Immortal Unchained Audiobook Summary

In a spellbinding new Argeneau novel from New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands, a dangerous rescue is just the beginning of red-hot adventure…

Ever since Domitian Argenis recognized Sarita as his life mate, he’s been waiting for the perfect moment to claim her. Those fantasies did not include him being chained to a table in a secret lab or both of them being held hostage by a mad scientist. Somehow, they have to escape…

Sarita has seen some crazy things as a cop, but nothing to rival Domitian. A vampire? Seriously? But his healing ability, incredible powers, and their mind-blowing physical connection–none of it should be possible, yet her body knows differently. Now, not only do they have to save each other, but other innocent lives are at stake. Failure is not an option, for Sarita intends that Domitian show her exactly what an eternity of pleasure feels like…

After 25 books in the same series, you'd think Sands would run out of story lines but she is still going strong. She hasn't lost her touch. I like her consistency in key elements that span throughout the line. The details matter. In this story, Domitian and Sarita bring sexy back with an almost combustible desire for one another. They are kidnapped and dropped on an island alone together. What are life mates to do? Of course there is a big plot to go along with it but I needed to take a moment to give Sands some kudos. They were muy caliente together. The plot was interesting and connected with others in the series seamlessly. It opened up some interesting possibilities for potential future couples. Our main couple followed a pretty standard mold for this series but I was still entertained.Safety: No others for Domitian after meeting the h but she was very young (13) so he stepped back to let her grow up and "live". Living did include her sleeping with other men but she didn't have an awareness of the H or of the concept of life mates. No rape.

4.5 StarsAs the kidnappings continue and more and more Immortals go missing, Lucien has no choice but to let a non-hunter go into the lion’s den to try to help uncover exactly what is going on. Domitian will stop at nothing to find his life mate, including being kidnapped himself. He has no idea what is waiting for him on the island but needs to get to Sarita.Sarita is appalled at the story Dr. Dressler told her after she inadvertently helped put a man back together again. But, waking up in paradise with no clothes except for bikini’s and negligees, with a note directing her to the basement, she has to wonder how much of what he told her was true. Of course, if it is, she’s one pissed-off woman and the man chained to the table in the basemen is going to hear about it.Domitian knows that Sarita is a strong-willed woman. He had no idea just how stubborn she really is. There is no way that she is accepting the idea of shared pleasure, of Immortals, of taking orders from anyone. He soon finds out that she is her own woman and will do what she thinks is best, no matter the outcome. He has his hands full but couldn’t be happier … even being held prisoner by a mad doctor who has cameras positioned all over and has gotten one hell of an eyeful of his Sarita. He has some ideas and it’s time to get her on board and get off of the island. With a little bit of help from two little old ladies and a hybrid eagle (yea, Dr. Dressler is a wee bit deranged) they get the job done. But, not without a few mishaps.I can always count on Lynsay Sands to bring a little joy into my sometimes-monotonous life. It amazes me how she can keep the Argeneau family saga going, how each story is new and different, how she doesn’t repeat a storyline. I can always count on her to keep the story fresh and new. She has a way to blend the perfect balance between intrigue, love, humor and some smoking hot sex. But, this is actually one of the first books that I was a bit of a problem with. I just couldn’t relate to Sarita. She just came off as way over-the-top at times and kind of had me cringing. I also missed the back-and-forth between all my favorite Immortals. Except for the beginning and the end of the story, there wasn’t any interaction with the Argeneau family and I love that soooo much in her books. Other than that, I was happy with the way the story played out, with the flawless writing of Lynsay Sands. I’ll never tire of reading about the Argeneau’s and I always look forward to whatever she releases … from her Paranormal Romance to her Medieval Romance to her Highlander Romance, I am always thrilled when she releases a new book and can’t wait to get my hands on it.Review copy provided for a voluntary review.

