“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

App works better than well I want to say thanks for the app. A few reviewers point out that the Apple Watch auto-off setting interrupts reading. And though at first this was disappointing, I found that by placing my finger on the edge of the screen while using the app the auto-off never triggers. I hope people are aware of this! A simple mod that turned Wear Reader into the app I'd been waiting for. Productivity doubled. Well, best wishes and thanks for this weird fabulous idea. I believe that all mobile reading apps will l be rapid serial within 7 or 8 years and hope you folks get some deserved credit for that.
Dioci2018You can speed read while you're on the go with Wear ReaderTM. You won't ever need to take a book out of your backpack again, whether you're in a bus, train, or subway. You may start reading right away by simply uploading your preferred book from a supported format to your iPhone or Android device and connecting your Apple Watch or Android wear. Wear ReaderTM swiftly displays text on the screen, one word at a time, to quell internal babbling and enable quick reading while maintaining comprehension. Need to go back because you missed a spot? No issue! To fast-forward and rewind, simply swipe up and down on the screen or press the appropriate buttons. To take a break and assess your progress, press once to halt the stream. Tap again to resume. Everything is done by the app. You can read longer without becoming tired because your eyes won't be skipping from word to word. Even a night mode is available on the Android version for reading in the dark late at night.
This simple bookmarklet will reformat any page to a large, readable, and customizable speed-reading layout. You can change the rate of speed, pause and play, and go back ten seconds if you miss anything. It highlights one letter of each word red to help you focus your eye for better speed reading.
Ted CurranYou can use Squirt, a very basic Javascript bookmarklet, on (nearly) any page. It can read the main body text (or the text you highlight) to you word for word at any speed between 250 and 950 words per minute. The window that lets you select a speed what you observe while reading. incredibly minimalist. This item is fantastic for reading online. I'm at ease in the 750–850 range after some warming up, and I'm confident that with a little more practice, I'd be at ease at 950. At that pace, I can read most stories in under two minutes and complete my morning news catch-up much faster. This is how it goes: Go to this GitHub repository at https://github.com/Nateliason/squirt-html-base and copy the HTML file into a folder on your PC. The text you wish to fast read should be pasted where it says "YOUR TEXT HERE" in the HTML file after opening it in Notepad, no need to do anything more complicated. save the document Open PowerShell or Terminal, whichever you prefer, and go to the folder where the HTML file is located. (I'm assuming you have Python installed; if not, do that first.) Run "python -m SimpleHTTPServer." You can access your text file by going to your browser and entering "127:0:0:1:8000" in the URL field. You can begin speed reading by clicking "Start Speed Reading." This is a temporary fix until someone (perhaps me) creates a static webpage where you may paste in material you wish to speed read using Squirt. Wait a Minute... You can't just copy and paste from a PDF as it's technically a picture of a document, and Amazon uses DRM on their kindle eBooks (as do most eBook companies), so that doesn't entirely fix the problem, does it? A quick Google search will reveal up a ton of websites that will convert your PDFs to Word files for free (and they actually do a very decent job), as well as a few sites/programs that can convert your Kindle ebooks into word files. Fortunately, these issues have already been resolved for us.
If this worked as intended, this app would be amazing. Books on your wrist, everywhere you go! And actually an attractive interface as well. But constant crashes hold it back. I’m trying to reinstall again - I don’t want to give up on it yet! Developer, please fix the reliability.

I had my Apple Watch for about 8 months before finding this app and admittedly I didn't use it much and was a little disappointed I had spent the money on it. However, after finding this app I won't be caught without my watch. I love that I can read anytime I have some down time. Whether I'm waiting in line, riding the subway or taking a break at lunch all I have to do is look at my wrist to catch up on my reading. I prefer to read using the Traditional Method where I manually scroll through "pages" of the book with many words on the screen at one time instead of the speed reading method that shows one word at a time, but I'm sure some people prefer the other method. Definitely worth using this app.

What I like about the bookmarklet is that it works well with readability extensions or bookmarklets, and that it gives you full control over the process. The one issue that you may run into is that it does not remember custom wpm settings but always reverts back to 400 wpm whenever you invoke its functionality. That's somewhat of a problem for readers who prefer a slower words per minute reading speed as words start to be displayed the second the interface is loaded. You may have to slow down the speed and go back to the beginning then to start over.

The thing about speed reading is that to use it in a real way, you read in chunks. So instead of word by word you read like 3 words at a time. Check out spreeder, which has been doing this for quite a while (and is where I learned to speed read). The other problem is that there is no way to go back and reference material you have already read or pictures that are in the text. This is present with all speed reading apps and why you should just learn to speed read without a fancy app.

Came here to say the same thing. Although it is fun to mess with speed reading on a site without context, I don't know how useful it would be on a site that requires the user to actually consume text.
