At Boomerang, one night can change everything…

Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-two, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of his game in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and threatens to knock the tech wunderkind down and throw his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.

Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon–and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan–has a problem of her own. After nearly flunking out in her senior year of college, she has one chance to redeem herself to her father by proving that she deserves a place in his corporate empire. When the two meet, their sizzling chemistry makes it tough to keep things strictly professional. But when Alison discovers Adam’s secret, she knows she should bring it right to her father, who’ll leverage it for his own gain and use it to ruin Adam. The only problem: she’s falling for Adam–hard.

***Review posted on The Eater of Books! blog***Rebound by Noelle AugustBook Two of the Boomerang seriesPublisher: William Morrow PaperbacksPublication Date: February 10, 2015Rating: 4 starsSource: eARC from EdelweissSummary (from Goodreads):Hooking up is only the beginning of the fun in this sexy and irresistible second installment of the thrilling New Adult series, Boomerang.Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-two, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of the heap in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and knocks the tech wunderkind down, throwing his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.Three years ago, Adam married his high school love—and then lost her in a tragic accident. Now, the heartbreak and guilt he’s tried to bury with work and women begins to take over his life.Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon—and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan—has a problem of her own. She’s got one chance to prove to her father that she deserves a place in his empire by grabbing control of Boomerang and taking Adam down. But as Alison moves in on him, armed with a cadre of lawyers and accountants, she discovers there’s much more to Adam and Boomerang than meets the eye. Will earning her father’s approval come at the price of losing her first real love? It appears so, unless Adam can forgive her for wrecking his life and trying to steal his livelihood. But Alison hopes that old adage is right. Maybe love can conquer all. What I Liked:Okay, I think I liked this one more than I liked Boomerang. Boomerang was okay for me - not bad, but I didn't love it. I struggle with New Adult, especially New Adult contemporary romance. But I love Veronica Rossi and her Young Adult books (Rossi is one of the two authors co-writing this Boomerang series). So I definitely wanted to give this series a chance at some point. The first book was okay, but I liked this book more.Rebound follows Adam and Alison. Adam is the creator of Boomerang, and Alison is the ex-girlfriend of Ethan, a former intern at Boomerang, and the boyfriend of one of Boomerang's employees (Mia). Alison is also the daughter of a businessman who is currently in the position to take control of Boomerang - and take Adam out of the Boomerang picture. But Alison doesn't expect to fall for Adam (and vica versa). Will she support her father, or follow her heart?I didn't like Alison at all in Boomerang. She broke Ethan's heart! When I saw that this book (Rebound) would be about Adam and Alison, I definitely cringed. Adam and ALISON? I liked Adam. I didn't like Alison. This book had to be really good, in order for my opinion of her to change.Well, my opinion did change a bit. I felt bad for her. Her father seems to have almost complete control over her life, especially since she had that meltdown for like, her entire college career, and he had to pay for her to graduate (basically), on top of tuition. Which should make me resent her - she can go crazy and get drunk all the time and lose control and STILL graduate, because her rich father can bail her out? Meanwhile, I'm busting my butt seven days a week - no going out for me - so I can do just the same (graduate, that is. Granted, I'm trying to graduate in a certain percentile, but still). Anyway. I shouldn't like Alison, but I eventually sympathized. There is no excuse for cheating - or almost cheating. She didn't sleep with the guy, but they were still in the bed when Ethan walked in. It doesn't make things much better, but at least Alison came to her senses and stopped things. In the end, good on Ethan for dumping her.Alison is kind of a lost soul, a lonely girl who loves horses. Adam is a lost soul too, a lonely man who devotes himself to his pride and joy (his company). Eventually, I grow into the idea of them together. The opening scene of the book is at a Halloween party, and things get pretty heated between Adam and Alison. But then things derail for the ENTIRE book (grrr), in terms of the physical nature of their relationship. But Alison definitely grows up, and Adam learns to open up.I didn't like that Alison had initially started getting close to Adam because her father wanted dirt on Adam. But I really liked Adam and Alison together. Without the competitive aspect of Boomerang, I definitely enjoyed the flow of the story much more. The story is engaging and interesting. I wanted to know more about Adam's secrets, and what drives him so. His mysterious nature is hinted in Boomerang, and I was intrigued. All is revealed in this book, along with the future of the company, and the future of Alison and Adam. You'll have to read this one to find out what happens! What I Did Not Like:While I liked the romance in this book a lot (the relationship was very well-developed), the romance could have seriously benefited from more physical scenes between Adam and Alison. There are like, three, and one of them is truncated by someone (awkward). All relationships have a physical basis as well as the mental/emotional/intellectual ones. Especially in New Adult books. I expected more! Also while I no longer dislike Alison, I'm still not her biggest fan. How dare she hurt poor Adam. It's okay, Adam. *hugs* All is well in the end, but girl. You messed up. Boooo.Would I Recommend It:For New Adult fans - if you like New Adult contemporary romance novels, then definitely check out this series! It's different from the typical cliche overused boring New Adult contemporary romance novels from that huge NA boom in the past few years (haaaated). I like the Boomerang series (for the most part), and I don't usually like New Adult contemporary romance novels!Rating:3.5 stars -> rounded up to 4 stars. I liked this one! I'll probably check out Bounce (book three) later in the year - Grey is one of my favorite characters in the series!

