Listen to Me Audiobook Summary

In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors–and into her heart.

Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him–his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school–he’s all bad boy…exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need.

Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him.

Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?

4 stars! It’s been a while since I’ve read a Kristen Proby book. After reading some crazy angst-filled books, I needed something sweet, sexy and light on the drama and I knew her newest read would fit the bill. I was right. Listen to Me was just the book I needed.Addison Wade is a co-owner of Seduction (a hot new restaurant) with her four best friends. Addie is a sucker for the bad boy and always chooses the wrong guy. It’s her thing. When Jake Keller comes to audition for her restaurant, they’re hiring a musician, she knows she needs to stay far, far away. Jake is just the type of guy that she's always gone for and that type of guy is 100% trouble. The thing is, Jake isn’t really the way she thinks he is. And he’s hard to resist. Jake Keller was a very successful musician, but five years ago he walked away from it all. Now he spends his time producing music and out of the limelight. He has his reasons. He hasn’t been in a serious relationship in a while, but when he meets Addie, he knows he has to have her. And she’s not the kind of girl he can just be with a few times. He wants her completely. “I need someone who calls me out on my bullshit. I need someone who sees the fire in my eyes and wants to play with it, not try to extinguish it. I need someone who challenges me; in the bedroom, in my career, in my crazy head. And you know what? I found all of that in you.”
I loved both Jake and Addie. Neither were perfect and both had some hang ups from past relationships and issues, but they were great together. The mistakes they made I completely understood and weren’t over the top and didn’t take away from their love story. Kristen Proby always writes with heart. Her stories are always heartwarming, funny, sexy and sweet. I really love that I know what to expect when I read one of her books and am rarely disappointed. This book was a promising start to a new series- all of the characters intrigued me and I can’t wait to read more of these stories! Bring on Cami and Landon and their best friends brother story!!!

*****FOUR STARS*****{ARC Provided by Edelweiss} This is a brand new series by Kristen Proby that centers around five girlfriends who co-own the hottest new restaurant in Portland called Seduction. Their restaurant offers the most delicious food with a sexy ambiance. Each friend will get their own romantic story. This first installment is about Addie. She is the Manager of the restaurant. Addie was a model at one time but left because she didn’t want to live her life always watching what she eats. She also has huge abandonment issues stemming from her dysfunctional relationship with her parents and her poor choices in boyfriends. Addie is normally drawn to the bad boy musicians, who always end up breaking her heart in the end. The story opens with Addie catching her current “bad boy” having sex with two women in her apartment, proving yet again to her that she is incapable of being loved by a man.Jake Knox was the lead singer of the group Hard Knox. The band broke up a few years ago due to a personal tragedy. Jake has given up performing but he has been writing songs and producing them for other artists. After three years of not performing he decides to go to an open mic night and that’s where he and Addie cross paths. He’s instantly attracted to her and she happens to be at the club looking for a musician to perform at Seduction on the weekends. He ends up getting the job and eventually after some persistent flirting, he gets Addie to go out with him. From there the relationship starts to get hot and heavy. But all the while Addie tries to withhold her heart from Jake because she is positive he will end up annihilating her in the end.It took me a while to warm up to this story. It seemed a bit slow in the beginning and I literally lost count as to how many times Jake called Addie, ”BEAUTIFUL”!! I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. It wasn’t until he makes an ass of himself and jeopardizes the relationship that I started to get engrossed in the story. Plus the sexy times are pretty steamy.I really enjoyed the bits we get of the next couple in the series. It will be a ”Friends to Lovers” romance and the hero is the best friend's older brother!! Right up my alley!!! I’m still very optimistic about this series and can’t wait for book two.

NOW LIVE!!!*Amazon US*Amazon UK*Barnes & Noble*Kristen Proby has done it again! This is just yet another amazing book from her, and a great start to a new series. The Fusion series is about five, very different, friends that open a restaurant together and navigate through life, always being there for one another. Truly a spectacular story.Listen to Me focuses mainly on Addison Wade, proud part owner of Seduction, and the person who has to look for a musician to play at the restaurant on weekends. Her search leads her to an open mic night where she sees Jake Keller aka Jake Knox, former rockstar perform. Jake left the limelight five years ago after a tragic accident that he blames himself for. But he misses being able to get up and perform for people, and writing songs for other artist just isn't the same as singing them himself. His best friend urges him to go to Seduction and ask for the musician spot, and when he does he spots Addie, the girl he saw on open mic night and wanted to know more about. But Addie has dealt with the bad boy rockstars in the past and she's done with dating musicians - or so she thinks. I've actually had this books on my Kindle for awhile and I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I loved meeting all the new characters that we'll get to read about in this series. The book told us a lot about the friends but not too much that it took away from the main characters and their story. Oh and we got some mentions of Leo Nash!I loved Jake and Addie as characters, and didn't have any issue's with them throughout the book. Usually there will be at least something that bugs me about a character but with them I just loved everything. They were very real and there was nothing fake about them. I thought they were really well developed characters and KP gave us enough information from their pasts to keep them interesting, but not too much that we got sucked into a past story that didn't have relevance to the book, which can happen sometimes. There was a little bit of drama near the end that I could have done without, but it didn't make me hate Jake or Addie. By the time the book ended I had mostly forgotten about it, and was back to loving the story.Bottom line, this was a great story and I can't wait for everyone to get to read it. The ending wasn't a cliffhanger but it did hint at the next book and will make you want that story ASAP, so be prepared.ARC kindly provided via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