Sands is back with the 25th installment of the Argeneau series and it's still going strong with Immortal Unchained.Domitian is an ancient vampire that found his life mate when she was still a young human. Instead of claiming her, he decided to give her some time to grow up and live. But did he wait too long? You might think that, when he finds himself chained and in the hands of the mad scientist they’ve (the Argeneaus) been battling for years. To top it off, Sarita is pulled into the labs by nefarious means and is at risk as well. I do have to say, Sarita is a much bigger person than I, faced with Domitian’s world…and the lab. Being a cop might help her cope with the strange but seriously how much can one person be expected to accept.Stuck on an isolated island off Venezuela, Sarita and Domitian soon discover the experiments have gone much deeper than anyone had imagined. Putting the fiery, Sarita and Domitian together was pure genius on Sands part. It's like the perfect sweet, Domitian, and spicy, Sarita sauce. If you are a paranormal romance fan then Immortal Unchained shouldn’t be missed. You can't help but connect with the action, steaming hot romance, a dash of darkness... It is entertainment reading at its best.I received this ARC copy of Immortal Unchained from Avon in exchange for a honest review. I received this ARC copy of Immortal Unchained from Avon in exchange for a honest review. I really enjoyed this love story, but I did find a couple of plot holes that are kind of bothering me. Lynsay always writes funny elements into her story and those were great. This book has a little darker plot as we are still in the Dressler arc. I would certainly recommend this book to all of Sands' fans.

After 25 books, the series takes a new turn in this installment, with a theme initiated in the latest novels, (the mad evil scientist). This one has an unambiguous (view spoiler)["Island of Doctor Moreau" (hide spoiler)]flavor. We finally meet the new villain in the flesh, and the plot shows lots of fresh possibilities for the future. It could mean a spin-off series, and/or another evolution for future Argeneau novels, we'll see...Nice that after all this time, Lynsay Sands still manages to keep her readers enticed ;)

Review also on my blog: http://nextbookaroundthecorner.blogsp...Since I accidentally stumbled across the 7th book of the Argenau series of Lynsay Sands (The Accidental Vampire, what's in a name...), I was sincerely spoiled. Ever since, all vampire books I read are measured against the Argenaus... So when I saw Immortal Unchained (# 25 in the series) on Netgalley, I just had to request it. And yay, I received the ARC. I was a little hesitant, because after more than 20 books on the Argenau family, the action seemed to be getting a little less in the books 21 and 22. The yummie Notte twins (Dante and Tomasso) fortunately had more action in books 23 and 24. And in this book, Lynsay picks up the pace. We had already seen, that there were some immortals disappearing in those books. And although Lucian (my absolute favourite Argenau) was trying to find them, he was not able to. Enter Domitian. We start the book with Lucian growling (when is he not growling...) into Domitian's earpeace, not to go on board of the helicopter. But of course, Domitian gets on the helicopter... and ends up chained to a table in a secret lab.Fortunately, Domitian is untied by Sarita, his life mate. If you haven't read any of Lynsay's books: she is THE ONE for him. But since she is a 'normal' mortal woman, she knows nothing of vampires (excuse me: immortals). However, she gets a crash course in vampires by Dr. Dressler, a mad scientist doing gruesome experiments on them. Of course there is this undeniable attraction between Sarita and Domitian, which will lead to some hilarious and also steaming scenes. But, as a true Argenau story, there is a lot of action, some unexpected turns and some very intriguing characters. For instance, we meet Thorne, the son of Dr. Dressler and Asherah, the assistant of Dr. Dressler. Right untill the end, you don't know who will be part of the good guys or part of the bad guys. With the exception of Dr. Dressler of course, who is just pure evil.Furthermore, we re-unite with some of the characters of the earlier books, like Victor (my first Argenau encounter), Nicholas and Jo (The Renegade Hunter, #12), Decker and Dani (The Immortal Hunter #11), Lucern (Single White Vampire #3), Eshe (Borne to Bite, #13) and Mirabeau (Bitten by Cupid, #12,5). And of course Lucian (Bite me if you can, #6).So of course, five out of five stars from me! And looking forward to book 26! Keep up the good work, Lynsay.