3.5-4 starsYou know, Rebound doesn't have the magic of the first book, but I'm still loving the tone and overall feel of this New Adult series. It's fun, it's fresh, it's even a little whimsical... it's different. I love that it's more like a romantic comedy than anything else; the situations these characters find themselves in are humorous and engaging, even if a little cheesy. Me being me, I ate it all up. Plus, the writing is just so so lovely. Noelle August is the pseudonym for the writing duo Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger, and these ladies not only know how to tell a good story, but their prose is just so refreshing and full of aching honesty. I could read it for days!Rebound is about Adam - the hotshot, wealthy, and handsome owner and CEO of his dating website, Boomerang - and Alison - Ethan's ex-girlfriend and daughter of the man who may want to invest in Adam's company. The two meet at a Halloween party and, much like with Ethan and Mia, sparks fly immediately. I absolutely loved these first few chapters! They're funny and sexy, but Alison and Adam already begin to open up to each other in a really sweet way. Of course, things get derailed quickly when they find out the identity of the other person. The two have to fight their attraction and stay strictly business, mostly because of Alison's dad. This, we know, will be impossible. So, I love the idea of this story - of two people who don't trust easily, especially with their hearts, come to trust each other and slowly bare their souls. It's so well done here, especially toward the end when Adam's company takes a team building retreat to the mountains. Alison and Adam are paired together and do exercises that are supposed to help build trust, which is absolutely what happens. It made me really, really happy to see this play out. Adam is struggling because four years ago his wife died, and he still hasn't gotten over what happened. My heart broke for him, but I wanted him to be able to move on. Alison is the first girl since his wife he wants to be real with, and I loved seeing him finally chase after her. Alison I'm still a little mixed on. I like more the way Adam sees her when we are in his chapters than the way she sometimes came across during her chapters. I didn't like that she was so blind to her father's schemes, and I wish she had been a little less brittle. The way Adam sees her, though, is truly heart melting. I loved his sweet thoughts about her! It's hard not to compare the two books, since I adored the first one so much. I don't think Adam + Alison are on the same level as Ethan + Mia; the build up, to me, just wasn't as good, so their relationship didn't feel as solid. But I rooted for them and there are plenty of swoony bits. One of the supporting characters I really enjoyed is Grey, Adam's troubled younger brother, and he'll be the star of the next book, which makes me happy. I can't wait to read his full story! In the meantime, be sure to catch up and read this series if you enjoy romantic comedies and fun, flirty stories. I'm just betting you'll fall for Ethan and Adam, too. :)This review can also be found at Love at First Page.

