All I have left are three thousand pesos, two hundred grams of opium and a quarter of an ounce of heroin, and that should be enough to kill myself.” The protagonist, and also narrator, of this novel goes in search of a final date with “the lady” in the form of a white powder, and for this he undertakes a journey in which he will come across disturbing characters, the ghosts of friends that have died along the way, memories of the great city that he left behind, and he will also face his own past.
