A Little Too Hot Audiobook Summary

From USA Today bestselling author Lisa Desrochers comes the third book in her sizzling new adult series.

If you play with fire …

Tossed out of college and cut off by her parents, Samantha West is in pretty dire straits. So when her rocker best friend hooks her up with a job dancing at a gentlemen’s club, who is she to turn it down? Plus, there are rules to dancing at Benny’s: No touching, keep your clothes on at all times, and never get closer than three feet. Unfortunately for Sam, her first private client makes her want to break every single one of them.

Harrison Yates is scorching hot, but he’s got a past that involves being left at the altar not too long ago. Sam is determined to make him forget about his ex, but when she makes her move, it flings her life into a spiral of chaos she never saw coming. Because Harrison Yates isn’t who he seems to be. And his secret will probably get her killed.

This one has to be my favourite of the series!!I think this comment when I first finished the book says it all. This is the third book in the A little too far series by Lisa Desrochers, although it can be read as a standalone novel as it doesn't link to book 1 and 2.The story is about Sam, Lexie's best friend from book 1. Sam has fallen on hard times after being kicked out college, out of her home and also lost her job. Sam turns to her best friend Jonathan to help her out. Jonathan help Sam to get a job as a dancer at a night club. On the first night Sam locks eyes with a handsome stranger who makes her heart beat fast and makes her dance moves sexier like they are the only two in the room. Harrison books Sam for a few private dances where it is clear there is an electric chemistry between them. As Sam attraction for Harrison grows something happens that totally flipped the story around. It was a brilliant twist and I really didn't see it coming. It was a seriously good WTF/OMG moment. I won't say anymore about the plot without spoiling it. Its fast, exciting and action packed story that kept me gripped through out. The chemistry between Sam and Harrison is off the charts. The book definitely lives up to the title of 'A Little too Hot'. The banter between Sam and Harrison great and funny at times.Harrison is a hot alpha male. When we first meet him I knew something wasn't quite right but as I said I so didn't see the twist coming. As the book goes on I fell more in love with Harrison as he began to let his guard down around Sam. I really didn't expect the book to take the direction it did and it was fantastic read. There are lots of twists and turns that keeps you on your toes as to what is going to happen. I liked that Lexie and Trent from book 1 also feature for a tiny part of the book. Now all I can think of is how good it would be to have all three couple from the books together. Overall a beautifully written story which I really enjoyed reading.ARC, provided by publisher via Edelweiss, in exchange for honest review

