Jean-Francois Revel (1924 -2006) was a French journalist, philosopher, and a member of the Academie Francaise. He studied and taught philosophy and was an editor for the influential political weekly L’Express. His books, including How Democracies Perish and the bestseller Without Marx or Jesus, have gained worldwide recognition.
