Most popular feedback for OmniOutliner 5

When testing and reviewing OmniOutliner 5, I used the following criteria to find out if it’s a practical tool: Ease of use Functionality Affordability Additional features OmniOutliner meets all these criteria except affordability. The platform is a bit expensive for the number of features offered. If you’re looking to save money in the short term, you might opt for the $4.99 per month plan. However, this limits your options, and many free tools like Draft can do the same thing. OmniOutliner meets the other criteria. It’s easy to use since the dashboard is straightforward, it streamlines your creative processes, and other additional features like multitasking empower busy individuals’ lives.

About OmniOutliner 5

This is version 5 of OmniOutliner, an app that allows you to create, collect, and organize information as well as ideas. It is adaptable, slim, and focused. It's easy to get started with OmniOutliner Essentials because it includes everything you require. The Pro version includes additional useful features, such as smart columns, password protection, keyboard shortcuts, and a great deal more. You can get a free trial of both! Make use of an outline to provide new ideas with structure, rearrange them, and produce beautiful papers that can be shared using themes that are built-in. But it is so much more than simply an outline tool; you get several columns, intelligent checkboxes, pop-up lists, and a styles system that is quite robust. Create a straightforward to-do list, design an agenda for a meeting, make notes, organize events, write anything from diaries to scripts, and carry out any other activity that requires the use of structured text. FREE DEMO VERSION You will have access to all of the Essentials and Pro features throughout the free trial period that lasts for two weeks. After the trial period is up, you will be able to keep using OmniOutliner to view documents at no further cost. ESSENTIALS EDITION FEATURES (AVAILABLE VIA IN-APP PURCHASE) • Filters: To do a speedy keyword filter, you can use the search field located on the toolbar. The number of rows, words, and characters in the document are all displayed in the bottom bar of the window. • Distraction-Free Mode: When you transition to full screen, the toolbar will be hidden for you automatically. • Side Margins: You can set the width of your outline independently of the width of your display by dragging the boundaries of the margins. • Highlighting of the Cell: In order to provide you with additional context, the cell that is currently being edited has its left edge highlighted. • Touch Bar: To quickly access features, use the Touch Bar and change its settings as needed. • Dark Mode: The user interface of OmniOutliner will adjust to match the theme of your project. • Bottom Padding: As a result of the additional padding that was provided below the outlines, you will no longer be required to type at the bottom of the window. • If you want to maintain your eye line consistent while using Typewriter Mode, make sure the current row is in the middle of the screen. • New File Format: OmniOutliner 5 utilizes a new file format known as.ooutline, which is a compressed, flat file that is better compatible with cloud services provided by third-party companies. • Compatibility with Pro Documents: Documents that have Pro features can be viewed in their entirety in Essentials, and there is also the option to import a copy that has all of the Pro content removed. PRO FEATURES (AVAILABLE VIA IN-APP PURCHASE) • Filters: You can create and save complicated filters that are dependent on the status of columns, the data in those columns, and boolean operations. • Encryption with a Password: Protecting Your Documents with a Keystroke or Two (AES-256 encryption). • Slide-in Sidebars: When viewing content in full screen mode, you can temporarily bring up the sidebars by dragging the pointer to the screen's left or right edge. • A preview of the style you are checking is displayed at the top of the inspectors. I love the feel and layout to this app. I can organize and see my individual lists in a simple way. BUT it is missing 1 big thing and has 1 minor annoyance. It is missing the ability to have daily repeating lists. If you don’t intend to have everyday repeating things on this app, then ignore this part and see the annoyance below. However I have a daily list for the things I need/want to accomplish every common day, but I can’t mark each item complete or I’ll have to retype them tomorrow. Why can’t I set daily repeating reminders for the same time for at least 1 list?! I just don’t touch my daily list, I look at it and it’s ordered how I go about it and I just have to know what is and isn’t done. The annoyance....I like the dark purple theme, it looks great on my lists. But my upper tier list (the list of your lists) doesn’t follow that theme, that tier is ugly bright yellow/orange that I can’t read well, so I can’t use the purple theme on my lower lists because of its opposite effect on the upper tier. If the theme I choose isn’t going to be universal across all my lists, then let me at least change the other tier theme to something else. The dark themes are the only ones that stay constant on both tiers. I’ll stick with boring black or noir until that’s fixed....