It's official! This series is one of my favorite lighthearted NA reads. Having thoroughly enjoyed Boomerang, I was looking forward to reading Rebound. I knew, going in, that these two lovely authors would not disappoint and of course, I was right. Rebound was for me, an even stronger novel than Boomerang! I sighed and swooned and basically felt all kinds of feel-good emotions while reading the book.I know a lot of readers were wary of Alison in the first book after what she did to Ethan, but I was actually looking forward to seeing what Noelle August would come up with to redeem her character. I'm all for flawed characters! Turns out, Alison didn't really need any kind of redemption. I honestly loved her character so much, even more than I expected. She was actually a sweetheart, which might come across as a bit of a surprise to a lot of readers. You understand where she was coming from and get a good grasp of her actions. No, this doesn't mean I condone cheating, but everything becomes clear as the story progresses. Alison was also a character who underwent some tremendous growth throughout the series. She found herself being confined in the "cages" that her father built around her and it was hard for her to really escape from there. Over the course of the book, she became independent, grew a backbone and fought for what she thought was right. By the end, she had become a fabulous character. Alongside her and also propelling her towards her growth was Adam! The very swoony Adam, might I add. I was intrigued by Adam's character in the first book. After all, he had built a thriving business at such a young age. In Rebound, we get to know him through his POV. I loved that we got glimpses into his past, even though it was heartbreaking, because it helped understand his character. The more I got to know him, the harder I fell for him.The romance between Alison and Adam was all kinds of lovely. They made a complementary couple who fit really well together. What I loved about the romance in this book was how they both indirectly helped each other grow up. The book might have started off with strong sexual chemistry between the two, but their romance was slow to develop. Additionally, the dreaded drama that is typical of romances was kept very low key, so it wasn't frustrating. Of course, the two of them had some obstacles to overcome, in the form of secrets, but the book never grated on my nerves. It was also nice to see Mia playing an important role in Alison and Adam's romance. I also have to talk about one of my favorite scenes of Rebound : the diving scene. Alison, her family and Adam take a boat trip and there's a scene where Alison and Adam go diving. You guys, it was such a luscious and gorgeous scene because of how beautifully it was described. I felt myself being transported into the book and I imagined myself swimming alongside with them! It was a treat!Rebound was a sweet story and if you enjoyed Boomerang, there's no doubt you'll enjoy this one. I highly recommend it to readers looking for an entertaining and romantic book to spend an evening with.

If there is one thing August proved to me in Boomerang, it was that this woman knows how to write!I am happy to report that Rebound, once again proves that point. This was such a fun read! I really liked Adam in Boomerang but in Rebound, I fell in love with him.I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Ali, I mean she didn't exactly win anyone over in the first book and the girl had her ups and downs, but I did end up liking her and even more Adam. Both of them had their hang ups like all these good stories do and even some drama but it was worth it in the end to get their happily ever after. There were quite a few laughs along the way and even those “awww” moments that are a must have not to mention the more steamy moments as well. Sexual tension, drama, laughs, fun, a little heartbreak, and a great list of characters (old and new) to go along with it all and you once again have a wonderful story that will sweep you away for a few hours and leave you with a smile on your face and hoping like heck that the next story is all Cookie's, because let's face it, the girl needs a story, I know she has one and I want it. Wonderful job once again from this amazing author that seems, can write in any genre and excel at it.

