The Wrong Highlander Audiobook Summary

A laird’s daughter kidnaps a Highlander–and loses her heart… in New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’ new historical romance.

Lady Evina Maclean has heard much about Rory Buchanan’s skill as a healer. What she hasn’t heard is how good the brawny Highlander looks bathing in a waterfall. But Evina can’t afford the distraction, for her ailing father urgently needs care. Only when she’s rendered Buchanan unconscious and dragged him back to her family’s castle does the truth emerge–it’s not Rory she’s kidnapped but his brother Conran.

Other ladies try to ensnare Conran with flattery. Evina hits him over the head with the hilt of her sword to save her kin–and Conran likes the spirited redhead all the more for it. He’s learned enough from his brother to heal Evina’s father, but there are other dangers swirling around the Maclean clan. And while the beautiful, independent lady has sworn not to marry, this wrong Highlander may be just the right man for her.

****4.5 Stars!!!!****I absolutely love this series by Lyndsay Sands! If you have ever read one of her books then you know how she integrates humour into her romances! I love knowing that I am going to have many laughs while enjoying the situations the main characters get themselves into! Not only are there a ton of chuckles, there are plenty of blazing hot moments as well! Seeing as our hero is a sexy Highlander in a kilt... you can’t go wrong with this historical romance! This instalment has Conran who is the fourth son in the Buchanan family. I have loved following these brothers throughout this series and each story includes a ton of interaction with the current main characters and the older ones too! You could read each book as a stand-alone but I wouldn’t recommend it. It is so much more rewarding to have the whole family history and knowledge of all the brothers and their wives! If you enjoy Scottish Historical romances then I highly recommend this series! It is up there as one of my all time top faves!!! I can’t wait until the next book comes out... I’m thinking I have awhile to wait; but with this series I could reread it many times and still enjoy it like it is the first time!

Audio version: 8/28/22Re-read: 4/5/20214 stars!! 😍 Loved it! This was so much better than the previous 2 books in this series. Evina and Conran had amazing chemistry and although the story had the usual ups and downs of a Lynsay Sands book, things were not that obvious and the villain was a surprise. It was also nice to note that the h was not a pushover and the H had to put in some serious time and effort to woo her. Highly recommended 👍. Can't wait to read what's next in this series.. 😁

Mistaken for his healing brother, Rory, Conran is "kidnapped" by Lady Evina to help heal her father who has taken to his sick bed. Conran has picked up quite a bit about healing from his brother Rory so when tasked with healing Evina's father, he steps up to the plate. But he is unsure of Evina's intention and doesn't let anyone know they have the wrong man...until his family shows up and he finds himself betrothed to Evina.Someone also tries to kill Evina and with the Buchanan's all showing up, they have plenty of people ready to help solve the mystery.Fun, flirty and a the quirky Buchanan cast, The Wrong Highlander is the right novel for the historical romance fan.I received this ARC copy of The Wrong Highlander from Avon. I've come to the conclusion that Lynsay Sands could write the phone book and I would probably read it and enjoy it. I love how she diversifies herself between historical and paranormal. I love how her words flow off the pages, how she can take perilous situations and make them fun and exciting. She writes strong woman, handsome men and interesting stories that make it easy to turn the pages.I loved being back with the Buchanan's. Lady Evina and Conran were wonderful together. They were a true comedy of errors right from the beginning. You couldn't help but smile and laugh throughout this story of mistaken identity. And, she brought all the Buchanan's together again and I absolutely love when I am able to visit with past characters that I fell in love with. It was fun watching Lady Evina being the strong, capable woman of the Maclean Clan to going soft in the arms of Conran. You knew that it would get really interesting when everyone found out that she kidnapped the wrong Buchanan and, it did. But, not for long. It was even more interesting watching Conran trying to woo and win his woman back.I do love reading Lynsay Sands. She never lets me down. She knows how to keep a story interesting and moving along and knows just how to write those twists and turns that keep you wondering. She writes beautiful love scenes between two people who truly belong together. So, all-in-all, she knows how to write wonderful stories and I am sure that I will just keep reading her and not be disappointed in the story.

I really enjoyed this one. It has family, betrayal, romance and suspense.Lady Evina was afraid her father was dying so she set off to bring the renowned healer Rory Buchanan to tend to her father. But in her haste, they kidnapped the wrong brother, Conran and brought him to their keep.Conran knew enough of Rory’s herbs and routines to heal the MacLean Laird. Conran also formed an attachment to Evina but she did not want to marry him or anyone else. She didn’t want to be under a man’s command. So it was up to Conran to show her that she could still be herself and be his wife.So began the lesson in seduction!I liked both Evina and Conran. They are loyal, self-sacrificing and kind. It was delightful taking the journey with them because they had chemistry in spades. I also enjoyed the meddling MacLean Laird. I could totally see what he was doing so I’m shocked none of them figured it out. Both families together was the best part of the story. I have to go back and read the ones I skipped