*ARC Given to Blog for Review*4.5 “Jezebel” “dragonfly” “safe” KissesOMG…this book made me squeal. Like hard core…multiple times…uncontrollable noises were coming from my body. How does a book do that to me?!?! ARGH!!! It was amazing and awesome and I loved it and I love this series and I’m babbling and I don’t care! The angst…the chemistry…the characters…I. Loved. Everything. This was everything I loved about A Little Too Far and A Little Too Much but amped up, put on steroids mixed in a blender with this glorious sexual tension and laid out for my enjoyment. And ladies and gentlemen…I enjoyed immensely. Can you read A Little Too Hot without reading A Little Too Far and A Little Too Much? Absolutely…but…I think it means more if you read them in order. It’s not a deal breaker though.Samantha Erin West…Sam Sam Sam…my little redheaded train wreck. And she really is…the poor girl just can’t seem to get anything right no matter how hard she tries…she’s screwed up in every avenue of her life – she flunked out of college, got fired from her last job, kicked out of her parents house and the one boy she’s loved for most of her teenage years is in love with her bestie, Lexie…who she’s not really best friends with anymore since the whole ‘I’m in love with my step-brother’ convo happened. See? Sounds like a great time to just give up, right? But God bless Sam, she somehow pulls it together and still manages to move forward. With the help of one of the only men that hasn’t abandoned her, her best friend Jonathan, Sam is going to change things…change the way her life is going – she’s full of possibility and promise. She's got a new job and she is going to show everyone that doubted her (including her mother!)...and there is a brief glimpse of hope….and then it all comes crashing down again. And all because of a certain tall, blonde and sexy man with ice blue eyes. “Just put a big red stamp on my forehead. ‘Samantha West: Failure at life.’ Washed up at twenty-one.”His tongue pokes at the labret through the corner of his lower lip as he fights a smile. “You’re not really a failure at life. Just most aspects of it.” Blake Montgomery…or is it Harrison Yates? (for those of you who don’t know who Harrison Yates is…google him, it’s kinda funny). Alright so before I really get into the core of Blake…I have to first go over everything I loved – because there were things I did love about him…so many, I decided he deserves a list:1. He’s from Texas (that’s worth like a million hotness points of me)2. He’s got a super sexy tattoo3. He’s gorgeous…blonde hair, blue eyes, tall, muscles, yummm4. He’s very protective5. He likes country music6. He can cook – hello! Sexy…7. He’s dedicated to his job8. He’s intelligent – like…bordering on brilliant9. He can say some of the sexiest, swooniest things but I am more drawn to his actions and what he says with his eyes than anything else.10. He has a weakness for a certain redhead So…I went through stages with Blake…at first I was so freakin’ into him it was ridiculous – everything that Sam was feeling for him, I was there, I was on the Blake bandwagon. Then…the shit hits the fan and I was so frustrated and angry and sad…I didn’t want to not like him, but I couldn’t help it! He made me so mad…irrationally mad – like to the point of tears because of what he was doing to Sam…or more like the effect his actions were having on Sam…either way – what was happening to Sam was his fault and he knew it and it was not having a positive reaction on anyone. But after the anger and frustration had subsided, we got to know him better…know some more truths about the situation and I guess if you want to call it justification for everything…I got it. I understood Blake…I felt for him and at his core there is one thing that never wavered throughout the course of the book and that’s his determination to keep Sam safe….and I loved that. ‘He shoves a hand through his hair and lowers his gaze. “You make me crazy. I can’t even think when I’m around you.”“I don’t want you to think.”His eyes life to mine as I stalk toward him. They burn with needs as I lay my hands on his chest, then smooth them up to his shoulders.“What about the rules?” he asks, breathily.“Screw the rules.” I push him backward until the sofa takes his legs out from under him, then climb astride his lap.His hands glide over my curves, setting every nerve ending on fire. “I could almost forget the rest of the world exists when I’m in here with you.”’ Sam and Blake…oh boy…they’re interesting. Definitely far from your normal progression of a relationship…the way they meet is different, they way they get to know each other is a little unconventional, you have the normal push and pull but the context of the push and pull is far from the norm. They don’t want to want each other…they really can’t (especially Blake) but they can’t help their attraction and I can’t help but love that. They both had an equally huge weakness for each other. I mean even when Sam had every right to want to punch Blake in the balls…she couldn’t help her feelings for him…and just as much as Blake wanted to be with Sam, his strength and determination against taking it anywhere that it couldn’t go was firm…which while frustrating is admirable. But it’s the little things he did for her that just made me melt…he cooks for her, indulges her in any way he can…I loved that they had the whole karate thing in common…and yet I loved equally how much she couldn’t stand his country music. ‘He closes his eyes and his head drops back on the sofa. “Sam.” His voice is course with pure animal need, but I can’t miss the tinge of despair in it too.“Forget her,” I whisper in his ear. “She’s gone. I’m here.”His Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows hard. I run my lips and my tongue up his throat to the angle of his jaw and he groans. The next second he’s kissing me as if I were his beginning and his end.’ A Little Too Hot is so different and yet so similar to ALTF and ALTM….the build is still there…this is not a quick book where the couple just jumps into this fast love affair, while yes their initial reaction to each other is a little quick, it's still logical...plus their passion and chemistry is developed over weeks of getting to know each other, mixed with other…complications to their already complex scenario. Things are messy at best but I loved the fact that Sam and Blake could not deny what was between them…what had always been between them from the very beginning. But the difference is, this is the first book in the serious where the couple didn’t have any history. In both ALTF and ALTM the couples had known each other…they had shared history, and Sam and Blake didn’t have that…but magically, I felt their connection just as strong as I did the other two couples. Their sexual attraction was amazing but that is not what held them together in my eyes. ‘He shakes his head slowly. “It wasn’t like that. We never…it wasn’t like this,” he says with a wave of his hand between us. “I’ve never been on fire like this for any other woman.”My heart skips. “You’re on fire for me?”He hands his head, but his smoldering gaze stays locked on mine. “Burning alive.”’ Another thing that was different about ALTH was the angst ‘topic’ if you will…of course there was the angst between Sam and Blake…but there were other external factors. I can’t go into specific details because I don’t want to spoil anything but I will say that law enforcement was involved and there is a criminal element to the plot…normally this is where my brain checks out. Honestly…there are very few times that this kind of thing really does it for me – I don’t know why because when it comes to movies/tv shows/etc. I usually love that stuff – but for whatever crazy reason I don’t like it so much in my romance books. In a ALTH I loved it…I ate it up gladly with a big spoonful of more please – I’m not sure if it’s the way it was incorporated or the way Lisa wrote it but I couldn’t get enough and it totally worked for me. ‘There’s something beautiful and tagic in his soul that speaks to mine. I want to know him. I want to know every inch of him.’ Then again there is not a whole lot I can complain about when it comes to Lisa Desrochers’s writing. She grabs me by the metaphorical balls and just gets me in all the right ways. Her detail astounds me…it’s perfection, she always adds just enough description where I feel like I am actually in whatever location she is depicting. I mean…you can read the books if you just want to feel transported all around the world – we’ve gone to Rome, New York and now California…I love it! But I really feel with ALTH the descriptions were bumped up a level because…Sam dances. Describing a dance is…difficult, at least IMO – it’s not easy to give a clear depiction of how the human body can move but damn…I saw it all right in front of my very eyes. And it wasn’t just the detail…I already said she had me physically vocalizing my emotions…I was right there with Sam the entire way. When she was excited, I was excited…when she was scared, I was scared….whatever she was feeling, I was feeling…full on and then some. It was awesome…except for the screaming/squealing part…then I felt kinda crazy – but I’m still okay with it. Another thing…just like with ALTM there was this moment…at 27% actually…where I was just knocked upside the head. That’s twice she has completely blown me away with something I didn’t see coming. That has never happened…I mean, not that I’ve never not seen something coming but two times in a row. That’s just fabulous. Love it. ‘Too soon, he pulls back. There’s fire in his gaze. “Good night, Sam West. I’ll dream about you in that dress tonight.”I kiss him again, just a peck on the lips. “Good night, Blake Montgomery. After a kiss like that, I’ll be dreaming about you too.”’ I am in full on denial that the A Little Too Far series is over…there is no way. Nope…I refuse to believe it. We still need Katie’s story…especially with the little development that happened at Lexie’s wedding…plus now I’m all into Jonathan (Sam’s BFF is a little man whoring rock star and I LOVE him!)…plus Ginger (Jonathan’s girlfriend)…she’s a little quirky, but I kinda like her. So…I’m going to beg for more and sit here in denial that it’s over…cause I don’t want it to be.

