NOW LIVE!!!*Amazon US*Amazon UK*Barnes & Noble*The second I got this on my Kindle I had to start reading. The LOST series quickly became one of my favorites from Cynthia Eden and Torn is just another reason why. This book was captivatingly suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time reading. When Dr. Victoria Palmer was abducted during an investigation, to her, it was just another bad thing to happen in her life. Her childhood hadn't been a happy one, and now that she's older she still never expects things to go good for her. But for her partner, Wade Monroe, her abduction wasn't just another bad thing, it was the thing that made him realize he wouldn't be able to stand losing her. Now, he's started to take notice of just how deep his feelings go for the sexy Doctor. I think one of the appeals of this series, for me, is the characters. They're all very real to me, each character has their own issues they need to deal with, and the feelings and emotions that go along with that are just really believable. Sometimes a characters past can be made out to be too over dramatic and it ruins them for me, but with Victoria and Wade their pasts are what made the story what it was. It wasn't shoved in my face while reading, it was subtle and gave just enough hints to keep me intrigued. I loved Victoria and Wade together way more than I even thought I would, and that was a lot. When Wade finally realized he couldn't lose Victoria he became determined to not let her run from him, and seeing him get her to open up was amazing. She had a big secret that was holding her back, but when she finally opened up to Wade her whole personality started to change around him. And of course I can't forget to mention that they were sexy as hell together! We did get to see the other LOST member briefly, and met two more for the first time, and I liked the glimpses of them we got. I actually really liked that the past members weren't mentioned too much because I didn't want them to take away from Victoria and Wade. It was good that so much of the story only focused on the main characters, since they certainly had a lot going on. Bottom line, Torn was absolutely amazing and I can't wait for everyone to read it. It's suspenseful, and intriguing, and will keep you guessing the whole time. Not many books can surprise me, but this series just keeps shocking the hell out of me. Originally posted at SmexyBooks-http://smexybooks.com/2016/05/review-...Torn is the fourth installment into Eden’s dark and gritty romantic suspense series-LOST. Even though I have not read the first three in the series, I had no problems diving right into the story and was completely pulled in by the heavy atmospheric mystery and romance that Eden develops. The story is easy to follow as Eden flashes back to earlier events in order for us to understand the dynamics of the group and chemistry playing out between our protagonists, Victoria and Wade. It does start out little slow are we follow Victoria and Wade to Georgia and watch them get up to date with the case. Eden maps out the investigation and the police interaction for us in a clear and easy to follow manner. Smooth presentation and intriguing dialogue immediately snags reader right out of the gate as she shows us the mindset of our protagonists and our villain with cryptic internal thoughts and intense emotions. As the plot picks up speed, the mystery and suspense follow suit, leaving us ripe with tension till the very last page.LOST-The Last Option Search Team-is indeed the last option for most people whose loved ones or friends have disappeared and their cases have gone cold. LOST’s newest case will pit two seasoned investigators against a serial killer who knows their most intimate secrets. Kennedy Lane disappeared without a trace five years ago while out running. One minute she was there, the next she was gone. Her ex-fiance has hired LOST to try to find out what happened to her to give himself closure. Gage, the founder of LOST, decides to send Wade Monroe and Victoria Palmer to Savannah, Georgia to see if fresh eyes can discover what happened to this young woman. Victoria is uncomfortable not only being sent out on a new case but also being paired with Wade. She was almost killed on her last case and she has developed an attraction to Wade that threatens her very sanity.“Wade Monroe was trouble-trouble she couldn’t quite handle right now. Handsome, dangerous, and more than ready to play dirty on any case…”Wade Monroe is an ex-homicide detective that helped start LOST with his best friend, Gage. Gage’s sister Amy was abducted and murdered while on Wade’s watch. Wade has never forgiven himself for this and treats each missing case as a way to atone and bring Amy home. Victoria has always intrigued Wade. Her intelligence, subdued beauty, and don’t touch persona begs him to slowly strip away all her defenses until there is nothing left but the sensual woman he knows is buried underneath. When Victoria was kidnapped and tortured on their last case, Wade decided that he was done waiting for her to see him and is now determined to push her until acknowledges the attraction that burns between them and reveals the secrets that stand between them.“She had to enjoy it. She had to enjoy me…Because they weren’t going to be together just one time. Oh, no, he had plans for her…”Our hero and heroine are an interesting mixture of contrasts; adding depth and background to the main storyline. The romance holds an integral place in the story and Eden uses their scenes together to flesh out Victoria and Wade. The almost suffocating sexual tension between them is addressed right off the bat with some intense love scenes. It’s the emotions they’ve kept buried that are slowly unleashed and brought to the surface for display that keeps your interest. Victoria is an intelligent woman with a horrific past. She has secrets that she feels will destroy her and anyone around her if they become known. She keeps her emotional walls high in order to avoid any real connections. Wade too has secrets but he has accepted the darker aspects of his personality and now channels it into his work.“You don’t know what hell is. I’ve been there more times than I can count.”A diverse cast of secondary characters keeps the suspense and mystery flowing smoothly. Each one adds personality, drama, and insight into the story. Through them we finally get the full truth behind what exactly happened to Victoria, Wade, and the women being kidnapped. The villain of the story is a twisted piece of work whose dark desires has them setting up the ultimate and elaborate scheme to make sure he gets who he really wants-Victoria.The ending comes at you fast and furious as Victoria and Wade connect all the dots and solve their case. Loose ends are wrapped up, questions answered, and the past is finally put to rest. Two new and very interesting additions are introduced towards the end to assure us Eden will definitely be visiting this world.Grade: B