4.5 stars! If you’re a follower of us here then you know that the love I have for Veronica Rossi can’t be put into words… gifs aren’t even sufficient. So when she started writing New Adult, my heart exploded. Then I read Boomerang and I fell even more in love with her… but she has a partner in this endeavor, and together they make up the team Noelle August. With Boomerang we met Ethan (SWOON) and Mia… and in that book we met a few secondary characters that I was so excited to find out would be our main characters in Rebound, book 2 in the companion series.Adam Blackwood, founder of Boomerang, seems to have it all at the young age of 22. He’s wealthy and respected and really, really hot. Boomerang is his baby and he wants to see it thrive and get bigger and the only way to do that is to get investors. Enter Alison Quick. You might know her as Ethan’s ex, but she’s more than that and it’s her goal to prove to her father that she belongs working right alongside him and she’s going to do that by giving him Adam Blackwood and his company Boomerang. But as Alison makes her moves, Adam’s got some of his own. And when a secret Adam’s tried to keep for years makes its way to the surface and her father pushes her to exploit it, will she do what she has to to get the respect of her father, or will the feelings she’s started to have for Adam help her do the right thing.I really enjoyed these two. To be honest they are an unlikely pair. I honestly didn’t think that August would go the route of letting the ex of Ethan get her happily ever after, and I didn’t love her after finding out her past with him, so when I started reading this book I wasn’t sure how I would feel. BUT I can tell you guys that I truly found that I had a soft spot for Alison! I think that mainly had to do with what she had to deal with in the family department. Her father is a ginormous tool and every time he was on a page I just hated him more. So knowing what she has had to deal triggered those feelings of sympathy and yes… even a bit of understanding. And by the end of the book I found myself cheering for her!Adam too, wasn’t really on my radar either. We saw bits and pieces of him in Boomerang … making Ethan and Mia date and pitting them against each other for the single position at the company, but it was nice to see there was more to him than that. His backstory though you guys… *wipes tears*. As in Boomerang, Rossi & Oberweger have a wonderful way of telling the story. Each chapter is in an alternate point of view so you know what’s going on from both perspectives which is always nice, especially in romance. The evolution of the relationship itself is really well paced and I loved getting to know more about these two as they learned about each other and their chemistry was sooooo good! Once again, these authors have knocked it out of the park with a new adult novel that has a little bit of everything but doesn’t bog you down with the super heavy, overly dramatic plot lines. That’s super hard to find these days so that makes me ecstatic to get to read more from these two and I hope there is a ton more to come. Thank you to the author and William Morrow for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts!

Last year I fell in love. With a book. Whatever, you all know you’ve done it. Well the book in question was Boomerang, and since then, I’ve been looking forward to getting my paws on Rebound. And now that I’ve read it, I can say it was worth the wait. Rebound focuses on Alison and Adam. Adam is looking for an investor so that he can expand his company, and Alison is there to see if his company is worth investing in. She’s determined to prove to her father that she can handle it, but it gets off to the most awkward start. Awkward, but hot … and sweet, definitely sweet. I could feel their connection from the moment they met, but they had to do an about-face and keep it professional. And let the fun begin!I know a lot of people didn’t care for Ali in Boomerang, but I actually liked her. Now, I love her. She’s rich and beautiful, but she’s also a total sweetheart and has a great sense of humor. I was so happy to get her side of the breakup with Ethan. What really cemented my love for her, though, was her love for horses. Not expensive horses with impressive bloodlines, but horses that need rescuing. Major bonus point to her!Adam is pretty damn likeable too. He always comes across as good-natured and upbeat, so I liked that we got to peel his layers back and discover is secrets as he opened up to Alison. These two together were a lot of fun, especially their flirtatious banter and double entendres. Watching them grow closer while trying to deny their feelings made me giddy at times.Something else I love about this series is the secondary characters. They are mostly all of Adam’s employees, but they are like a crazy family. Even scary Cookie. She’s such an ice queen, so of course I’m drawn to her. Oh, and Grey, Adam’s brother! He’s more of a bad boy, and I can’t wait to read his book next.So yeah, Rebound left me with a big huge smile.