Long time readers of the Argeneau series have been waiting for this book for awhile. Sands has been building us up to this Island of Dr. Moreau reminiscent story for the last few books now (Immortal Nights, Runaway Vampire) and Immortal Unchained does not disappoint. Dr. Dressler is every bit the mad scientist whacko we figured he'd be, and then some! On the one hand he readily admits that immortals are pretty much people just like anyone else, with families and lives and loved ones. On the other, he has no problem kidnapping all the immortals he can get his hands on and experimenting on them. Is he trying to learn how to recreate the original Atlantean nanobot technology? Does he want to become immortal himself? Is he just a sick mad scientist who likes torturing people in as many ways as possible? Does it have to be just one of those? (hint: no, it doesn't. Remember, he's a psycho)Fortunately, the mad doctor doesn't get too much "onscreen" time. He has set up a remote location as a "romantic getaway" for Sarita and Domitian and they know whatever experiment he's set up, they want no part of it. It was a lot of fun getting to know Sarita and Domitian and watching them get to know each other while they work on escaping. Domitian is a great guy who blends complete sincerity with some very smooth lines. How can you not fall for a man who learned to cook so he could woo his life mate with amazing food (though he didn't eat at the time) and quotes The Princess Bride? Likewise Sarita is a modern, independent, practical woman who became a cop so she could make a difference and help people. She has no intention of sitting around and waiting for someone to save her when she can do it herself. She takes most of the craziness of the island in stride- it's hard to say vampires don't exist when the proof is right there. There is a great scene where they are getting to know each other and Sarita asks about Domitian's past. She's able to handle the whole "vampire thing" but when it sinks in exactly how old he is she goes straight for the open bottle of wine!Sands does an excellent balancing act with the tone for Immortal Unchained. Obviously with the threat of a mad scientist, Unchained couldn't have the entirely light, often madcap, humor of some of the other Argeneau books. However, that humor-in-the-face-of-all-odds is also a trademark of any Lynsay Sands book and couldn't be left out here. I thought Unchained was perfectly balanced between the two. There's a scene in the beginning where our fears of the doctor are confirmed and Sarita realizes what she's walked into that the overly squeamish may want to skim over. Very quickly the complete threat the doctor represents is realized, without going into (too) gory details. No similar scene needed to be written for the entire rest of the book, it haunts us the way it haunts Sarita, threatening the worst while still reminding us that immortals are pretty hard to kill. We feel the urgency Sarita and Domitian feel to rescue everyone without continually being reminded through additional sessions with the doctor and Sands was smart to leave it that way. It's no spoiler to say that we get the expected happy ending while at the same time getting a to-be-continued threat of more trouble to come. Readers new to Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series will need the first chapter to catch up, but should then enjoy it as much as the rest of us (plus have the additional fun of being able to read the rest of the series for the first time before the next book comes out in September!). Long time fans get to enjoy cameos by a few Argeneaus and Rogue Hunters we already know and love, while now adding Domitian and Sarita to the extended family tree. A great new addition to the Argeneau series, Immortal Unchained lives up to high expectations while opening some new doors for potential future stories. A must read for paranormal romance fans and Lynsay Sands fans! For my full review, go to:http://bookwyrmreader.blogspot.com/20...

I *really* liked this book. It was new and not new at the same time. I really liked how the newer characters were linked to the older ones. This arc is pretty good, a different sort of scary than the previous one with Leoniadas (probably spelled that wrong!) I'm not sure what to think about the products of the mad scientist and how they will be used in later books. I know I wasn't really expecting that to say the least. When I heard Domitian's name I kinda drew a blank as to who he was until he mentioned his sister then I had a light bulb moment ... remembered that Drina didn't paint the best picture of her brother in her book so I hadn't really liked him then. But, I did like him in this book so it made up for it. Who ever really paints the nicest picture of a sibling usually anyway? I loved how thoughtful, caring, and understanding he was. Everything about him just worked for me and I enjoyed the book lots.Sarita was an interesting character. She didn't irritate me and her reactions weren't over the top, like some previous Sans heroines when introduced to immortals for the first time. I like how the history of immortals was mostly told through the doctor's explanations. It gave them a different sort of air so they didn't seem like a rote recitation from an immortal to a mortal. The one thing that sort of bugged me was the bit about their clothes. I get that their wardrobe was severely limited. I also see, later, that there was a sewing kit and lots of towels and some sheets. There were even knives … why didn’t she come up with a more practical wardrobe sooner? I know I would’ve been cutting up some sheets … not worrying about hanging them up to hide the bed. That or I would be layering things to cover up or make things less transparent to say the least. I get that that wouldn’t totally fit into the whole setup for a romance novel, but I’m a practical being so I can’t help it. Also, when they were escaping, swimming in the ocean, she was wearing a thong … got out of the water … sat in the sand, and drew up her legs. I don’t think I’m the only one who thought of sand going where it shouldn’t be, right?Anyway, I liked this book and look forward to the next one. The character is sort of a new introduction. Meeting him made me ponder re-reading Sans historicals set in the highlands again.