A Little Too Hot is so very HOT!!!I can not tell you how hot it is. From the very first I was hooked and it kept getting better and Better.I never thought I would love it so much, but oh man, I do! If you have read the previous two books in this Hot series you know it can get really steamy in here quick. And in this latest, Gosh it was steamy from the first I read about that stranger Harrison!Oh my Harrison! I'm not trying to swear but Oh My Gosh! He's so hot and I thought Alessandro from A Little Too Much was hot, Harrison is to die for~Okay so we have Samantha whom we met in book one, A Little Too Far who was Trent's girlfriend and bestie to his step-sister, Lexie. If you've read the book you know what all came down. We also got a mixed feeling for Sam in that book, but now she has her own story. So Sam has been kicked out of her home by her mother and has no job or a place to stay. Therefore she asked her friend Jonathan to stay with him and his roommate. He agrees but hooked her up at a gentlemen's bar (not to mistake it for a strip club) to pay for her share of the rent.Sam obliges and gets the job dancing for the customers and so on.But sparks starts to fly when she spots a Mysterious gentleman and once she got a called to dance privately for the Mysterious gentleman, she couldn't help herself but want to get under him and throw the rules over her head of no touching, close contact, and all those no nos with the customers. So there are more private VIPs with Mr. Harrison Yates and some super sweaty hot scenes which, trust me, they were worth it!But of course things aren't always what they seems and once Sam crossed that road of client and something more with Harrison, she threw herself into unknown territory with him.Harrison as you may know has secrets and well, they are hug depending how you want to see it. They change the story dramatically which I love because it made the story even better! It's really hard not to love him.I really love how Lisa once again got my mind and heart pounding! I couldn't put the book down and was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole read! And I also read it in One Whole Seating! Should I even say there was some suspense? I know I got that from the previous book but it really worked in this one! And the twists and turns!!! Oh man. I had to take a breather just to let everything settled in. Shall I say this was both before and after the turns of events?!Every time I turned the pages I just get thrown in and out of feeling really tighten up with nervousness or holding my breath in....some kind of swooning senselessness! Harrison is just a God!! My goodness! It actually got me thinking about working at a gentlemen's bar if I can find a man that Hot and Sexy! Wow!And even though it was in the POV of Sam like all the other previous books with only the heroine's view, I didn't mind it but gosh how I would love to get into Harrison's head!I also really loved the chemistry between Sam and Harrison. They have a really hot and great chemistry. Not just because they have a very different background but because their sex drive and hunger for each other was so strong and out of the world that I couldn't ignore it. Even from the very beginning it was there and not just because Sam was dressed skimpy in barely nothing or getting it down on the pole but man, I swear I could feel their sexiness oozing out of my Kindle!I just got to say I didn't think Lisa can pull any thing up against Alessandro but man I was wrong.Harrison is my sexy Hunk for this year's 'Gotta have that Hunky Hot Sex Abs'! I might even have to start that Meme after him.Wow, I'm getting hot and giddy and you just have to pick this baby up when it releases! Thank you Lisa and the people at Harper Collins for giving me this opportunity to read this book!!! Phew. But if you really want to know how this book made me feel, I suggest you watch Bruno Mars’ Gorilla music video. Hot~!!!This eARC was provided by the Publishers via Edelweiss.Rate: 5 / 5

