Née en 1963 au Viêt-nam, Linda Lê avoue volontiers qu’elle n’a plus une connaissance intime de sa langue natale. Le français, appris dès l’enfance, à Saigon, est devenu, sinon sa patrie, du moins un espace mouvant qui lui permet tout ensemble de se désabriter et de trouver une ancre flottante. Arrivée en France en 1977, deux ans après la fin de la guerre du Viêt-nam, elle a pris le chemin de la littérature. Après trois livres parus lorsqu’elle était très jeune, elle a publié Les ?Évangiles du crime dont une presse unanime a salué l’originalité exceptionnelle. En 1993, Christian Bourgois a édité son cinquième livre, le roman Calomnies (traduit et publié aux États-Unis, aux Pays-Bas et au Portugal) puis en 1995, Les dits d’un idiot. Les Trois Parques et Voix ont paru en 1998, Lettre morte en 1999, Personne en 2003, Kriss : L’homme de Porlock en 2004 et In memoriam en 2007. Elle a reçu le prix Wepler-Fondation La Poste en 2010 pour son roman Cronos et le prix Renaudot-poche en 2011 pour À l’enfant que je n’aurai pas (Nil).
