaching plan which if you follow it to the letter you will certainly learn what they are teaching you.

The negative part would be that the teachers take a long time to answer your questions because they are busy with other students and it is quite annoying.

Yabla has videos that are current and relevant. Utilizing real language that is relatable to students is great so that they stay engaged. There are different levels of videos, so some are perfect for beginners, while others are more advanced. Having captions is nice for the reading component.

For foreign language learners, in my view, Yabla's multiple and multiple kinds of videos from native speakers fill the gap between the usual grammar/vocab courses - such as are usually taught in Anglophone schools/univs etc - and real live German radio/television/films etc. Even with the best of grammar course, this gap is too wide to bridge without some intensive work with material and exercises of the kind offered by Yabla - in fact I don't know of any alternative for this particular stage of language learning.
