The Grand Finale Audiobook Summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author comes a revised, repackaged novel sure to please her many fans. She writes “high speed comic mayhem” (Detroit Free Press); she’s “a blast of fresh air” (Washington Post); “side-splitting funny” (Publishers Weekly) and “a winner” (Glamour). In other words, she’s Janet Evanovich.

Berry Knudson had a talent for disaster, but when she climbed a tree to rescue a kitten, she wasn’t prepared for the scrumptious hunk undressing in a nearby window, or her dive downward that smashed Jake Sawyer’s pizza and won his heart! But was there room in her chaotic schedule for a risk-taking inventor with dreams? She took classes, delivered pizzas, and cared for three eccentric old ladies she rescued from the train station. But Jake thrived on a challenge, and he could be very inventive. Could he teach her there was time to make butterscotch pudding and let herself be loved?

This was the last book in her romance series and I loved them all but this was one of the best of them! A lot of people don't like romance, its to unrealistic or cheesy for them. Janet Evanovich does end her stories happily and they might be a bit cheesy, but I'm reading a book I don't want a big dose of reality here. I want to escape my reality for a minute and that is something she does brilliantly with all her books. These romances are so funny. The characters are very realistic with problems and issues and quirks, just like us. Sometimes there is a bit of mystery or some kind of hardship woven into the story. By the time I get to the last page, I love the characters and I'm sad to close the book. If you love romance, give these a try. If you think romance is not for you, give these a try. If you like to laugh, give these books a try. Janet Evanovich is a hoot!

I come back to this book every time I need to happy break - a push to chill out. I've lost count how many times I've read it, and it always puts me in a good mood. Berry Knudsen is trying to get her life back on track. She has a plan: finish school, work at her pizza place, get married, etc. But life gets in the way in the form of three really adorable old ladies and Jake Sawyer, who meets Berry and has a plan of his own. I really love Evanovich's early romance series - they're light, funny and full of great characters who have 'pip'.

This is the last of Janet Evanovich's romance novels from back when she first started writing. I do like them even though I'm not generally a fan of romance novels. This stuff doesn't happen in real life, but I do find them amusing.I also like Janet Evanovich's quote:"Romance novels are birthday cake and life is peanut butter and jelly...everyone should have lots of delicious romance novels lying around for those times when the peanut butter of life gets stuck to the roof of your mouth." - 1988

I was in the mood for a rainbows, gumdrops and unicorns type of romance book to read over the weekend and this book fit the bill. Nice and lighthearted which is what I needed to escape reality. Great read and likeable characters.

In a short amount of time, Berry Knudsen was able to see a half naked man, which caused her to fall out of a tree, land on a large pizza, then she had to watch her own Jeep fly off a cliff, see two different cars get stolen and watch her apartment burn to ash. The next week she was living with Jake Sawyer in his unfurnished Victorian style home with three old ladies, all while she was still trying to run her pizza place, and go back to school. Luckily Jake was a 1st grade teacher and had the patience to wait, and the determination to win her over - maybe.Another great example of Janet Evanovich's earlier work, it is light hearted and fun and the characters are written in a way that allows a connection (at least for me it does). Absolutely great way to start a book, (in a tree going after a cat and seeing a man undressing in the window)and the addition of the old ladies and there personalities gave a great mix to the story.

** spoiler alert ** Oh my goodness! I did not want to put this book down. Not only is this book an easy read, it is fun and light hearted. It was a cute, simple, funny little love story. This story had me smiling or laughing almost the whole book. Berry is a simple girl with goals set in life. She owns a pizza parlor, is going to school to finish her degree and after that is when she plans to look for love. Life had a much different plan for her. Enter Jake, a study specimen of a man who instantly falls in love with Berry in all her clumsy cuteness and even more with her stubbornness. While dealing with a string of bad luck, Berry tries to deny her extremely obvious attraction to Jake. While he never stops persuing her, his tenacity would make any woman swoon. Eventually, Berry gives in to her feelings and they will have an amazing life together.... Well if they improve their communication that is. If you enjoy comedy, romance, stubbornness, and want a fun read, this book is the book for you.

Quick and easy read. It was also clean. I hated the character's name though - Berry. I struggle to believe at the beginning of the story that the man came home to a house that is the only house for a quarter of a mile and didn't notice a car delivering his pizza to him. So he goes upstairs and gets undressed and she can see him through the window in the dark. Also, if he is a first grade teacher because he spent all of his money from a scientific find on the house and expensive car, how is he affording more fancy cars, cruises for the one lady and such? Also, when he starts helping in the pizza shop, I wondered about his teaching job. Other than those glitches for me, it was a cute book.

I needed something light and easy and funny, and Janet Evanovich can always be depended upon for that! A good way to start off a new year. :-)Berry Knudsen is busy running her pizza delivery business while she takes college classes. On a nightime delivery, she climbs a tree to rescue a kitten and sees a gorgeous guy undressing - then falls splat on the pizza she is about to deliver to him. He is interested and she is interested but has life goals that need to be achieved first. Jake is a kindergarten teacher who has earned good money on an invention. Meanwhile, Berry rescues 3 elderly ladies and takes them in to help with making pizzas. What will the future hold?

A very cute and entertaining read. Though a little bit sappy, I loved everything about this book from the characters, the plot and the dialog. You couldn't help but root for Berry and Jake. This is the type of book you read when you need to clear your reading pallet from more serious dramatic fiction. Something light that puts a smile on your face till the end and leaves you refreshed and in the best of moods.

Very enjoyable book. Although the character does not want help, or a man, she ends up getting the man of her dreams. Too bad she acts like he's a nightmare, not mention she can't stop causing a disturbance in his life. He doesn't care though, he is going to win her over whether she likes it or not. Great and quick read.

Kooky!I Really loved the kooky nature of this story! It's a kooky step up from Stephanie Plum! Though Steph will always be my favorite! Looking, impatiently, forward to more of her story! I've read everything MS Evanovich has written and have never been disappointed! Absolutely love her sense of comedy!

While this didn't have Lulu or Stephanie it did have a cast of characters to keep anyone entertained. The main character was delightful in her generosity if a bit wishy washy in other areas. The patience of her would be boyfriend was amazing!!

A good looking substitute 1st grade teacher (who's also an inventor), the little older ladies who were living in the bus station, and a pizza shop owner/college student come together to create a funny, yet sweet love story. Gonna try some other JE early romances.
