“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

Recommended by a friend. ReadEra is my first ebook reader, so I don't really have anything to judge it against. That said, it does break words in some strange places in order to maintain full page/column width and I REALLY wish there was an option to sort books by author. It would also be nice to have a few more options for text and background colors. These few things don't detract from the fact that this version of ReadEra is very easy to use and free.

ZoomText is a powerful program with many great features, BUT think twice before investing the money. AI Squared sells primarily to government organizations purchasing items for clients. We all know what happens in industries where government funds are the primary sources of revenue. Companies become arrogant and overpriced. For example, in addition to ZoomText's excessive price, they offer little or no support between operating systems. I have owned 3 versions of ZoomText. Every time I upgrade my operating system, I have to BUY the new version (or the "upgrade" to a new version) for my ZoomText. AI Squared produces a new version of its product every time Windows produces a new operating system, and the old version WILL NOT work on a new operating system. That's right, it is not backwards compatible--built in obsolescence. Programmers could simply produce a patch for the new operating system, but instead the company takes the opportunity to fleece customers out of $200 to $300 (used to be more). The company just assumes that most customers will use a government program and funding to buy the upgrade; so, it doesn't bother them that many clients can't afford the upgrade. Windows and OSX now offers many of the same features offered by ZoomText including magnification, reading, and even converting text to audio files--if you own recent versions you have these features for free. But even if you don't, instead of spending the money on ZoomText, with just a little more money, you can actually buy a Mac which offers features superior to ZoomText embedded in the OS. So, instead of investing into this cycle, just through a few more dollars into the computer and the accessibility features you need, without the constant expensive upgrades.
majorZoomText is a screen magnification application that allows users with low vision to enlarge and modify the visual experience on the computer screen. Some of the features include: Allows a broad range of screen magnification between 1-36x Built-in technology that makes the display of text at all levels of magnification smooth and easy to read Read documents directly from Word, etc. Ability to modify and enhance screen colors to reduce eye strain Allows you to modify your mouse and text cursors to make finding them on the screen easier Ability to turn text from documents, web pages, email, etc. into audio recordings Support for multiple monitors
I was very tired of a previous reader app because it was so full of ads as to make it difficult to read even one book. I installed this app and it searched my phone for all PDF documents and then presented them in a nice list on the screen - very cool. Updating this review after becoming re-inspired to take up reading again. Reinstalled this app (on a new phone). I discovered that the volume up/down button takes me forward or backward a page at a time. No more swiping! Fantastic usability!!

Best e-reader I tried. I've been using it for 3 years without complaints. I wanted to suggest the addition of reading tracker (stats per day, month, year). Right now, I'm tracking this on another app but I think that a lot of people wanting to read more would enjoy such feature. I also want to mention the text selection tool and how frustrating it can be. I understand it is small characters on a small screen, but it feels like the cursors jump around randomly between lines.

I am still new to this app. I don't believe I've exploited her to her greatest potential, and thus I have offered her little opportunity to disappoint. I can say that I have made full use of its dark mode function, which displays not only .doc files as white-on-black, but also inverts the colors of .pdfs, which is quite helpful when accessing text-based pdfs. I am currently reading a William S. Burroughs novel, after which I will read the latest edition of SCAB Magazine.

My wife is legally blind. She uses the program and tools everyday. ZoomText 10 has many new features and improvements.

Used this for at least 15 years. In the beginning was an outstanding, enabling breakthrough for which I was grateful. Company continues to add features and it's better by far than OS accessibility. Best dedicated low vision PC solution. Recently they seem to be struggling. Their are quite a few bugs. Not entirely compatible with Office 365. Price remains high including upgrades, while the cost of other software has declined. No subscription SASS model.

This product works well for the most part but it suffers from numerous bugs that require me to restart ZoomText several times a day. This product has many features, but I never use most of them. Would certainly prefer a product with fewer features and also fewer bugs. Here are a few of the bugs that drive me crazy with this product. Windows XP Seems to disable the start menu after a few hours of use. Restarting the application will restore your start menu. Windows 7 Disables task bar, alt tab etc (the only way to switch between applications is to minimize, but as you can't maximize this only works one way). Only way to get around this is to turn off magnification with the hot key (computer will crash if you don't) bring up the windows task manager and then kill Zoom Text from there. Another common difficulty is attempting to use the app reader to read long web pages. It has to process the entire page before it can start so this will either take a long time (sometimes several minutes) or crash the computer depending on how long the web page is. There seems to be no way to cancel once you realize it is going to take a long time. Another problem the App reader seems to develop after a few hours of use is that it will begin reading froma random part of the document and not allow you to direct it to the portion of the document you want it to read. This can be resolved by restarting the application but it is very annoying. It also disables aero under windows 7, something the windows magnifier seems to operate just dandily without having to do. This product goes a long way to make the computer more accessible for those with visual impairments, but the bugs, of which I have only mentioned a few drive me crazy. Hopefully the next release will focus on fixes and performance instead of features.
