“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

I joined MeWe after the election as a Facebook Refugee. I’m a fiction author and invested a lot of money in FB ads to promote my books. While I gained followers, sales were just okay. I still have my FB Author account but deleted my personal account because of FBs lack of privacy practices. I created a new personal MeWe account. Most of my family and friends have stayed with FB. Unfortunately, the ick factor on MeWe is the same as any social media site, single men sending me contact requests. Geez, people, got to Tinder, creeps! There’s a learning curve to weeding this type of thing out, but so far I enjoy the newsfeed and groups I’ve joined. I paid for the membership but learning a whole new platform is confusing for someone my age. I noticed on this blog you have icons in the left sidebar linking to FB, Twitter, Pinterest, IN and Instagram but not to your MeWe page. Is there a reason for that? I was hoping to add a MeWe share link to my author website but haven’t figured out how to do it. Can you help with that or is it even possible? Thank you for your insight into the platform and keeping your review up to date. I look forward to your answer.
Teri GreenMeWe began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a vision hatched over a dinner between good friends who were early founders of social media. With Facebook all the rage, they felt something critically human was getting lost: the spirit of our democracy and the backbone of our privacy. The big technology companies, you know who they are, had reverted to treating us as commodities. They somehow mistook people signing up to use their services as a welcome invitation to target, track, spy, and sell our information to advertisers and the government. All in all, it felt pretty creepy. MeWe founder, Mark Weinstein, dreamed of the next generation in online communications, envisioning a social and chat app that would give people everywhere the most exciting and helpful sharing technology with privacy built into the design - where members would feel safe and respected. Mark relocated to Mountain View, California, in the backyard of technology’s established Goliaths, and built a worldwide team of visionary individuals - fun, good people determined to revolutionize social media and build a new platform to go head-to-head with Facebook and restore decency, privacy, and respect for social media users. Mark created the Sgrouples beta project, hiring an engineering team to design and build the world’s first social network with privacy-by-design for its members. The 3-year Sgrouples beta project served as the testing platform for the launch of MeWe. Making its official launch during SXSW 2016 (South by Southwest), MeWe was honored as the 2016 Start-Up of the Year Finalist for “Innovative World Technology.” World-renowned thought leaders proudly serve on MeWe’s Advisory Board, including the inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee. MeWe is the visionary culmination of years of determined efforts, research, and development to provide people around the world with a communication network they love and trust.
Best trick to save money traveling What do you like best about CouchSurfing? I have been using this app for a couple of years now and I love the benefit of saving money while I travel and meeting locals to have a more authentic experience. I use it to save money and connect. It makes me feel part of a travel tribe, and it was such an original app to start with, I even used it when I moved to a new city to create connections. My first contact with it was through a roomate that was already using it, some ladies stayed with us and I just loved this easygoing, new experience and adventurous. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about CouchSurfing? Because of covid and the low usage of that app, they were not making enough money, and now we need to pay either monthly or yearly. I wouldn´t say I like this extra payment because the idea is to save money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering CouchSurfing: Obviously, be safe and check people´s profiles and check their socials to see if they are not fake. It is better to be safe than sorry, and a little digging doesn´t hurt anyone, especially if you are a solo female traveler like me. But the recommendation works fine, and if the person has excellent reviews, it should be trustworthy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is CouchSurfing solving and how is that benefiting you? The problem of being hard to meet locals when you are traveling and connecting with people when moving to a new place. You also solve the problem of not being sure if you can trust a person because the recommendation feature is available, and you can chat with the person and see how others felt about staying at their place. Additionally, there is a part where the person can add pictures and describe where you will sleep.

It's stable and reliable. Love how the Premium membership is only advertised once for the day and not constantly. People are afraid that all the conspiracy theorists might be here, but you control what you see, and who sees you, so it's not an issue. Needs lots more users. It's a replacement, for me. I sent them a suggestion about making the pages bordless. That little bit of cropping isn't necessary. Only reason I took a star.

Been on the app for a couple of months after dumping FB. Not too bad of an experience. App is fairly polished and runs well on a 2 year old phone. I'm not a big fan of the automatic notifications. You will get pinged every time someone in a group posts, messages, requests a contact, etc. You can shut all of this off however pretty easily. Overall, I'm pleased with the app and I still use just the free version.

Been on Mewe a few days now and I really like it. Using it has a pretty small learning curve because it's a lot like FB without all the ads, personal information theft, and data mining. Something I think that could use improvement is posting articles and stuff from other sites. Seems like a lot of times it just wants to post the link and not a headline or really anything to go with it. Not a dealbreaker though by any means. Great app!

I stayed with Chiara, and Lorenzo. They were such great hosts from making me feel welcome, to great conversations; and great food! I had a great experience with couch surfing, and recommend it to anyone!

"Great concept, UX and UI could use some work. I think the site could be wildly more popular." What do you like best about CouchSurfing? I like the camaraderie and openness - it's a good feeling to know there are generous and friendly people in the world. I often check the site when traveling. I think the site could be wildly more popular if the design was better looking and had a more unique look and navigation that had an easier flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about CouchSurfing? It's all about the flow of the site, I do wish it was more Airbnb streamlined and easy to navigate and less craigslist. It's a challenge navigating from one profile to another - it would be great if once you click on a user's profile you could then navigate to another without having to go back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering CouchSurfing: It's a great site for expanding your networking and creating a community in a new area. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is CouchSurfing solving and how is that benefiting you? again knowing that there are good, honest, warm people around is just amazingly comforting even if you don't actually meet them.

"CouchSurfed during a motorcycle trip from Virginia to Texas" What do you like best about CouchSurfing? The CouchSurfing community is incredibly welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed the feeling of staying with a friend versus staying in a hotel or even an AirBNB. I made new friendships, bonded with my hosts and learned about lifestyles & interests that were new to me. Hanging out to watch TV, or meet hosts' friends over a beer are memories that will last forever. They added to my trips in ways I didn't anticipate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about CouchSurfing? The only real downside is it can take a lot of effort to find a bite for hosts. The amount of inquiries and connections needed for a single stay may be daunting for some users. Given the nature of hosting a stranger for free on your couch, it's not terribly surprising though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering CouchSurfing: Forget any stigma about staying on a stranger's couch. It's not shady or weird or icky. It's a great way to meet people and make lasting friendships. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is CouchSurfing solving and how is that benefiting you? There are a few problems that were solved with CouchSurfing: Price/Budget - having somebody host you overnight for free, especially on their sofa is a huge benefit to keeping long road trip budgets in check. With a light pack and some smart food planning, lodging becomes one of, if not the biggest expense. Cutting that out helps make long bike trips affordable. Location - With most road trips, there may not be as many lodging or AirBNB options available in certain areas. I found that basing my trips around CouchSurfing destinations added interesting stops to the trip. Adventure/Interest/Bonding - Hotels and AirBNBs are fine for getting a roof over your head for the night. But I loved the personal connections that I made with my hosts. They were friendly, warm, and opened up their extended friend network to me. The memories from those connections made every trip better.