Dark Faerie Tales

January 16, 2014

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: A hot new adult romance with surprising plot twists, sexual tension, and great characters. All new adult contemporary fans should pick this one up.Opening Sentence: A cool April drizzle pricks my face as I stand in the poorly lit parking lot of the Fremont Pharmacy with my roll-away suitcase. The Review:Sam’s life has been a downward spiral lately. She just recently lost her job, her parents kicked her out, and the boy she has been in love with forever is marrying her best friend. A job opportunity to dance at a club is presented to her, and even though its not ideal Sam really has no other choice but to take it. Plus, this particular club has rules: No taking your clothes off and no touching. But on her first night she see’s the most gorgeous man out in the crowd and she wouldn’t mind breaking all the rules with him.Harrison Yates is beyond hot, but his heart is on the mend since he recently got dumped by his long time fiancée. Sam would love to help him forget all his troubles, but when she makes her move everything goes up in flames. Turns out breaking the rules will possibly lose her more than just her job. Now both her heart and life are in dire jeopardy of being destroyed.Sam is a totally adorable character and I loved her. Obviously her life has not gone the way she planned, but instead of giving up she does what she has to make it through the tough times. While she’s not always the most positive about her situation, she never became nagging or annoying about it like a lot of characters can be. She was realistic about it, and that made her so much more relatable to me. She was strong when things got hard and I really admired her as a character. Being inside her head was very entertaining and I loved reading her story.Harrison is total ”mind candy.” Just thinking about him makes me all hot and bothered. Not only does he have killer looks but he is sweet, driven, and full of secrets. Everything about Harrison was intriguing to me and he has become one of my favorite book boys. His relationship with Sam is perfection. It is full of sexual tension, steamy moments, and deep conversations. They have instant chemistry, but their situation makes a relationship very complicated. Everything was developed so well and I completely fell in love with them as a couple.A Little too Hot was a fantastic read, the best one in the series. The story was interesting and very entertaining. The characters were relatable and so much fun to get to know. The plot had some twists that took me completely by surprise, which I loved. I read a lot a of books so when a author manages to surprise me it is really impressive. I pretty much loved everything about this book and I would highly recommend it. If you like new adult contemporary novels with lots of steam and intrigue this is a must read for you.Notable Scene:“So all I have to do is dance.”“Absolutely,” she said with a sharp nod.I breathe deep. “Yeah. Ready.”She pushes the door open and I walk in. The room is dimly lit by a single torch lamp with a red shade in the corner. A fan whirring on the ceiling dries the sheen of sweat on my skin, sending goose bumps skittering over my exposed flesh. There’s music playing in the background, a slow Bruno Mars song, and along the back wall is a red velvet sofa. There’s a guy on the sofa, and when I see who it is, my hammering heart stalls.FTC Advisory: William Morrow Impulse/Harper Collins provided me with a copy of A Little Too Hot. A Little Too Hot by Lisa Desrochers is a 2014 Avon publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. The last time we checked in on Sam, she was finding out the guy she was in love with was in love with someone else. If that weren't shocking enough, when she finds out who he is in love with, Sam is devastated. Since then, Sam has been having a few problems. She is still brokenhearted, she partied more than studied and has flunked out of college, she was kicked out of her parents home, and now she has found that finding a place to sleep free of charge is not going to happen. Crashing at her musician friend's place, she is told that if she wants to stay she has to pay rent. Jonathan tells her about a place that is looking for help. The catch? She would have to be an exotic dancer. At first Sam balks at his suggestion- until she finds out how much money she can make. So, she gives it a try. After her first very successful dance, she finds she has caught the eye of a very hot guy. He is so taken with her, he pays for a private dance. His name is Harrison and Sam is finding it harder and harder to obey the rules of the private dance room, which means no touching. But, Sam finds her crush on Harrison is the least of her worries. It doesn't take long for Harrison to turn Sam's life upside down for real- because Harrison is not who he claims to be. Not only that, he drags Sam into an extremely dangerous situation that could get them all killed.I was happy to find this third novel in the series to be a bit more edgy. Things are going along at a pretty good clip for the first several chapters. I'm wondering where we are going with all this because I can't really see Sam making a career out of exotic dancing. However, I was sucker punched when we find out what Harrison has been up to all that time. What? Are you kidding me?Then things just go from bad to worse. Sam and her friends are all in for the fight of their lives. Sam will have to put up with Harrison for a while and now she wishes she could escape from him and get her life back. This book took me into a seedy world of crime and greed that pulled several innocent people down into it's depths. I would go so far as to say this novel would fit into the romantic suspense genre in some ways. While the author's style is still there, I can see this author's talent growing with each book I read by her. This was a great read, very high octane and sexy, and emotional as well, especially when we see Sam getting a little closure in regards to relationships from the past, and the promise of a solid future. This one gets an A.

