Rome audiobook

A few pages in and I already wanna climb Rome like a tree. There.I said it.This book gave me every one of the feels. Jay is brilliant. Rome is delicious. I adored him and Cora together. Sigh.....

4-4.5 Stars!!! Jay Crownover’s third installment of the Marked Men series was about Rule’s older brother, Rome (aka Captain no-fun) and his friend Cora (aka Tink or Half-pint). Rome had all the steam, fun loving moments and captivating characters that drew me in with Rule. Rome Archer is back from his final tour with the Army. He is home and he’s not been himself since he’s been back. He has issues with his family, and his time spent at war left it's mark. He’s changed. And lets be honest, he’s been quite an ass since he’s been back. Everyone in the group is trying to just let it slide for now, except Cora. This little tattooed pixie gives him a piece of her mind when he says something out of line about his brother, Rule, who happens to be one of her best friends. Cora is spunky, feisty and a wonderful leading lady! She seems more put together than Rome, but she has her issues too. She’s been marked by her past just like Rome. She’s had her heart broken in the worst way, and now she is very cautious about giving it away. She’s not sure if she ever will. At least not until she finds ‘Mr. Perfect.’ In order to make the same mistake, to prevent myself from giving my heart away so carelessly, I was bound and determined to wait for a guy who was all in with me. I wasn’t settling for anything less than perfection, even if I had to wait forever to find it. Rome and Cora are seeing each other more often. They run with the same group so it’s bound to happen. One night, Rome is having a hard time and calls the shop for Rule to come fetch him from the Bar. Cora knows Rule is busy, so she decides to go help. From there it all begins. Cora is attracted to Rome. You would have to be blind not to be. He is all muscle, bright blue eyes, ex army alpha male. The feeling is mutual. There is something different about Cora. She is unlike any other girl Rome knows. They both want one another. In one night of passion, they give into all their desires. Cora starts to re-think her ideas of Mr. Perfect... Rome is closed off to everyone, but there is something about Cora that can bring him out of his shell little by little. He is intrigued by her. Just hanging out with her makes his life more bright. He doesn’t want to give that up. The two seem like opposites. Rome is a big guy. He is strong, stoic and tough. Cora is physically much smaller, has lots of ink and piercings, and is a spitfire. Despite all their difference, they have things in common. Both are loyal and protective of their friends and family, caring and they have things they are dealing with. Rome and Cora have a lot of obstacles to face. Rome has to deal with his guilt, PTSD, depression and nightmares and Cora needs to get over her fear of falling deep in love and having that person leave. They struggle. They come together. They fall apart. Healing isn’t always easy, but when the two were finally able to get it together, it was incredible. Overall, Rome was a beautiful romance. Not only was it sexy and sweet, but it had just enough emotion and humor to make it the entire package. I was a bit disappointed by Jet’s book, so I was very excited that I loved this book! Even though Rule has been my favorite book in the Marked Men series so far (I really adore Rule), I can say with absolute certainty that Rome is my favorite Archer brother! I love these characters. I root for these couples. They really are a great group of people. Not only was it nice to read about Cora and Rome, but was wonderful to catch up with Rule, Shaw, Jet, Ayden, Nash, Rowdy, Asa and the rest of the gang. The ending left with a slight cliffhanger (though not with the couple). I’m excited that Nash gets his book next and I’m hoping it features a certain red-headed nurse ;) He wasn’t perfect, I wasn’t perfect, but the love we had for each other... nothing was more perfect than that. ***ARC kindly provided by William Morrow via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review***

Ah, I loved this. So not what I was expecting, but in a good--no, great way. I think Rome might be my favorite out of all the guys so far.

Rome and Cora are my favorite so far. I love how the fiery pixie sees beyond the rough exterior to the man inside. Rome is so honest and straightforward that even when he messes up, you want to cuddle and protect him. Cora has had her heart broken and is afraid to love. Rome is a broken man with PSTD trying to find his place in the world beyond the military. Their story starts off with sass, attitude, and spilt beer but ends with sweet happiness for these two. They are absolutely awesome together and deal with the unexpected quite well. Sexually these two burn astronomically hot. You may need to stand by the AC/fan lol They have their bumps along the path, but compliment each other in the right ways. The plot was constructed well with great pacing. This is not the first in the series to have some pretty intense drama but I felt if did it best in my opinion. The characters are unique and dynamic. Their contrast adds to the appeal. Their development was done really well. I really enjoyed this story! ;) Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No condoms. No rape/abuse. Please note that the H is dealing with PSTD and Survivor's Guilt, so if these are triggers, proceed with caution and understanding.

Well, maybe after battling the demons he has festering in his psyche. I loved Cora (aka Tink) and her “no holds barred” personality, especially for being such a little pixie.This was another great story in the lives of “The Marked Men” and not only is this a story of finding love but it’s also a story of “self-discovery”. Both Rome and Cora will venture outside the safety of their protective walls to trust and try to experience life without their life-jackets. They take the plunge into each other along with the support and love of their family and friends.CoraWe have met Cora in the previous books since she is the “body piercer” at the shop. She is tiny but she is a bull who takes no crap from anyone. She is everyone’s surrogate “mother” who is always there to give advice, listen or help to any of the guys or her girlfriends. Cora may help everyone else but she doesn’t take advice from the others when they tell her that she is on a useless mission by waiting for “Mr. Perfect”, but Cora won’t listen because her past was too painful with the lying cheating bastard (aka her ex). Rule and Rome are constantly going at it because of Rome’s surly attitude and drinking binges, but it isn’t until Rome gets knocked on his ass by this little Tink….(or half-pint) that he realizes it’s time to clean up his act.There is also a guardian angel looking over Rome in the form of a bar-owner who takes Rome under his wing and helps him heal, one soldier to another. Through hard work and therapy, Rome realizes that he actually did have something to come home to. He is needed and he is loved and not a worthless soldier drowning his sorrows in alcohol. But don’t get me wrong, Rome has many obstacles to hurdle over through the book and it may even take the ultimate sacrifice to get Cora to understand how serious about the future.Wrap-UpBy the end of the story – the next book in the series is already being set up with Nash and a mysterious angel from the group’s past. Well well well, I like Rome. I have a softie for a military romance. And Rome is a perfect fit. He is broody, mysterious, strong and so alpha male. An alpha male with a big giant soft heart. I do love how his encountered with Cora developed into much more. A surprise pregnancy seals the deal between Cora and Rome. Cora is tough to swallow but I get her at the end. She is such a big mama bear. A perfect match for Rome's giant mussy big bear heart. Both of them are so protective. Overall what a wonderful read. 4 stars