Book Review: Boomerang was one of my favorite feel-good romances of 2014. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on REBOUND!  I loved this book! Rebound was a sexy, romantic, tension-filled, happy romance (all the things!!) that left me smiling at the end. Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger are such a great writing duo. I hope they keep working together because they are making me a very happy reader. They are taking the new adult genre to a wonderful place. While Boomerang centered on Ethan and Mia, REBOUND focused on Adam Blackwood and Allison Quick. Adam is the incredibly hot twenty-three-year old businessman and CEO of Boomerang, an online dating site that just hit it big. Wanting to take his business to the next level, he has his sights on the film industry, planning to launch Blackwood Entertainment with his best friend Brooks. But he needs a wealthy investor to make his dream a reality.  Enter Alison Quick, daughter of a Graham Quick, a very wealthy investor. Before Graham decides to invest in Adam’s company, he sends his daughter and a team to Boomerang headquarters to learn more about the man they’ll be throwing their money at.Before Adam and Alison meet, both attend a Halloween party planned by the Boomerang company. At the party, Zorro and Catwoman share a heated and passionate exchange filed with kisses that is totally scorching hot. I mean, really!!! “I shouldn’t be here, in the back of this car, with this gorgeous stranger. Should definitely not wrap my legs around his and pull him hard against me. Shouldn’t bring my lips down to his so I can feel his sweet warm breath again, draw his tongue into my mouth, feast on his taste, which is honey and whiskey and salt. But I’m all in, already.” Their connection is instantaneous with Zorro sharing personal things with Catwoman that he doesn’t share with anyone. Their little bubble bursts when Cookie (yes, she’s back!) walks in on them, quite literally pulling the masks off both of them. To their horror, Adam and Alison realize that they went too far, unknowingly crossing the professional line. Now they are forced to work together in a professional environment, knowing they can’t act on any of their attraction.I was hooked on this book from the very beginning.  Adam and Alison’s tryst at the Halloween party set the perfect tone for the rest of the book, laying this palpable romantic tension that really moved the story along. I was dying to learn more about Adam and his past after reading Boomerang. The reader finds out what happened to him in Rebound.  It was so heartbreaking and really added a lot of depth to his character. So many times in new adult, the focus is so much on the romance and the character development gets lost. This isn’t the case here. The authors beautifully explore Alison and Adam’s pasts, making the reader understand the characters and the choices they make. Knowing their background and the character’s interests made the characters three dimensional. …it feels like Ali and I are the only people in the world, and I don’t want to let go of that feelings. Then something changes inside me, and fear starts scratching at my chest. Fear that if I walk away she won’t be here when I come back, because life change like that. In a matter of seconds. I know it can. Alison tilts her head questioningly, responding to my mood. “I don’t like leaving you,” I hear myself say. I was a little worried about how Alison would come across since she was portrayed as the woman who broke Ethan’s heart. But I loved her! The authors did a great job of redeeming her character in this book. It was clear that Alison harbored a lot of guilt for how things ended between her and Ethan and I liked that that whole situation was explained from her side. I really respected her character by the end of the novel for what she did for Adam and how she treated him. “I get what it’s like to be in on the first stages of something great. In this moment, with all of these people, I want so desperately for Adam to have everything he wants. I just hope, more than ever, that I don’t discover anything that gets in the way of that dream.” What I loved about this book was that even though Adam and Alison bonded so quickly and had strong sexual chemistry, it didn’t feel like insta-y. It felt real. Their relationship was actually a very slow build. The authors spent a lot of time spent letting the characters get to know each other and emotionally fall for one another, which I loved.  Like in Boomerang, this book was sexy without being raunchy. All of the steamy moments were done tastefully but it was still hot, and I really appreciated that.I also loved all of the secondary characters. Getting to meet Adam’s brother was a huge bonus, since Bounce, book three in the series, is about him and Mia’s friend Skyler. And of course, I loved Cookie. Though her scenes were brief she made an impression.I highly recommend this series to fans of New Adult. REBOUND is sexy, fun, and so addictive! 4 stars*I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review ____________________________________________★ Check out my list of UPCOMING BOOK RELEASES!!____________________________________________Find more of my reviews & other bookish things here:✥ Read this review on the blog!✥ My blog Reading Books Like a Boss✥ Like on Facebook✥ Follow on Twitter✥ Pin with me on Pinterest✥ Follow on Instagram✥ Subscribe by Email

Berit Talks Books

March 21, 2017

This book had a little more edge to it than the first book in the series, and it wasn't quite as fun....Allison and Adam meet at a costume party and have an instant attraction to each other, that is until they realize who one another is... Adam is trying to get Allison's father to invest in his company, so getting involved with his daughter probably would not be the best idea... both Adam and Allison have secrets, past indiscretions they don't want one another necessarily to find out, so this keeps them from one another.... Allison and Adams relationship was believable yet predictable, another relationship where if they just communicated with each other they're probably would've been a lot fewer problems... truly the best part of this book we're all the secondary characters, all the characters from the previous book that are all so fun and spontaneous and people you really would love to get to know.... I will definitely be reading the third book in the series with Adams brother Grey and Beth....