5 stars - Scorching hot with some surprisesFirst Impression...I've been meaning to get to this series but haven't had time. Since this one is stand along, I was excited to jump in. Plus, that cover is smokin' hot.The Story...This story captured my interest from the first page. I was totally drawn into Sam's mess. And she really has one. Failed out of college and given some tough love by her parents, she finds herself desperate enough to take a job dancing to make the rent. But what really surprised me was the fact that I didn't find myself judging her. Yeah, she's made some poor choices but she's growing up and that happens. Her mess is fixable...well at least at first. I was a little put out by her parents. I get why they cut her off but even if you stop throwing money at it they could have at least continued to call her. That kinda had my mama bear claws out. The Characters...Okay, Sam spends 90 minutes alone with Harrison and she's fallen for him. I know, you're crying NO insta-love. No worries. The falling is chemistry. Some smokin' hot chemistry. And I think you have to count some of the time Sam was dancing and Harrison was watching her. His attention has a very strong affect on her. I never felt it was contrived. Instead, I loved Sam and her willingness to work hard to figure things out. When the mess becomes worse, I love that she grows up enough to realize she really hasn't made the best choices. Made me love the girl and I, so, have her back. No bad mouthing the dancer on my watch. As for Harrison, I will admit to figuring something out just before it went down. And, while I should be mad at the boy, I just can't be. His situation is tough. And he makes up for it in the end - I think. Love them both. The Writing...I completely loved the writing. There's been some books lately that I've struggled with and I was so in need of a good one. When time went by in the story, I never felt like I'd missed a bunch and story flowed well. There was just the right amount of action and summary. Very enjoyable to read.Could I put it down? Did I want to? NO. Did I have to? Yes. Read it over a couple of nights but I could have easily read it straight through if I had the time. I certainly didn't want the breaks. I found myself thinking about it at work and wondering about things. In The End...Just what I needed after some less than great reads lately. I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone who loves a very HOT romance with a few surprises.

I didn't think I was going to like this book because I didn't like Sam in A Little Too Far but this book was exciting and emotional. not a dull moment. Glad I picked it up.

