“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

I Love this App! This app is the best and most easy to use program I have found for reading text out loud. I use it for all my work in school. I love the option for changing the speed and for changing the voice of the reader. I only wish you could open two tabs at once and could change the speed it reads in the middle of it reading (instead of needing to stop the audio, change the speed, and restart from the begining). All that being said, still the best app I've come across for text to speech.

See how Speechify compares with SpeakLineCentral Access Reader reads text that you paste into it. It has a light and dark theme, and it works pretty well on varying screen resolutions. The text highlighter can't keep up the voice while it's reading, you can't type in the text window, and for some reason the software uses a ridiculous amount of CPU, so it only gets 3 stars, but it gets the job done and runs offline on Windows so I am satisfied with it.
WolfIcefangFor kids with print-related difficulties, Central Access Reader (CAR) is a free, open-source text-to-speech program. Using the voice software on your computer, CAR reads Word documents and pasted text. CAR offers a user-friendly interface and a wide range of adjustable options.
See how Speechify compares with Central Access ReaderEasy to use This program is easy to use and works for my needs. I like that they do not collect my data as well! I didn't give it a 5 star just because it sounds very automated and some words are pronounced wrong, but I'm satisfied and will continue using this program

Convienent And Simple This is the type of thing you would hope was already on your computer but at least it was free. While it could be more fancy and allow more options, this text to speech program is more than sufficient for my purposes. Turning text to audio and making those files easily accessable while still being free. Forces a review but I think the agressiveness is what put it near the top of the search options for me to find... I endorse this app regardless.

Central Access Reader -A FREE screen reader that reads Math accurately, is going to help so many students and individuals who struggle with literacy, processing, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and other print disabilities, as well as those who are visually impaired or aging and simply benefit from hearing the math aloud. "Spencer Graffe, a senior in Central Washington University’s Computer Science Program, has helped develop Central Access Reader (CAR), a free computerized text-to-speech reader program that has attracted attention of institutions across the nation. Marshall Sunnes, Central Access program coordinator and Wendy Holden, Disability and Accessibility Consultant, collaborated to determine what the program should be, how it should look, and what features were most important to include. Graffe had the skills to make it happen. The program, developed as a tool to assist students with print-related disabilities—those with visual impairments, dyslexia, attention-deficit disorder, or other conditions—reads documents that other text-readers can’t handle, especially those with equations or symbols