Cocktails and Books

This review was originally posted on Cocktails and BooksThis is a well written, fast paced, story filled with suspense and romance. Victoria Palmer and Wade Monroe work for LOST which stands for The Last Option Search Team. LOST searches for missing people when everyone else has given up trying to find them. The story begins when Victoria and Wade are assigned to work on a case of a missing woman. As they work on the case they discover they are dealing with a serial killer who is twisted and sadistic and gets his kicks hurting women. Wade and Victoria race against time trying to stop a serial killer who keeps taunting them. I loved this intense story, it had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book.I liked Victoria but I also felt sorry for her. She is very smart, yet she has little confidence in herself. She has a lot of dark secrets she keeps hidden and because of that she is afraid to get close to anyone. Wade continually tries to break down Victoria’s walls, but she keeps pulling away because she is afraid if Wade sees who she really is, he won't like her.Wade is a hardened ex-cop and an ex-homicide detective and even though he has a tough guy exterior, he is always warm and caring with Victoria. He takes his time to get to know Victoria and let's her know that she is important and he tries to help her through her darkness. Wade is a good guy but he also has some issues he is dealing with from his past. Wade and Victoria have sizzling chemistry and I wanted them to work through everything and be together. Cynthia Eden writes an exhilarating and emotional story and I was never sure who the killer was until the very the end.

With this one, like the last one, I enjoyed the characters and the development of their relationship, but I felt the story - the murder mystery - wasn't really up to par. It felt like a cheat, and the more I think about it, the less sense it makes... almost like Eden grabbed something out of left field so that it couldn't be guessed, for the big finale. Frankly, I prefer well-constructed murder mystery. That makes me particularly disappointed, because the earlier books in this series were great, detailed, well-constructed mysteries. There was way more tension, with the villain hidden in plain sight, calmly interacting with the characters.Oh well.***3.5***

Another fantastic book is this series... It's rare to find a good book that's equal parts suspense and romance, but Cynthia Eden keeps writing masterpieces. Her books are the perfect mix of intense love stories and enthralling investigations. I can't wait for Taken !!