About Clear Todos

Clear is incomparable to any other to-do list application that we have tried. It takes the most advantage of the iPhone's multitouch interface of any to-do list app we've tested, using swipes and pinches to not only control the screen you're looking at but also navigate through the app. This is our top pick for best use of the iPhone's multitouch interface. It gives the impression that it provides a workflow that was developed specifically for use on the iPhone. In addition to that, the way it appears to the eye is very well thought out. Despite this, we have no plans to replace our current to-do app with Clear. When using Clear, you will have an experience that is pleasant, productive, and, well, cool. The interface is the point at which everything begins. Clear makes excellent use of the multitouch capabilities already present in Apple's iOS operating system. You won't find any traditional user interface elements like buttons, checkboxes, or anything else like that on this page. Instead, everything in Clear is accomplished through the use of gestures. Do you want to make a fresh list of things to do? Navigate to the page that contains the main list overview, and then drag the lists down. There will soon be a new one. The process of including items on to-do lists follows the same format. By pinching into the middle of the screen, you can move up one level in the app's hierarchy, moving from the to-do level to the list level or from the list level to the settings level, depending on which level you are currently on. Simply swiping from left to right across an item will mark it as finished. Simply starting over will undo that completion. Swipe the screen in the opposite direction to delete it. When it comes to reordering to-dos, you can forget about the standard method of tapping, holding, and dragging on the icon depicting three bars, which is required by the majority of apps. Simply tap the to-do list item, and then drag it. It's not a huge adjustment, but it does sound and read much better. In addition to this, there is intelligence incorporated into to-do lists themselves. For instance, every list features a color-coding system that uses a more prominent font for the items that are considered higher priorities. The items at the very top of the list are displayed in a brilliant red color (this is the default; you can select from a variety of other color schemes), and the colors of the items that follow progress further and further down the spectrum. In addition, there is no prioritization system in place for these items. Simply move an item to a different location in the list, and Clear will automatically assign it a different color based on its priority. When it comes down to it, Clear is a stunning illustration of the kinds of potent and natural apps that can be crafted using the iOS platform.

OmniOutliner 5 reviews

I've been trying to use Omnioutliner for a couple years. I love the idea of it. I certainly see the potential. However, if you want to hear a user cussing at his Mac, come by when I'm trying to do somethign in this tool. It might be the least intuative piece of software I try to use. - Promoting and demoting- easy tab and shift tab, unelss it defaults for some reason to makeing every return a child. .and then I have search teh manual to figure out why. - Open a OPML Doc. and half the functionaliy is missing. Can not figure out how to update or save as the right file.. - Formating is clugey, have to figure you inspector or formatting window you want, It's a long list for me. Maybe I'm just not that saavy or have a block when it comes to this tool, .. here we are. The good news, and why it has three stars, when I do finally figure out how to make it work, it's great. Sadly that's about 1/2 the time

This outliner app is just clunky and awful compared to other Omnigroup products. Try editing an outline at all or dragging parts of the outline around. You just can’t. Or at least I couldn’t drag a subheading from one top-level heading to another. Also, Select all doesn’t work, but you can hold down shift and select multiple items individually? Not great to introduce friction into an outlining app. I feel like I’m back in the early/mid-nineties when drag and drop wasn’t universal and people were just figuring out intuitive elements of the UI. For $10? No thanks. I’d rather outline things in Omnifocus, as silly as that sounds, but it’s actually way superior app for the task. Save your money and just get OF and export as taskpaper.

I'm unsure what some of the reviewers are experiencing when complaining about cumbersome syncing. When I save an outline to iCloud, it syncs seemlessly across Mac OS and iOS. I can then simply open the file, make any changes, close the file and all changes immediately sync across all devices. Maybe the issue was fixed in response to the reviews. Maybe the reviewers were confused or need instruction on using their devices. Either way, do not let those reviews discourage you from purchasing this great app. Syncing with iCloud is fast, easy and intuitive.

Clear Todos reviews

Used for years on iPhone happy to rediscover it on Android. Simple, fast, and without confusing overhead. It is more basic gestures wise than to older iPhone app. Hopefully it regains the lost gestures/features like sounds and more. I miss the pinch open to insert an item. Now you have to add then drag and drop. Used to be able to pinch to collapse and close to go back. Several other gestures are lacking.

Been using this app for years and literally couldn’t live without it. As a teacher I constantly have separate lists of things to do and this allows me to keep everything organized and prevents me from having a million sticky notes all over the place that I forget to take with me. The only thing I wish this app had was the ability to send lists to someone, especially if they have the same app. For instance, I use this most for grocery lists and would love to be able to share the list with whoever is shopping with me so we can work on the list together. Would be reallyyyyy cool if you could find a way to work on the same list together (when I swipe something, it does the same thing on their list etc).

I have been using this app for years and love it. It is simple to use when you want to make quick notes and lists, but it also provides options and settings that allow you to do more organization of lists if you want. I recently got a new iPhone and was no longer able to sync between devices. After doing everything I could to work out the problem myself, I contacted Clear via email. They responded within 24 hours with the perfect solution to my problem. I could not be more impressed in a time when good customer service is hard to come by. Thanks, Clear!!
