"Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today."

About WordTalk

WordTalk is a Word toolbar extension developed by the University of Edinburgh that adds customisable text-to-speech to Microsoft Word. It is compatible with all versions of Word and can be accessed from the toolbar or ribbon, depending on the version being used. The toolbar itself is obviously not the most aesthetically pleasing thing you'll ever see, since it appears to have been created by a toddler. Neither are the functions of all the buttons clear, but thankfully a help file is available. WordTalk's simplicity is undeniable, however the program does support SAPI 4 and SAPI 5 voices, which can be customized. The option to read individual words, sentences, or paragraphs aloud is an especially nice feature. There is also the possibility to save narrations, and a number of keyboard shortcuts provide quick and easy access to frequently used options.

Most popular feedback for Voicepods

I often encouraged my students to read their papers aloud or have them read aloud by someone else to spot mistakes that they didn’t catch when reading silently. Voicepods could be a great tool for students to use to hear their written words read aloud. All they would need to do is copy and paste the text of their papers into Voicepods to hear their work read aloud.

Voicepods reviews

When I first tried it and wrote about it Voicepods would only create voice recordings based on text that you wrote. This week Voicepods launched a free Chrome extension that will let you have the text of any webpage read aloud. There are other Chrome extensions that do the same. What makes Voicepods different is that while Voicepods reads the text of webpage it also makes a recording that you can save and playback whenever you want

Voicepods offers the best of both worlds, as they combine an individual service with one that makes it easier for businesses to implement a text to audio API, wherever they need. One of the best things about Voicepods is that they’re much more user-friendly than many of the other choices. You can even create a custom voice that you can use for special projects, so you can get a lot more out of Voicepods than a lot of their competition. Finally, each of their voices sounds clear and natural, so you don’t think that you’re hearing a robot talk when you use their program.
