“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

A promising new app for privacy-minded consumers I used to love Evernote, but they got way too expensive and they violated the trust of their customer base. For those who want to support an app that respects the right to privacy while offering a feature-rich note-taking app, Notesnook is for you. Unlike most note-taking apps, Notesnook doesn't collect your personal data or identifiers, nor does it track you. They operate on the "zero knowledge" principle, where only you, the customer, can view your own content. As someone trying to reduce my "google footprint," this part is especially important to me. Notesnook is young in comparison to juggernauts like Evernote and Google Keep, so while they have a solid foundation that would attract most people, they are still in the process of adding features and functionalities that match their competition. That being said, I firmly believe in their mission. Whenever I encountered a bug or had a question, they were right there to help on discord. The head developer is approachable, courteous, knowledgeable and effective. Companies like his with a focus on open communication, transparency and customer feedback is deserving of patronage--the monthly fee is reasonable and I believe they'll offer different pricing options in the near future. Give Notesnook a try!
HerRoyalSnarkinessA free and open source note-taking tool with a focus on user privacy and usability is called Notesnook. Notesnook encrypts everything on your device with XChaCha20-Poly1305 & Argon2 to guarantee zero knowledge principles. Notesnook serves as our example of how convenience need not (always) be sacrificed for privacy. Our aim is to give consumers complete assurance that their notes are safe and secure, giving them piece of mind. One of the most important steps in that direction is the choice to use only open source software. Open Source License Without the open source community's efforts, from the base (Linux) to the topmost (Java), Notesnook would not exist today (React). We have chosen to use a (A)GPLv3 license precisely because of this. Open source includes freedom, and we don't want to limit your freedom in any way. Notesnook's independent and self-funded development began in 2019. The initial edition, which incorporated our Pro plan with a subscription model, was introduced in April 2021. Since then, Notesnook has only been able to operate thanks to the generous subscription fees paid by our loyal customers. This gives us the freedom to decide what is best for your privacy on our own. Sincerely, we neither have the tools nor the expertise necessary to launch a capital round, nor do we have any plans to do so. VC-backed start-ups are fantastic, but in order to remain competitive and successful, they have to give up their individuality and independence. What distinguishes Notesnook from other note-taking apps that respect privacy? Everyone may take notes securely from beginning to end with the help of Notesnook, a user-focused note-taking tool. The vast majority of our less tech-savvy consumers who simply want to take notes without all the effort fall under this category. In essence, Notesnook seeks to provide a full substitute for other unreliable note-taking applications like Notion and Evernote. Since these technologies, let's face it, offer excellent productivity at the expense of your privacy.
I love the feel and layout to this app. I can organize and see my individual lists in a simple way. BUT it is missing 1 big thing and has 1 minor annoyance. It is missing the ability to have daily repeating lists. If you don’t intend to have everyday repeating things on this app, then ignore this part and see the annoyance below. However I have a daily list for the things I need/want to accomplish every common day, but I can’t mark each item complete or I’ll have to retype them tomorrow. Why can’t I set daily repeating reminders for the same time for at least 1 list?! I just don’t touch my daily list, I look at it and it’s ordered how I go about it and I just have to know what is and isn’t done. The annoyance....I like the dark purple theme, it looks great on my lists. But my upper tier list (the list of your lists) doesn’t follow that theme, that tier is ugly bright yellow/orange that I can’t read well, so I can’t use the purple theme on my lower lists because of its opposite effect on the upper tier. If the theme I choose isn’t going to be universal across all my lists, then let me at least change the other tier theme to something else. The dark themes are the only ones that stay constant on both tiers. I’ll stick with boring black or noir until that’s fixed....
Tommy_CanadaClear is incomparable to any other to-do list application that we have tried. It takes the most advantage of the iPhone's multitouch interface of any to-do list app we've tested, using swipes and pinches to not only control the screen you're looking at but also navigate through the app. This is our top pick for best use of the iPhone's multitouch interface. It gives the impression that it provides a workflow that was developed specifically for use on the iPhone. In addition to that, the way it appears to the eye is very well thought out. Despite this, we have no plans to replace our current to-do app with Clear. When using Clear, you will have an experience that is pleasant, productive, and, well, cool. The interface is the point at which everything begins. Clear makes excellent use of the multitouch capabilities already present in Apple's iOS operating system. You won't find any traditional user interface elements like buttons, checkboxes, or anything else like that on this page. Instead, everything in Clear is accomplished through the use of gestures. Do you want to make a fresh list of things to do? Navigate to the page that contains the main list overview, and then drag the lists down. There will soon be a new one. The process of including items on to-do lists follows the same format. By pinching into the middle of the screen, you can move up one level in the app's hierarchy, moving from the to-do level to the list level or from the list level to the settings level, depending on which level you are currently on. Simply swiping from left to right across an item will mark it as finished. Simply starting over will undo that completion. Swipe the screen in the opposite direction to delete it. When it comes to reordering to-dos, you can forget about the standard method of tapping, holding, and dragging on the icon depicting three bars, which is required by the majority of apps. Simply tap the to-do list item, and then drag it. It's not a huge adjustment, but it does sound and read much better. In addition to this, there is intelligence incorporated into to-do lists themselves. For instance, every list features a color-coding system that uses a more prominent font for the items that are considered higher priorities. The items at the very top of the list are displayed in a brilliant red color (this is the default; you can select from a variety of other color schemes), and the colors of the items that follow progress further and further down the spectrum. In addition, there is no prioritization system in place for these items. Simply move an item to a different location in the list, and Clear will automatically assign it a different color based on its priority. When it comes down to it, Clear is a stunning illustration of the kinds of potent and natural apps that can be crafted using the iOS platform.
So far this app is fantastic! Very intuitive. The UI is nice as well. Love the security features. Great work! Will be subscribing to pro very soon! One suggestion is to add the ability to choose a notebook to save a quick note to when making a quicknote from chrome mobile. One small issue is that sometimes the UI goes off the bottom of the page on my LG V30 phone. I imaginge that will be fixed.