Dark Faerie Tales

January 13, 2015

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Fun, sexy new adult contemporary romance novel that was very entertaining to read!Opening Sentence: Some nights call for a Catwoman costume. The Review:Adam Blackwood is on top of the world. At the age of twenty-two he is CEO of Boomerang, a very successful dating site, and he is planning on expanding into the entertainment industry by opening his own production company. To do this he will have to get some investors and he has his sights set on business tycoon, Graham Quick. He figures that with his impressive resume and very successful business he will easily close the deal, but he never expected Quick to play dirty. Adam doesn’t have a perfect past and if certain things about him are released to the press it could ruin his entire career. Adam also never expected that after all this time the only women he has met since his last tragic relationship would be Alison Quick.Alison is on a mission to prove herself to everyone, especially her father. She just recently graduated from college and she has her first big assignment to figure out if Adam Blackwood is worth investing millions of dollars of her father’s money. She is suppose to see if there is any kind of dirt on golden boy before they decide to invest, but the more she gets to know Adam the more she realizes he isn’t at all who she thought he was. The more time they spend together the more she feels drawn to him and his mysterious past. Will she blow her one chance at pleasing her father or will she throw away the only boy she has ever truly loved? When I first met Alison in Boomerang I felt like she was a very misunderstood girl and I actually felt really bad for her. I was really excited that she was the protagonist for Rebound and couldn’t wait to get to know her better. I will admit that at times she was a slightly frustrating character because she was really naive about certain things and she let other people take advantage of her. But at the same time she is a very smart girl that can be extremely resourceful when she wants to be. In many ways she has felt lost in her life, but once she figures out what she actually wants she stops at nothing to get it. While she has made some terrible decisions in her past that have really hurt people she cared about, she generally is a really nice girl that will do anything for the people she loves. In many ways she is a walking contradiction, but I actually really liked that about her. Even with her flaws I thought she was a wonderful character and I’m so glad we got to read her story.Adam turned out to be so different then what I was expecting. In Boomerang he came across as a slightly socially awkward person that has been ridiculously successful for how young he is, but it turns out that he’s not awkward at all. He is very comfortable in his own skin and the only reason he seemed off in social situations is because he doesn’t like to let people get close to him. He has a tragic past that has turned him into a person that has a hard time connecting with people. He has put up all these walls to protect his heart so he will never be hurt again, and it really broke my heart. He has put all his energy and drive into being successful in business, but his personal life is really lacking. The more I read about Adam the more I loved him. I have always been a sucker for a broken boy that needs the right girl to heal him.The best thing about Rebound was the romance. My moment between Adam and Alison is actually when they first met. They both attend a costume party together and because they both are wearing a mask, neither of them knows who the other person is. This makes it so they can both be way more open and vulnerable than either of them are normally. They have this amazing instant connection that continued to grow throughout the story. Their relationship is full of great tension and plenty of steamy moments, but it never felted rushed or unrealistic. I thought that everything developed perfectly and thought that they made a wonderful couple.Rebound is a fun story full of humor, sexy romance, and emotions. I have come to realize that my favorite new adult series are full of companion novels versus a continuation of one couples story. I really enjoy seeing old characters but it is very refreshing to be in new characters heads. I thought that the mix of drama and tender moments was really well done in this story. It was a very entertaining read that also pulls at your heart strings. Overall, I really enjoyed Rebound and can’t wait to read the Bounce! I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a great, steamy, fun contemporary romance!Notable Scene:We kiss and kiss, and I melt against him. We’re slippery—leather against satin—and it’s so maddening. I want to feel his skin, all of its roughness and sleek, muscled planes. He breaks away, as if surprised by something. Selly - Leggere Romanticamente

