“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“
Sir Richard Branson
For teachers, this is a terrific resource for breaking up the monotony that can creep into the classroom. Seemingly mundane science lessons can be made fun by posing questions such as “Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?” to the class. The entire site has a light and whimsical feel, but balances that with high-quality information. Any one of the daily questions can be used as a makeshift lesson.
Jason TomaszewskiWonderopolis is an informational site that helps kids ask and answer interesting questions about the world. Every day, a new "Wonder of the Day" question is posted -- each designed to get kids to think, talk, and find learning moments together in everyday life.
If you are looking for a free platform with a wholesome community always willing to share their knowledge and learn new skills, Instructables can feel like a second home to you. In addition, the platform can offer guides for students of all ages and a classroom for teachers with all skills. Furthermore, it provides one of the most extensive libraries for DIY guides on the web since the community itself creates all guides. Not many alternatives can offer the same, and all Instructables reviews confirm this. Instructables is as good as it looks, but that doesn’t mean it is without weaknesses. Since the platform is free, the developer team had to unpublish the official app. Unfortunately, they had no resources available to maintain it properly. On the other hand, note that some Instructables, such as the guides for the app, marketplace, and the Instructables premium membership that no longer exist, are still not updated and confuse new users. Lastly, the Instructables Marketplace closed recently, so users no longer can earn revenue from the platform.
Ana DjurovićInstructables became that documentation system in 2005, as an in-house project of Squid Labs. When they weren't solving interesting problems like solar panels for driveways, efficiently harnessing human power, or strain sensing ropes, you could find them sharing Instructables from the workshop. From cooking to 3d printing, to making just about anything fly, Instructables became the recipient of countless hours of tinkering, soldering, stitching, frying, and fun, making just about anything. Instructables was officially spun out of Squid Labs in the summer of 2006, and has gone on to grow from a modest hundreds of projects to over one hundred thousand. The community that now calls the site home, is an amazing mix of wonder from around the world. Every day we continue to be amazed by the imagination, curiosity, and simple awesomeness of everyone who shares their creations with us on Instructables.
Wonderopolis could be a useful tool for any inquiry-based elementary classroom. With a new question posed and answered every day, you'll have an engaging and relevant resource to spark students' curiosity. Just plan on scaffolding for your not-yet-proficient readers or for your kindergarten and first- and second-grade students, as the content is not differentiated. The Common Core search option mostly helps narrow the search of the 1000+ questions; the site might help teachers better by offering clearer connections to the standards and explanations. Each question and its response is accompanied by a variety of resources: video teasers, an audio option, comprehension checks (literal-level), vocabulary terms with linked definitions, and a word-match exercise. Also of note, there are some open-ended extension activities that are more experiential in nature, and bound to engage students.

I love using this site because of the accessibility features. It allows all types of learners to understand the text. The images are rich and the content is engaging. Since it identifies the vocabulary it helps the students better understand the content. If you want a great science article this is it. Along with the article there is a section called try it out. This section explains to the students how they could work with family or friends to dive into the topic more.

This is a great tool for research on many topics. It incorporates visuals, interactive quizzes, vocabulary, and much more. It could be used to study science or social studies type topics with literacy intertwined for presentations, writing, and reading. The video could have the option to be read aloud, but other than that, it is a great addition to the classroom.

An active and supportive user community submits comments, asks and answers questions, and gives encouragement. Classroom interaction could be modeled after this supportive online environment: Kids could work together to tackle projects and then offer feedback on each other’s work. Those inspired to submit projects could form groups, brainstorm ideas, and break projects into steps. Groups could be broken down into multiple roles, such as photographer, instruction writer, inventor, and tester. The site challenges kids to work together, follow directions, and use their imaginations, making it worthwhile in itself.

I think this is a teaching tool that you could add to things that you already have. I liked that you can research by different categories instead of it all being thrown together. How I Use It I would let the students research whatever topic we were working on. This seems like it would be a good tool for a science fair project. You could find different instructions to create things.

This website contains contests on different crafting. I especially loved the homemade bracelets. Great for Families. There is so much to do on this one website.