Loving it so far! Simple, safe and efficient, exactly what I'm looking for. The only complaint is that adding pics to notes isn't a very smooth experience. I can't drag pictures around, and sometimes if i want to add words after the picture i can't find the cursor.

Pretty great so far. It is exactly what it is advertised to be. The ability to organize notes via notebooks is amazing. The ability to have sections within sections would be very useful, as would a whiteboard or sketch feature, such as the one Samsung Notes has. Otherwise, this app is very useful!

Used for years on iPhone happy to rediscover it on Android. Simple, fast, and without confusing overhead. It is more basic gestures wise than to older iPhone app. Hopefully it regains the lost gestures/features like sounds and more. I miss the pinch open to insert an item. Now you have to add then drag and drop. Used to be able to pinch to collapse and close to go back. Several other gestures are lacking.

Been using this app for years and literally couldn’t live without it. As a teacher I constantly have separate lists of things to do and this allows me to keep everything organized and prevents me from having a million sticky notes all over the place that I forget to take with me. The only thing I wish this app had was the ability to send lists to someone, especially if they have the same app. For instance, I use this most for grocery lists and would love to be able to share the list with whoever is shopping with me so we can work on the list together. Would be reallyyyyy cool if you could find a way to work on the same list together (when I swipe something, it does the same thing on their list etc).

I have been using this app for years and love it. It is simple to use when you want to make quick notes and lists, but it also provides options and settings that allow you to do more organization of lists if you want. I recently got a new iPhone and was no longer able to sync between devices. After doing everything I could to work out the problem myself, I contacted Clear via email. They responded within 24 hours with the perfect solution to my problem. I could not be more impressed in a time when good customer service is hard to come by. Thanks, Clear!!