February 20, 2017

For more reviews, visit my blog at Bittersweet Reads.I read Boomerang last year and it was good. I liked it. Rebound, however, threw Boomerang right out of the park! I was a little hesitant to read about Alison, since she’s the “bad” girl who cheated on her boyfriend. Still, everyone loves a good redemption story, right? Adam was a whole other story, though. I was dying for more of the closed-off, extremely successful businessman ever since he was introduced in Boomerang. Even then, there was something about Adam that just begged you to take a closer look—and once I did, I fell. Hard.At just twenty-two, Adam Blackwood has made a name for himself in the business world with Boomerang, an increasingly popular hook-up site. He’s at the top of his game, and still, he’s reaching for more. Enter Alison Quick, the daughter of the man with millions to invest in his company. Entertaining Alison may have started out as a means to an end, but soon enough, she’s breaking down walls Adam has spent years putting up.Alison is dead-set on proving herself to her father, and what better way to do that, than integrate herself into Boomerang headquarters? The plan is simple: get close to Adam and discover his secrets. But the closer she gets, the more she realizes there’s more to Adam than meets the eye. And the closer she gets, the harder she falls. The Alison we meet in Boomerang doesn’t do the woman we meet in Rebound justice. Alison has made her fair share of mistakes—cheating on Ethan being one of them—but she’s trying to get past it and do something right, for once. And misguided as it may be, she sees Boomerang as her ticket to redemption, especially in her father’s eyes. In Adam, though, she finds forgiveness and a strength unbeknownst to her. She finds happiness and one hell of a guy.Adam has skeletons in his closet, skeletons that haunt him every day. However, when he meets Alison, he starts seeing a light at the end of a tunnel entombed in darkness. Reading about Adam’s past made my heart ache like a book hasn’t done in a while. He’s spent the last four years blaming himself for the death of the person he loved the most, and it isn’t until he meets Alison, that he starts forgiving himself.I loved, loved, loved Adam and Alison as a couple. They complemented each other in so many ways, always in sync, always in tune to each other’s needs and wants. It takes a little bit of time for both Adam and Alison to let down their guards, but once they do, they come together in a way that had me smiling from side to side.Get ready to fall in love with Adam and Alison after reading Rebound. Really, my expectations were more than exceeded in every sense of the word. Things get tricky, yes, but the reward at the end is sweet and satisfying. You don’t need to read Boomerang for Rebound to make sense, but it does you give some more background information. Regardless, Rebound is the type of novel that once you start, you can’t put down. And really, what more could you ask for in a book?

Rebound is the second book in the Boomerang series from Author Noelle August, pen name for Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger. Each book is a companion novel that features new characters set in the same world. Their stories do cross from time to time which makes the books great as a series OR as standalone titles. This time around we get to spend some time with twenty-two year old Adam Blackwood – owner of Boomerang. He has everything he’s worked so hard for and on the cusp of taking his company to the next level. He’s also hiding behind a ton of guilt from an accident that took his wife, an accident he’s worked hard to bury deep and try to forget.Alison Quick is sent in by her rich father to vet Adam and his company for a huge investment. She’s dealing with her own issues while trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She’s harboring some deep feelings and confusion when it comes to family and guilt yet working with Adam makes her think differently for the first time. The two have a mountain of issues to work through together and apart and just when you think they might see the light at the end of the tunnel even more issues crop up to make the small amount of trust they’ve given to the other crumble in the blink of an eye.The thing that I love about these books is that the characters have so much for readers to relate to. That the books are just the right mix of light and fluffy to the more series side of the issues that we watch these characters work through. The writing flows extremely easy and both books so far are super quick reads. I’ve really loved following along with the characters connected to the Boomerang company. I’m really looking forward to the next book to see what the heck Adam’s brother Grey is going to get up to in Bounce out later this year. When you think of two authors coming together to write a book, I know for me I often worry about how the end product will come out. I wonder if there will be something that I’ll see to show me that two authors were in fact writing the story. That’s so not the case with these two authors here. I don’t even think about this series being written by two authors now, it’s just that seamless. So I have to commend them for how well they work together and for the end result of their work. In the end, I love these books. They are fantastically written “New Adult” contemporary books that readers will find themselves falling for the characters and lost within their lives and the world created for them. I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves characters with depth and issues or anyone who’s looking for a lighter read after something a bit darker. For me these books always came at just the right time and I’m really looking forward to the next book because I know Grey’s going to take readers on a wild, wild ride. So, what are you waiting for? Go get these books and enjoy! For more info and reviews please visit my Book Review Blog here - A Life Bound By Books

