An overview of the Demon Slayer series

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese fantasy manga series and comic book by Koyoharu Gotouge. It follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy living in Taisho-era Japan who becomes the sole survivor of his family after demons kill them. He then sets out to save his sister Nezuko who has transformed into a demon.

The graphic novels debuted in February 2016 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Since its release, Demon Slayer has become one of the most popular manga in Japan, selling over 150 million copies, making it the 11th most-sold manga series after classics like One Piece. It also featured an anime adaptation from 2019 and a movie based on the manga’s Mugen Train arc.

Koyoharu Gotouge is best known for creating Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which proved to be an instant success when it was first published in 2016. He was the first manga artist to land on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list.