I have had so much fun with this family here and I each book is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Now I admit, first off, the cover here that Avon did is wonderful and so sexy, I love a naked man under a waterfall. But honestly, there is something so endearing about this series and you are always guaranteed a page-turner and a charming love story whenever you pick up Lynsay Sands. The Wrong Highlander is a story that begins with Conran Buchanan, who has been assisting his brother Ronan with gathering herbs for his healing potions. Conran is the brother that is a “jack of all trades” and is always there with a helping hand. But now Conran has found himself in a heap of trouble. While cleaning himself in the river, he gets attacked and kidnapped and assumed to be his brother Ronan and demanding he help with their Laird being sick. But even though the circumstances aren’t the best, Conran can’t resist helping someone in need despite how it came about. Lady Evina refuses to let her father die of sickness and doesn’t feel that she has a choice and kidnaps Conran (she assumes him to be the infamous Ronan) and demands he heals her father. She will do anything for her father, even reduce herself to becoming a kidnapper. Evina refuses to marry, ever. But there are sparks that fly between herself and Conran and she can’t deny the feelings she is learning to have for him. But there is a plan to kill Evina, and when Conran’s family come to get him, they search for the unknown killer.I found the Wrong Highlander to be quite an entertaining read for sure. There was something about this book though, that really appealed to me in such a unique way. First off, this book is a page turner, you won’t be able to put this book down. This is what I love about Lynsay Sands, her books are so engaging. In this book, I was really intrigued with the set up of the story, I do love a fun kidnapping story and Sands did a great job with this. I love how Conran doesn’t let what Evina does to him to prevent from healing her sick father, and he doesn’t resent her for it. He is so understanding and patient with her especially her fears of sex and marriage. She does have some good reasons for both and we see how Conran is steady like a rock and never loses hope on her. There is such growth in the intimacy that forms between these two here. They have some powerful sexual sparks of course, and yeah once they start kissing, they have a hard time stopping from touching each other and are just explosive. What I did like was that Sands shows how uncomfortable the first time for a woman can be and how Conran helps Evina deal with her fears of sex since their first time is pretty painful for her. But he is great in showing her how pleasure can be found despite the fears and misconceptions you may have beforehand. We also have a level of suspense and intrigue introduced into the story and I really love how Sands has situated this aspect in this story and like the previous books, it’s wonderfully delightful to see it happen for sure. And it was quite fascinating to see this develop because when it begins, you don’t see it coming and boy this author had me on the edge trying to figure out why Evina and Conran were being targeted and who the real culprit was and yeah it blew me away. No matter how much you keep guessing you will never be able to figure it out….I guarantee it. Or if you do, you are my superhero, but seriously, I love how you never knew what was going to happen next especially in the last half of the story.Overall I found The Wrong Highlander to be a tale of laughs, medieval adventures and some sexy kilted lovin’!! A ROMANCE TO DEVOUR!

Reviewed by Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....I'm not sure if any of you have read a book by Lynsay Sands but if you haven't you are truly missing something. I just love her books. You can always count of a few things when reading one of her books, they will be well written, you'll her characters and they are always funny. She has a natural humor that draws you into the story. Humor helps balance out things even during the worst of times. I just love her characters and I have to say that this series, the Highland Brides have some of my favorite. I love how these brothers are with each other. They are totally in for each other. It really makes the story richer. You can feel the different layer of loyalty and love they share for each other. This time we have Conran who gets kidnapped, sorta, instead of Rory. This would be horrible if it hadn't turned out to be so funny. Plus, it's hard to be kidnapped when you can leave at anytime. I also enjoyed Evina and her family. As the book progresses you really learn more and more about her and realize what a very special person she is. I was glad she for Conran instead of Rory because she really needed someone like him who can love so deep. I think you'll really enjoy Evina and Conran's story. Besides the romance of it you of course get the mystery to go with it. I loved how the brothers and friends pointed out how it seemed that each of them found woman to fall in love with that had someone who wanted to kill them. If you read the series you think that, not that it's a game changer for reading the series, but you never think about what the author thinks, until this book. Pointing out makes they series as a whole work even better. Drawing attention to and being shocked about the attempted killings gives you common ground with the characters. A fun series that you all should try! Follow me on:https://www.facebook.com/RomancingThe...https://twitter.com/RomancingreaderARC received for a honest review

A very botched attempt to gain the services of renowned healer Rory Buchanon leads Evina MacLean to kidnap his brother, Conran Buchanon, mistaking him for Rory. After two separate blows to the head leave him naked and unconscious for the day and a half ride to Evina's home, Conran is unceremoniously roused and assumed to be Rory, at which point Evina begs him to health her dying father. Seeing how ill her father is, Conran decides to use the knowledge he has gained from helping his brother to aid Evina's father, since there is now no time to wait for Rory's arrival even if they sent for him, so Conran remains without revealing his true identity. When his brother's begin to descend on MacLean, it becomes apparent that Conran is not in fact Rory, but when someone attempts to kill Evina, it is Conran whose protective instincts are awakened and he begins to wonder if he might care for Evina. The wrong highlander may just be the perfect man for Evina and her clan.I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. The Book Junkie Reads . . .