This audiobook was well narrated and engaging. I listened to it fairly quickly as the story was smooth and flowed really well.Addison Wade and four other friends owned a restaurant called Seduction together. In order to add more flavor to their establishment, they decided to hire a singer to perform there. During auditions, Jake Keller, former lead singer of a defunct boy band, performed a song and made an impression. He was eventually hired to play at Seduction.Jake made his interest in Addison known fairly quickly, but Addison who had a pennant for bad boy rockers tried her best to resist him. Eventually, Jake wore her down and they began dating. The story was told using a Dual Point of View so we could spend equal time in Jake and Addy’s head. They were both working out past issues that were added weight to their new blossoming relationship. Addison used to be a model but was now considered too curvy. Jake had overcome addiction and now worked hard to remain sober and present in his new reality. They were both really likable characters and their respective friends added a nice supporting cast to this love story. I can’t say the story was dissimilar to books in this genre but it was entertaining nonetheless. I couldn’t put it down because I really connected with Addison and loved Jake as a hero too. They were flawed characters but they were so relatable and delightful. Addison felt like a person everyone knows and cares about. You can only hope they would find their Jake someday. It hit all the right chords within me. I had a great time reading this book.It was pretty low on angst but there was still an emotional pull towards the main characters. I had read this author once before and it was just an okay experience. But this story was more developed and the characters had more depth. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to book 2. * *Special Thanks to William Morrow Paperback via Edelweiss for the book given in exchange for an honest review*

I really love Kristen Proby because her books are extremely refreshing and with a very familiar vibe. You become extremely addictive to the plot and characters and you begin to want to know more about this universe she built within her books.I enjoyed so much The Boudreaux Series and last week I actually wanted something light and funny to keep me up all night, so I chose another one of her series to see if it does the trick for me again. It actually worked, because I am planning to continue the series. So, "Listen to Me" is the first book from The Fusion Series and here we meet Jake and Addie, 2 extremely different characters who try to leave their pasts and fears behind in order to start over.Addie had a lot of bad luck in love, experiencing broken heart issues mainly with artists/ musicians. After dozens of this episodes, she finally learns a lesson and try to not mingle with this type of men. So she is determined to ignore the gorgeous Jake that wants to play in her fancy restaurant "Seduction". Jake is not in the spotlight anymore, but his love for music is still very much alive. When Addie gives him the opportunity to continue doing what he loves in her restaurant, he is there in a second, but also extremely attracted to her. You know what I liked about the characters? They were very easy to relate to and normal. They didn't have a complex past, with tragic things that had to be discovered. Addie had trust issues, beginning with her love life and ending with her parents, and this made her vulnerable and very hard to trust someone again completely. Jake made some mistakes in his life and payed the consequences, and because of a certain period in his life, he believed that he couldn't be loved, that everybody around him gets hurt. He also stop singing and focused more on producing, but his mind was constantly at his first love. They will learn to trust each other, to leave their past behind and open their hearts in order to have a future together.   This book is perfect if you want something sexy, adorable, light and funny. I like the focus Kristen puts on family and friends, on unity and trust. It is very important while reading a book to have good examples of friendship, of a good environment, because in this way you can aspire to have it in your life as well. I think that by default, you will like to be closer to your friends, to be more successful, to follow your dreams and pursue a goal. It made me more ambitious and showed me how normal people can manage something through ambition and dedication. I loved the good vibe this book gave me and this encouraged me to continue this series, because there are a lot of characters there that are worthy and I'll think they will provide us with excellent stories down the road. 4 stars! Published: 2016 :: 5 Pretty Little Stars :: This book is a GREAT start to an all new series and I can’t wait to see where the author takes all the rest of the characters (who are secondary in this novel). Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It’s a pretty light read and not packed with dramatics. The heroine is someone all females can relate to and the hero is one hot man with whom we can all fall in love with. He (Jake) is a tattooed musician and she (Addison) is a sweet, strong, caring, and easily likeable. So why did I decide to read this one? Well, I bought this book on a whim at my local bookstore when I saw it standing on the new release display and was immediately drawn to the cover. Once I read the blurb a few times (to make sure it was really going to be something I would enjoy) I decided to go ahead and purchase a copy. Well, I am so glad I did and I certainly plan to read the rest of the series as they are released. Normally I won’t pick up these books in paperback, especially when I am not too familiar with the author, but in this case I am glad I did and will happily display it as one of my favorites on my book shelf. So yes, I highly recommend this read. It’s really great! This story is about Addison who is a partial owner of a new restaurant called Seduction. She and four of her best friends (who will each receive their own story in this series) are doing really well business wise but to add a bit more spice to their restaurant they decide to hire a musician to play on the weekends. So when Addison goes to a local club on open mic night to find someone who will fit she is immediately drawn to the smooth voice and killer looks of Jake Keller (aka Knox). But then she realizes that he used to be in a band that all her friends have fangirled over. At first Addison wants nothing to do with this because she knows how rock stars are and doesn’t want to be involved in the dramatics. But once she gets to know him her views start to change. And the cocky yet completely charming Jake begins to make a big difference in her life. But can Addison get over his bad boy image and the fact that he is a former rockstar? You’ll have to read to find out!Fans of the author will definitely want to start out this all new series. Even those who love a sweet romance with some very SPICY scenes. I enjoyed it immensely and I can’t wait until August when book 2 comes out (which will feature a different BFF/couple). Is this one highly recommend? YES! Pick up this one.