I really had no idea how this story would play out. The blurb definitely doesn't give much away so to avoid any spoilers I won't be disclosing much in regards to the plot. Let me put it this way. At around 27% I think my mouth literally dropped open in shock. And I may or may not have used an expletive. Or two. With that being said, I definitely enjoyed the premise and direction of this book even if some aspects reminded me of another book I had read not too long ago. Desrochers made this plot her own and I really liked the direction she took it. Sure, some of it was on the predictable side, but as I said above, there were a few WTF moments. I wasn't sure how I would like Sam's character in this book. In A Little Too Far, I didn't want to like her very much because she was interested in Trent as well and I wanted him and Lexie together from the very start. Sam has every right to be angry with the two of them, as she feels betrayed by her best friend and the guy she was really falling for. Since then her life has really spiraled out of control and I really felt for her. Not only has she lost her best friend and the guy she liked, but her family hasn't been overly supportive either and told her she needed to move out. Now, jobless and homeless, Sam turns to her friend Jonathan for help. Jonathan is a musician and knows how hard up Sam is. He ends up helping to get her a job at a gentleman's club, where she will dance and hopefully earn tips that way. Sam is a fighter. I loved that the most about her. She seriously has some really crappy luck, but doesn't give up and wallow away in self pity. She does what she needs to do and while she isn't entirely comfortable dancing for men, she ends up making the most of it. And boy does she ever. Especially when she zones in on an extremely attractive guy out in the audience. Dancing for him is easy- she feels sexy and definitely works it up on stage when he's there. He also notices her and ends up paying for a private dance with her. You can tell right away Harrison is not one of those slimy, gross guys that usually frequent the club. Instead of dancing for him, the two end up talking. The sexual tension between them is definitely steamy but only can go so far. Clients and dancers are not allowed to interact, but Sam and Harrison find the lines blurring the more he comes back and spends time with her. I liked Harrison's character. He was a good listener for Sam and was understanding of what she was going through. He didn't make her feel cheap, despite her current job status. Sam and Harrison's relationship is anything but easy. It fact, it's incredibly complicated and only gets more so as the book progresses. Harrison has not been completely honest with Sam and things really start to spiral out of control. She is beyond pissed and hurt, as she thought the two shared a connection. As much as she wishes Harrison would just leave her alone, he can't, and the two find themselves stuck in a less than ideal situation. Tension is so high (and not just the sexual kind either) and it was fun watching to see who would crack under pressure first. Again, Sam's life is thrown into chaos and yet she still manages to roll with the punches. I completely admire her for everything she's gone through and how she ends up handling everything. As hurt as she is by Harrison, she still is able to see him as the good guy he really is and eventually comes to an understanding regarding him. After having felt deceived by so many people she cares about, she feels Harrison's deception is the last straw and that is why she was so blind to the depth of his true feelings towards her. I loved that Desrochers has created such strong, but vulnerable characters in Sam and Harrison. They are definitely a new favorite couple and their scenes together were so laced with tension and deliciousness I felt I would combust. I really liked that the plot was more action packed and filled with suspense than the other two and I just thought it felt fitting of Sam's crazy life. I definitely recommend picking this book up! While the other characters from A Little Too Far and A Little Too Much make a brief cameo, it's not necessary to read the other two first to understand this book.*Received a copy of this book via Edelweiss and the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

