Meg and her sister Sue are ready for a few good scares when they go to the Halloween party at their new school on Long Island. But when they take shelter from Meg’s arch-enemy, Kenny Stover, in a ruined cottage on Horse Hollow Road, they discover they have been scared right out of this world!

This sequel to Gom on Windy Mountain recounts Gom’s journey beyond his mountain home to the place called Far Away, in search of his mother Harga, who left the mountain shortly after Gom’s birth and is reputed to be the greatest wizard in the world. Gom is gone only a day when he feels someone following him.