Originally posted at Vampire Book ClubThe Immortal population has been dealing with mysterious disappearances of their people for quite a while now. With the escape of the Notte twins Tomasso and Dante (from Runaway Vampire and Immortal Nights) we learned that a man by the name of Dressler is the one behind the abductions. Now, Lucian Argeneau has to figure out a way to infiltrate Dressler’s stronghold located on an island off Venezuela. That’s where Domitian Argenis comes in. Domitian, a skilled and well-known chef, has been propositioned by Dressler many times over that past few months to come be his personal chef on his island. Lucian recognizes this proposition for what it is: a trap. But when Dressler also lures Domitian’s lifemate Sarita to the island, there is nothing that will stop him from going, regardless that he’s not a Hunter. When Sarita receives a message stating that her grandmother has been injured, and is in need of care, Sarita leaves her life in Canada as a police officer and heads immediately to Venezuela. Instead of finding her grandmother, however, she’s waylaid by the mad Dressler and unwittingly pulled into his plans, whatever those plans may be. Now, she must work with the mysterious and delicious Domitian if they have any hope of escape.Immortal Unchained marks a milestone in the series for Lynsay Sands in that it’s the 25th book! That’s impressive by any standards. I found that I overall enjoyed Immortal Unchained. There’s this undertone of The Island of Doctor Moreau running through it. And if you are at all familiar with this story, you will immediately understand the type of experiments Dressler has been conducting on his island, to a point.I was a little thrown off in the beginning—with Domitian having already declared that Sarita is his lifemate and why exactly Sarita was on the island to begin with—I felt like I missed something somewhere. But I liked the way Lynsay Sands builds up the specifics of the opening details in the way Domitian and Sarita get to know one another. They’re ‘getting to know you’ is a little unconventional in that they are definitely not meeting up for a coffee date. No, they end up being kept captive on a smaller more secluded island with little to no clothing between them, and that sets the tone for much sexytimes to ensue. But I liked that beyond the instant attraction they have towards one another, they actually take the time to talk and learn about one another. Domitian has lived a loooong life, and he has a very interesting history. And just because Sarita is a mere human, she’s still had many obstacles that have made her into the woman she is today. Also, everything we learn about Domitian and Sarita only lends itself to their strength and resilience to get off the island and save the people they care most about.Immortal Unchained hit the mark for me more than the previous two books in the series. The big plus being, we get a lot more in regards to the missing Immortals story arc. But to that end, I will say things aren’t exactly tied up with a nice bow at the end, and it makes me very interested to see where the next book picks up.

Pretty good. Sarita was alerted of that her grandmother had fallen and was in need of support. Immediately she travels to Venezuela to help. The problem is as soon as she arrives her grandma is nowhere to be seen, and Dr. Dressler, her grandmas employer, is very suspicious. Domitian Argenis has known Sarita was his life mate since a young age, and had kept a watchful eye on her. But Domitian is distracted by other problems within the immortal community, namely the many kidnappings. However when Domitian is recruited to help infiltrate the kidnappers he gets himself kidnapped. Sarita quickly realizes Dr. Dressler is actually a mad scientist after witnessing one of his “experiments” on an immortal vampire and finds herself kidnapped as well. As it turns out Dressler has bigger plans for Domitian and Sarita. When Sarita wakes up she thinks she’s alone in a giant island mansion. But in the basement she finds a hunky vampire chained to a table and the life mate chemistry between them is immediate. The two of them have to work together to discover why Dressler has placed them alone on this island, and work through their relationships as life mates. As I said pretty good. Eager to read some of the earlier books because the later ones very much seem like cookie cutter, and fill in plots. I don’t mind they’re an easy read. Pretty much there’s a problem, they discover they’re life mates, have mind blowing sex, one of them gets turned vampire, then Lucian comes and fixes the problem. I like both Sarita and Domitian, a hot couple. I felt like I could hear Domitian’s accent which I loved. It’s a cute, and steamy romance. You get what you expect and I like them.

actually i think it might almost be the best book sands has ever written..............the beginning was a little slow, and the can't take my hands off you routine, had my eyes rolling, and the what are you waiting for? escape already..............................the why are you going to that island instead of escaping already.........................and the rescue was a little sudden, but all in all it was really good,it was a very much appreciated improvement over her earlier books, sands really did a good job with this one, and she also opens it up for a few more series but i'm not too interested in some of those, but spoiler here the ending leaves it open "to be continued" and we have to wait until sept 2017 HEY aleasts it's only a few months wait, yipee!
