As a professional writer and editor, I find the program extremely helpful and easy to use. It updates it's dictionary on the fly, and takes the work out of typing repetitive words and phrases. The program tries guessing every word you type, which makes the pop-up suggestions at times annoying. But after I got used to it, it wasn't a big deal.

Free word processing software called AbiWord is comparable to Microsoft Word. It is appropriate for many different types of word processing activities. Free and straightforward word processing software. When it comes to word processing, the majority of people think of Microsoft Word, yet the program may be quite expensive if it isn't included by default. Consider a substitute like AbiWord. AbiWord can read and write all common industry document formats, including those produced by open source programs like OpenOffice and commercial programs like Microsoft Word. Additionally, it offers support for WordPerfect files, documents in the Rich Text format, HTML web pages, etc. AbiWord is definitely worth a try if you're looking for simplicity. It has been around for a while, and although its appearance may be a touch archaic, its functioning is not. AbiWord is best characterized as uncluttered. If you want a distraction-free writing environment, it is perfect. There include all the fundamentals, including auto-saving and grammar and spelling checks. I also like that it not only helps in my Outlook Email but also when writing on the web, in Microsoft Applications, Gmail, Linkedin, Salesforce and much more.

Best of all, you can use it without having to open a separate piece of software. The app works flawlessly with Microsoft Office and Google Chrome, and you can trigger the Lightkey Anywhere function to have it humming along in any application. Compatible with more than 80 languages, the program is also available offline—removing any concern your work will be uploaded to the cloud. Pricing is a little steep i dont think i'd want to pay 30-50 dollars for a text editor where there is alot of sublime text with dev packages achieving the same thing

Henry Kingman write about the new release: Anyway, to make a long story short, Abiword 2.6.2 really *does* look impressive. There are amazingly futuristic features, like hooks into Web services, pop-out font previews, and presentation mode, combined with a dead-simple interface that is miles better than OO.org's. Just a real pleasure to use.