Ammie

Review originally published on Ammie's Book Obsession BOOK RATING COVER RATING Wow wow wow!!! I am so in love with this series. I loved the third book Shattered and Torn is equally amazing but my love for Shattered overtakes my love for Torn but Still, I loved Torn, just a bit less than Shattered. This book had my heart pounding so hard. It consumed me entirely. I was just so sucked into the story and I think I still am. I just loved everything about this book, especially Victoria and Wade but all in all, I just loved the hell outta this book, Period.I think that I have got a new book boyfriend too and his name is Wade and I'm fangirling right now!! I don't know how to control my excitement, I just can't. Please Don't get frustrated because of my fangirling and exaggerance (Is exggerance really a word? Still, who cares, I am just making a fool of myself so let it be.)I have read shattered twice. Can you believe it? Twice and then I picked up TORN and when the story ended, I started all over again. So I've read Torn twice too now! I just read this book in a single sitting and then when it finished, I started all over again. So you can imagine, how much in love with this book I am. EXPLORE THE PLOT Torn introduces us to Victoria Palmer, a forensic anthropologist in LOST and our own Wade Monroe *I just love him!!*Victoria is still not over her near-death experience and now the danger is knocking on her door all over again. Wade has realized that he can't stand losing Victoria. Her near-death experience has served as an eye opener for Wade and Wade being his possessive-self takes it upon himself to protect Victoria at all costs and they fall in love amidst all the serial killers, flying bullets and bombed buildings. Their chemistry is off the charts hot!! Their love is all too consuming. We also get to know about Victoria's past and her insecurity over love.I don't know what else to say but the key line is that I am completely in love with this book and the characters and Cynthia Eden's writing.Oh, and yes, there are serial killers. So you are going to get your dose of suspense and thrilling crime along with unbearable angst. Not going to reveal the plot any further because it'll just spoil all your fun so go and read this freaking book yourself!! MY TAKE I love this book. I just love this series. Torn had everything, let it be love, suspense, angst, thrill, it just had everything. The characters are amazing and very well developed. The emotions are very well depicted. The storytelling is awesome. So, all in all, there is nothing in this book which is not to love. RECOMMENDATION Highly recommended to the lovers of crime, drama, psychological thrillers and romantic suspense. ===Follow me on===Blog-http://ammiesbookobsession.blogspot.in/Twitter-https://twitter.com/AmmieTheBloggerInstagram-https://www.instagram.com/ammie.thebo...

I loved how this author was able to keep me guessing and wavering between who I thought the killer was, every time I've decided on who I think it is she drops another crumb that has me second guessing. I also really enjoyed watching Wade and Viki fall for each other in the midst of all the danger.Even though there were things that didn't fully add up I found this to be an enjoyable and I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.

The Romance Book Disciple (Samantha)

August 12, 2017

Torn is book 4 in the LOST series by Cynthia Eden and brings us back to the Last Option Search Team and the cases that keep them busy. Victoria experienced a trauma in the form of an attack in a previous book. She is still struggling with the PTSD from that event coupled with her natural affinity to avoid the living, preferring instead to stick with the dead. As a forensic anthropologist, Victoria is called upon to examine bodies found in relation to cases. However, Gabe, her boss, is sending her and Wade to look into a case where there is NO body. Viki isn't sure what she can do to help, and is desperate to keep her secret (that she isn't doing so well since the attack and her darker childhood secret). Wade sees right through her act and is determined to get to the heart of Viki and help her heal. Then, he can make her his.I enjoyed the dynamic between Victoria and Wade. He is determined and she is skittish. They both have secrets though. Viki thinks her secret will force Wade to turn her in. She really underestimates him! All this develops while they are looking for a missing girl, and then another girl goes missing. Then the killer targets Viki and it becomes a game of cat and mouse. While some parts of the plot I figured out rather quickly, there was still a twist that I didn't see coming. That rarely happens to me so when it does I am thrilled!Torn is not my favorite of the LOST series but it is still everything I love about Cynthia Eden's books. The sexual chemistry, the danger, the intrigue...its all well crafted and compelling! If you are a fan of romantic suspense, Cynthia Eden needs to be on your go-to author list.  POV: 3rd Tears: no Trope: coworkers/partners Triggers: none Series/Standalone: stand alone in an interconnected series (in this case, something happened to Viki in the previous book, so it really is helpful to have read at least that one! Cliffhanger: (view spoiler)[no (hide spoiler)] HEA: (view spoiler)[yes (hide spoiler)] Books by Katie Reus, LP Dover, Katee Robert, Janie Crouch...then you will probably like Torn!  Torn  See full review on The Book Disciple["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