January 29, 2019

Come with me and find the delight that happens to be within the pages of this highland romance. We get to revisit the highlands on a new adventure with a familiar family, friends, and even a new friend or two. Conran maybe a highlander but he's the wrong highlander. Lady Evina Maclean had other plans. Rory was her target but she got herself Conran. That was not a bad thing at all. Lynsay Sands has returned us to the Highland Bride series that have captivated many of out hearts with a family that loves hard, deep, and forever. The characters are rich, dedicated, passionate, strong, determined. The story takes the reader on another highland adventure.

ARC REVIEW Highland Brides #7, Lynsay Sands is a great author in whatever she writes and her books are fun to read; at one point the Buchanan brothers were standing around joking that the same stuff keeps happening to them that it's always money or madness that goes after them. Her women are strong willed and in this case with Evina MacLean, who has lead the family and the clan ever since her mother died and her father distanced himself from everything and even trains the younger soldiers, she's more than just emotionally strong. She's not afraid to take charge and get what needs to be done done. So when her father falls ill and nothing is working she seeks out the healer Rory Buchanan.Conran Buchanan is the middle child and he has always been there for his brothers and sister when they need him, he is a jack of all trade but master of none. After a long day of collecting herbs for Rory one day he takes the time to wash away the day in a nearby waterfall when he's attacked and knocked unconscious. When he wakes up he's still naked and on MacLean land they are also calling him Rory, to save his brother from the same fate he plays along good thing he knows just enough to help the Laird MacLean.Maclean as soon as he's better manipulates a situation in which Conran is caught compromising Evi. Sadly, Evi is shot with an arrow and his plan doesn't go as smoothly as he wanted. Conran's brother show up and the truth comes out and while everyone around is pushing for their marriage Conran is willing to go through the wedding because he genuinely like Evi he'll only go through it if that's what she wants too. So he has a couple of weeks before all his brothers arrive to woo Evi. Unfortunately the arrow to Evi's chest isn't the only attempt on her life and the Buchanans go on high alert to protect Evi and try and capture the culprit.Overall, this was a fun and exciting read from a master at her trade. Her historicals and her paranormals always exceed my expectations. The characters are all loveable and easy to sympathize with. She creates situations that are humorous and intense with a great narrative and a picturesque setting.

The Highland Brides is one of my favorite historical romance series, and I always get excited when a new one is coming out. The Buchanan brood is so fun and boisterous, with sassy and relatable women that find themselves in dangerous situations more often than not. The Wrong Highlander is no exception, and follows the same light-hearted suspense format of the previous books. Our hero in this latest installment is Lady Evina Maclean, a braies-wearing, sword-wielding lass from the Highlands. She reminded me quite a bit of Saidh Buchanan, from The Highlander Takes a Bride. Evina has been running Maclean keep since the death of her mother at age 10, and she's the type of person that does what needs to be done without complaint or dallying. So when her ailing father desperately needs a healer, she sets off to steal one - the renowned Rory Buchanan. I enjoyed Evina's character. She wasn't overly obstinate and, while she was capable of handling most matters herself, she didn't balk at accepting help when it was offered and needed. She also injected some humor into the story with innocent quips and one-liners, and the way she kidnapped Conran "just a little bit."Despite our heroine's intentions, our hero of this story is actually Conran Buchanan, who is kidnapped from his bathing due to a case of mistaken identity. I didn't remember much about Conran from previous books, but he is the one who is always helping his brothers with some aught, but has never really stood out as being an expert in one field. Conrad considers himself slightly knowledgeable about a great many things, but master of none. It's here that our hero sells himself short, because he is a smart and capable lad, and his varied knowledge makes him the perfect match for our heroine and her family situation. I liked Conrad quite a bit as well. I liked that he was humble and didn't quite realize his own appeal, but that he was also a bit of an alpha when it came to protecting and satisfying his lady. Of course this book wouldn't fit in with the series if there wasn't danger swirling around our heroine. I liked the suspense plot and thought it was well planned and executed. Surprisingly, I didn't guess the villain's identity in this one until he was just about revealed. I really like how Lynsay gives us the suspense and danger to advance the plot, but she doesn't make it the whole focus of the story. Adding in the romance and humor with the light suspense makes it so much more entertaining, and an immensely enjoyable read. I'm sad that we are running out of members of the Buchanan family to read about... but I'm hoping that we will get a series about the next generation - particularly Saidh and Greer's growing brood!I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Avon.
