Jane Hamill, who contributed “A Grown-Up Barbie” to NPR’s This I Believe series, grew up designing and sewing clothes for family members in her hometown of Chicago. She studied fashion in New York and Paris before opening her own boutique at age 25. Hamill is on the advisory board of Columbia College in Chicago.
