Audible’s free trial

Interested in getting free audiobooks? An Audible trial can be a smart move to help you discover the best audiobooks, learn your membership plan options, and take a look at the Audible Plus catalog. If you’ve never used a podcast or audiobook app before, it makes sense that you have some questions about exactly how an Audible free trial works. Here, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about Audible’s free trial offer, including how to access Audible books, where you need to go to check out premium selection titles, and other perks of becoming an Audible member, even if you just decide to stick around for a trial Audible subscription.

Here’s how you can get started reading free books with Audible.

Overview

Audible is a product created by Amazon to allow subscribers to listen to audiobooks on their mobile devices through the Audible app on iOS and Android—or on desktop. There are different levels of membership to Audible. Before subscribing, many people take advantage of Audible’s free trial option, allowing them to learn more about the service and determine whether it’s a good fit for their audiobook listening needs.

There are two Audible offers for people who are interested to get started with: Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus.

Audible Plus offers new users a 30-day trial to learn whether the subscription option is the right choice for their listening needs. The Audible Plus option costs $7.95 per month after the free trial period ends. With this subscription option, users have access to a selection of Audible originals, audiobooks, sleep tracks, podcasts, and meditation programs.

Audible Premium Plus also offers users a free 30-day trial to decide whether the upgraded option is the right fit for them. After the free trial ends, Audible Premium Plus costs $14.95 per month. Audible Premium Plus members get everything that’s offered to Audible Plus members, as well as the option to choose one premium selection title each month. The title is then the subscriber’s to keep in their Audible library.

Many users enjoy Audible because it allows them to listen to podcasts, sleep tracks, audiobooks, and other forms of media in one place. Audible can also be controlled through Alexa, making it simple for users to speak their audio needs and have them met immediately while in their homes. An Audible membership allows people who struggle to find the time to sit down and read a book to get the information they want, wherever they are.

If you decide that Audible isn’t the right fit for you during your free trial, your credit card won’t be charged. If your free trial has already ended and you decide that Audible is no longer the right fit for you, no worries—you can cancel anytime.

In order to cancel your Audible trial or subscription, you’ll first need to navigate to Audible.com, where you can log into your account. From there, you’ll click on account details. You’ll see a text box with a cancellation option. Click cancel. Then, you’ll then be asked for the reason for your cancellation.

Amazon Prime

If you’re an Amazon Prime member and you’re interested in trying Audible, we’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news: your Audible Plus or Audible Premium Plus membership are not included in your Amazon Prime subscription. The good news: when you get your 30-day free trial for Audible, you’ll get access to two premium titles, allowing you to listen in on the latest bestsellers.

As a Prime member, you’ll also have access to Prime Reading, which allows you to read some Kindle eBooks for free. You can bounce back and forth between the written format and audio format of the books.

Speechify: Your next audio upgrade

It’s smart to choose a text-to-speech app (or TTS app) to allow you to easily listen to your audiobooks, documents, PDFs, and other text-based information. Speechify is a powerful TTS app that translates text to natural-sounding speech, making it easy for you to listen to information instead of requiring you to sit down to read a book or a document.

If you already have audiobooks downloaded to your devices, you can easily import them into your Speechify library. Many people find that it’s easier to listen to audiobooks through Speechify than through Audible, due to Speechify’s robust customization options and dozens of available languages. When you use Speechify to listen to audiobooks, you’re able to choose a narrator that’s a good fit for your preferences, and you’re able to speed up or slow down the narration so that you’re able to listen at a speed that makes sense for you.

Speechify also makes it simple to stay on top of your work no matter where you are. When you use Speechify, your audio files will sync across your libraries, giving you unlimited access to all of your audio, whether you’re on your phone, Mac, PC, or tablet.

If you already have other books downloaded on your Kindle or other mobile reading device, you can easily upload the text files to Speechify and translate the files to audio. Speechify also allows you to take photos of printed text and upload it to their app, where the text in the photo is translated to an audio file.

It’s easy to download Speechify and choose a plan that’s a good fit for your needs. Just like Audible, you’ll be able to give Speechify Premium a try for free during the trial period to discover exactly how it can help boost your productivity before you commit to a subscription plan. There is also the completely free version of Speechify, which includes many of the same great text-to-speech features as the premium version.
