Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe Audiobook Summary

Fancy Nancy is back in New York Times bestselling team Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser’s picture book Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe, about the love little girls feel for their favorite dolls–and their favorite sisters!

Fancy Nancy’s sister, JoJo, can really be a pest sometimes . . . like when she put Easter-egg dye in the kiddie pool and dunked Frenchy in it! But this time she’s done something really bad, and Nancy is livid–that’s fancy for tres angry and upset. JoJo drew a tattoo on Nancy’s precious doll, Marabelle Lavinia Chandelier! Even worse, it’s in permanent marker. That means it will never come out! When Mom suggests a fancy doll party to make Nancy feel better, Nancy is excited to accept. But what if the doll drama isn’t over?

Fans of Fancy Nancy and fancy parties alike will delight in this story of how younger siblings can get on your nerves sometimes, but it always works out in the end. As always, the central theme of all the Fancy Nancy books shines through, showing how Nancy empowers girls with knowledge through her fascination with do-it-yourself fun!

Okay so this one was HILARIOUS! Nancy gets mad at JoJo because she vandalizes her fancy doll and she doesn't want anyone to find out. It speaks well to children who have sibling and how to deal with those siblings when they do things we don't necessarily like. The artwork is beautiful as always, but

[As a first-grader] I like to learn the fancy words Fancy Nancy used (e.g., sibling for sisters or brothers; despicable for super bad; indelible for permanent or never come off), and the pictures were beautiful. Unlike Fanny’s mom who refused to buy her a popular Connie doll (see “Fanny” by Holly Hobbie), Fancy Nancy’s mom not only bought her Marabelle, a doll that Nancy adores, but also took her to a history doll gala to meet other girls and their favorite dolls. This was to help make Fancy Nancy feel better after her little sister, JoJo, had drawn a pirate tattoo on the belly of Marabelle using permanent marker. There were many girls at the event with their dolls and most of the dolls wore the same dress as Marabelle. Fancy Nancy had such a great time at the event, but she only selected activities such as the doll carousel, photo booth, and tea party in order to hide the pirate tattoo from others. However, Marabelle got mixed up with another doll. The two girls finally reunited with their favorite dolls, thanks to what their siblings had done. The other girl’s brother cut her doll’s hair and poked out one of the doll’s eyes. Well, that sounds a lot worse than JoJo’s pirate tattoo on Marabelle’s belly! Having brothers or sisters can be rough at times, but everything has two sides, just like Marabelle’s permanent tattoo helped her reunite with Fancy Nancy at the gala. I’m glad my mom is more like Fancy Nancy’s mom. She lets me get things I want and takes me to all kinds of shows and events. Well, I need to work hard and earn them of course. I love my dolls and it’s good to be fancy![As the parent helping my first-grader read and write] Reading books with my child, especially identifying with the parental characters depicted, is such a beneficial and enjoyable process for me, as I learn to reflect on my role. For example, Fanny had to make her own doll as her mom refused to buy her commercially-made glamorous doll, because according to her mom, “they’re just too...much”. Fancy Nancy seems to live on the other extreme of the spectrum. I have to admit I am leaning more toward Fancy Nancy’s parents, but I try to expose my child to all kinds of toys, activities, and lifestyles. Under the family prize rules we’ve all agreed on, my child needs to work hard to earn and then spend prizes, and I do get to make suggestions. So far, it has worked out fine. We sometimes have Fanny, sometimes have Fancy Nancy, and sometimes have wild characters residing in our household lol. For the book itself, it’s nicely illustrated and presented in fancy fonts and vivid pictures. The story focused on siblings, but I guess we could all learn to be optimistic and patient, hopefully the other side of misfortune will present itself sooner or later.

Nancy is upset when her little sister JoJo gives her beloved doll, Marabelle, a tattoo on her belly using a black permanent marker. To cheer her up, Nancy's mom suggests they attend a doll gala. The idea works and at the event Nancy ends up misplacing her doll and relying on the secret tattoo to find her. She connects with another young girl who's younger sibling has tortured her doll and Nancy decides that there's far worse things that could've happended to Marabelle.A great story jam-packed with vocabulary on nearly every page! This story was full of extra fancy details due to the event Nancy and her mom attend. The gala reminds me of the American Girl events for girls and their dolls. Recommended for girls PreK-3.

Oh to the glitter! Nancy is always fun and full of vocabulary, but this one contains even more. Nancy deals with antics of her little sister Jo-jo and enters an adventure of strangers and dolls which is more than she bargained for. She goes onto learn about other family dynamics and other siblings' antics and discovers hidden blessings in her own Jo-jo. As always, I love the illustrations and the sibling message in this one is perfect for families! Thanks to HC.

Fancy Nancy is always a delight, but this time the pretty fluff comes with a little more depth as the topic of sibling rivalry is addressed.

I like how this book focuses on sibling relationships, and teaches forgiveness and love in an understated, yet effective way. It's a hit with my four-year-old daughter.

One of the best Fancy Nancy books! Fancy Nancy is initially devastated after her little sister Jojo plays with her doll, Marabelle, and decides never to talk to Jojo ever again. Things change when she goes to a doll convention, and discovers just how special Marabelle and Jojo really are. A heartwarming story about getting over when things don't go your way, forgiving others and learning to appreciate the beauty in all things and situations.

This was a cute read, about the age I was looking for too.The story of two sisters and how they can see the love and hate in each other, and the love of a little girl and her favourite doll.A pretty good read for a child, and the moral was a great addition.
