C. H. Mackintosh
C. H. Mackintosh (1820-1896) was born in County Wicklow, Ireland, and is generally known as C. H. M., which is all that appeared on the title pages of his major writings. He was one of the major evangelists and brethren authors of the nineteenth century, and he was active in the Ulster revival of 1859. His writings are easily understood and were particularly influential among North American evangelicals. For a number of years, Mackintosh also edited a magazine called Things New & Old, which had a worldwide distribution and reputation.

While there are many New Testament passages that make it clear that God assumes Christians know they should only date Christians, such as 1 Corinthians 7:39, 9:5; the clearest passage about this command of God is found in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
