Most popular feedback for Evie – The eVoice book reader

This is my favorite reader app- and I've tried MANY. Thank you so much. I love being able to correct pronunciation now, too. Sometimes the speech engine might be ignoring those, but I also haven't tried the paid options yet. Someday I hope to be able to rename files and organize them in folders, and make the lockscreen controls bigger when driving, but really those are more suggestions than complaints. Thank you again!

About Evie – The eVoice book reader

Text To Speech (TTS) is a program that turns written text into an auditory narrative, and Evie uses it to read books. The outstanding Amazon Polly Text To Speech engine, which is integrated with Evie, is from Amazon. To create speech that sounds like human speech, Polly, a cloud service, makes use of cutting-edge deep learning algorithms. Any installed TTS engine on your phone can also be used by Evie. Evie contains capabilities that are often seen in music player applications in addition to the functionality you would expect to find in reading apps: Even when the screen is off and Evie is reading in the background, she can still read aloud. With Bluetooth or wired headphones, the buttons on your earbuds let you control playback. Through Bluetooth, Evie can connect to your car stereo. The buttons in your car can be used to play, pause, and skip forward or backward. Your lock screen or the notifications drawer are where you may control it. Grasp this opportunity to relax your eyes. While driving, read a book. Exercise while listening to a book. whatever time you are gardening. Alternately, read a book before bed. Evie reads DRM-free ePub ebooks that you download from the internet, your phone, or other device. Additionally, it can open HTML pages so that you can hear aloud the articles from your preferred news source. The Text To Speech voices are the most easily managed with Evie. With your phone's TTS engines installed, you can read books in any language that is supported. Evie adjusts voices automatically to match the language of the book based on your language-specific selections for the TTS Engine and Voice. Evie gives you the option to alter the speech pace as well as the length of the pauses at the beginning and finish of phrases, allowing you to precisely match the speech to your own personal style. A sleep timer function is quite simple to utilize in Evie. Evie will stop reading at the predetermined time after you activate it with a simple swipe. A simple touch of the earphones' button will allow you to restart the timer if it has already expired. For both the current chapter and the entire book, Evie accurately determines how much listening time is left. Also included is a thorough overview to the Text To Speech Engines and Voices that are offered in the Play Store for your convenience.

Readwise reviews

It does its fundamental job, to collect clippings from phone to Readwise cloud, but it's painful. Pro: 1. adds webpage clippings to my collection, unified across multiple devices. 2. OCR for clippings from paper sources. Con: 1. Doesn't collect & separate html-tagged metadata (eg, web page title). 2. Disables keyboard (moves cursor to end after every keystroke). 3. Review of collection on phone is just a long list, can't sort/filter.

Didn't appreciate that it got me to sign-up, add my highlights, and overall make me think that I was all done only to realize that it was only a 30-day trial and that I'll lose access unless I pay a monthly subscription. I bet it works at forcing people to just pay the 5 bucks/mo, but I just don't like that. I'm pretty sure it's because they know the price is steep for what you get, so they try to hide it. I just wanted to manage all my highlights in one place. Inflation is not that bad yet...

- Ruben Henriquez

It's an okay highlighter. I want to highlight as I read and for the app to get right out of my way while I do. I'm busy reading! With that in mind, I prefer the chrome extension's "quick highlight". It's not useful for me to have a note called "passages saved from Android" where everything dumps. I don't want to be forced to write a title every time to avoid that. I need to highlight even more quickly, and for it to use the page name by default. I love how simple this is but keep going.

Evie – The eVoice book reader reviews

Once I get more books from other places I will be very happy. Right now everything that I have on my phone comes through Amazon or from the library and this will not read either of them I have difficulty even trying to share to this app. I love the potential. I love the ease. I love all the different features. Except everything I want to read right now is inaccessible. I guess you could call it melancholy Joy.

- Gwendolyn Thomas

Love this TTS app! The built in network voices are so smooth and natural that I can listen to books (I use this for reading fanfic) while doing chores, driving, at work, etc. One downside is that I can't play music and listen to books at the same time or change the pitch of the reader, but tbh those are a minor trade off for the amazing voice quality! It can also record the TTS for saving and listening offline, which is great for not using data :)

- Gina Chung

Best reader, hands down. If it's do-able, I'd LOVE to be able to change the color of Evie in-app; the blue area at the top of the screen where the icons all are, as well as the highlighting part that's currently a pink color. I'm personally a fan of red, purple and full black. But if a "color wheel" could be a thing, that would be amazing also. Just an idea I had. It's not vital, just more on the aesthetic side of things, haha. Zero pressure, I promise