Let me start off saying, I'm very excited to participate in the A Little Too Hot Blog Tour! This is my first blog tour, so please, bare with me. I had certain expectations for A Little Too Hot after reading A Little Too Far and A Little Too Much... And let me just say this now: Desrochers does NOT disappoint! A Little Too Far was one of my most highly anticipated novels of last year. Come on--hooking up with your stepbrother? That just screams sexy and trouble! After reading Lexie's story and loving Desrocher's writing, I knew I had to follow up with whatever she wrote next. In all honesty, it took me a couple of pages to realize who exactly Sam was. I'd read Lexie's story a while back, so at first it didn't click that the Sam I was reading about now was Lexie's best friend, Sam! Everything I'd previously read before made so much more sense once I realized that.A Little Too Hot starts right in the middle of things. Sam's just been fired from her job and with the help of a friend, she lands another gig... this one dancing at a gentlemen's club. Sam's hesitant but she needs the money and even though she's dancing in scantily clad clothes, she's not taking anything off. Not realizing that this Sam was the one from A Little Too Far, I started her story without any previous prejudices. The side of Sam we got in A Little Too Far was the bratty, best friend side--which doesn't do Sam any justice at all. The Sam I got to know in this book was so much more--determined, feisty, sensual and sweet. Sam and Harrison meet her first night working at Benny's, and from that very first dance, you know their chemistry is going to be wickedly hot and explosive.Harrison... He completely blew me away--and not only because of the turn of events. Harrison's much more complex than you'd originally think. He has his fare share of skeletons in his closet, but there's more to his past than he originally lets on. He's strong, sexy, infuriating, protective--everything I want in a hero. Just like the story's twists and turns take us by surprise, Sam takes him completely by surprise. Just getting out of a eight year relationship, Harrison isn't looking for anything serious. At all. But one look at Sam and he's hooked. I was expecting a scorchingly hot and steamy romance between the two main characters. What I got instead was all this angst and built-up desire bubbling to the surface with each look, with each touch. Their situation is a complicated one and Desrochers wrote and handled it perfectly, with just the right amount of tease. Sam and Harrison are very, very, very attracted to each other, but they refuse to give in despite the sexual tension. And, yes, while that made it that much more explosive once they finally got together, I admired Sam's stance and refusal to so easily overlook Harrison's lies. Another thing I loved: Sam and Harrison don't change each other; one doesn't save the other from a troubled past. What they do is heal and complement each other. Sam isn't this broken girl, but she is a little bruised. Same thing with Harrison. Their relationship is a give and take, even from the beginning, even if it doesn't seem like it. Lastly, I was so happy Desrochers decided to include Lexie's wedding reception scene! Sam and Lexie's reconciliation was one I was hoping for. The only thing I had a slight problem with was the mole revelation in the end. It wasn't that I saw it coming (because I kind of did), but the hasty manner in which it was revealed was sort of anticlimactic. Nevertheless, A Little Too Hot is a book I won't be forgetting anytime soon! Every once in a while you read books that completely take you by surprise. This is one of them.If you're looking for a sexy read to keep you on your toes with just the right amount of kick, A Little Too Hot is just the book you're looking for.For more reviews, visit my blog at Bittersweet Reads.

Review originally posted at Step Into FictionActual rating: 4.5If you have NOT read A Little Too Far & A Little Too Much, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .While this technically can be read as a standalone, I don't recommend it. Not because you'll be completely lost, because you won't, but because you'll be missing out on a lot. Seriously, the first book, A Little Too Far, was absolutely amazing while A Little Too Much wasn't as good, it was entertaining enough. I was a little skeptical going in to this book because of my disappointment with the second book but I am here to tell you, this book was almost as good as the first one. Almost.I hated Sam in the first book. She got on my nerves and on more than one occasion I wanted to hit her. So when I found out she was getting her own book I was devastated. This is the main reason why coming in to this book I was skeptical. How could I enjoy a book with a girl I couldn't stand two books ago? I didn't see it ending well . . .Sam's life is a wreck. From the heartbreaking break up with her latest boyfriend, the betrayal of her best friend and to top all that off, she's been fired from her most current job. She was kicked out of her parents house after she was kicked out of school. Her life is falling a part, one thing at a time. When people are desperate, they end up doing things they regret. What's she probably regret? Dancing at a gentleman's club where her life took a new turn for the worst. If you think that's as bad as it gets, you haven't read anything yet . . .Harrison, whose the love interest in this book, was introduced to us on Sam's first night dancing and every night she worked I looked forward to seeing him as much as she did. He was mysterious, he was broken, he was sexy and he got Sam's blood pumping. It's been awhile since a guy has had that effect on her and it was just so genuine. This book is so hard to talk about without throwing any spoilers your way. If you were to find out some of the twists of this book, you'd be so disappointed while reading because the surprise would've been taken out for you. But oh my gosh, this book is full of everything I wanted . . . well mostly everything. I would've liked to seen more of a few past characters . . . if you know what I mean. But this book had so many moments where I was on the edge of my seat thanks to the suspense that came along with this story but also moments where I was holding my breath, hoping these two characters would have another 'moment' and maybe we'd get to see some sexy times between them.If you're looking for a New Adult book (or something slightly more mature than Young Adult) that's contemporary but adds the mystery/thriller factor to it, I think this is a good book for you. It's not scary, so don't think it's that kind of thriller but there is a lot of action, back-stabbing, suspense and some violence. Not to mention some sex, kissing and all the other good stuff you want to in a New Adult book.I believe this is the final book in this series and this makes me depressed. I need more. Not getting more is seriously going to make me weep. But who knows, maybe I'll go back to re-read these books, or at least the first one just to fall in love with these characters all over again. I may shock myself and look at Sam in a different light after having read this book. That would certainly be interesting.Thank you so much to HarperCollins for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Rockstar Book Tours for allowing me to take part in this blog tour. As always, I am honored that you choose me in some of your tours. You both are amazing so thank you for what you do.