This is the first time I have ever loved a sequel even more than the first book!Noelle August is actually Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger coming together to make this completely addicting trilogy. This story follows Alison and Adam, who are both seen in the first book which follows Ethan and Mia. In the first book, Adam is just the owner of Boomerang, and is seen as more of a business professional without much of a life outside of that. He is extremely reserved. Alison is seen in the first book as Ethan's ex, who is honestly quite a mess and we don't like very much in the first book. With that said, I walked into this book thinking I didn't really care about either Adam or Alison. I didn't know how they were going to pull me into the story the way I was with the first book. They proved me wrong right away. This book felt even more fluid than the first. Ethan and Mia were great, and I loved every bit of their story. However, their issues always felt a little trivial. That if they would just take the time to slow down and think, there wouldn't be so many problems. Alison and Adam made so much sense to me. I never thought to myself "this would never happen in real life" or "this is ridiculous". I was happy when they were happy, I hurt when they hurt, and I was stressed out when they were stressed out. But there was never this feeling of needing to scream at the book "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!".I also love the way the two books were joined together. It was done so skillfully. I started the book thinking I wanted to hear a lot more about Ethan and Mia, but as time went on I realized that I was so sucked in to Adam and Alison's story, I just wanted to know that Ethan and Mia were still together and going strong. The characters were also brought together in this wonderful way of Mia and Alison being embarrassed and shy around each other at first, but then getting past it and realizing they've both moved on and everything is as it should be. There was no inappropriate girl drama over the fact that Ethan and Mia were now together, but Alison was still around. We get some real answers in this book about why Adam is so serious and reserved, why Alison cheated on Ethan and the details of all that. The next book will be about Grey, Adam's brother, and I can't wait to find out what happened with their mom. Because if we know anything at this point, we know Noelle August will answer all our questions.

Rebound, the second of the Boomerang series, is different from its predecessor, Boomerang, in that it is edgier and more intense, in keeping with its secretive, complex protagonists. The heroine in Rebound is, perhaps surprisingly, "evil Allison," who broke Ethan's heart in the first book, while the guy is Adam Blackpool, also not a particularly sympathetic character the first time around. It's nice to see the authors flesh out these two characters, explain some of the behavior that we may have disliked them for in Boomerang, make them real and complicated, and ultimately get us on their side. Allison and Adam belong together. They both run from closeness and communication. Allison is a girl who likes horses better than people, while Adam has plunged himself into work to escape his memories of a three year old tragedy. They're both sad and disconnected, yet see something in each other that draws them together. You find yourself rooting for them and hoping they'll find happiness together. In this series, Boomarang is the lighthearted, fun book. Rebound is the more serious and complex of the two and, for me, the more satisfying.

I don’t know if I have mentioned this already in my review for Boomerang but the things that I love the most about this duo are the facts that they write about characters that you can relate to (whatever status they may have in life) and immerse them in very realistic situations. It’s also very easy to breeze through the pages of this book because every bit that you’ll be taking in is just so much fun. Even though, you can feel the conflict picking up and that the tension between the characters is already brewing, there’s always a certain air of lightness on how it has been presented and translated into words through Noelle August's writing. Both Boomerang and Rebound doesn’t have the over the top and consuming drama that we mostly find in New Adult books these days. It has just the nice touch of drama that will certainly hit you right in your heart and make you ache in a bearable way.Rating: 4.5 starsTo read my full book review and for a chance to win a copy of BOOMERANG, better head over to my blog.
