Losing It Audiobook Summary

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller

Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible–a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half a brain would ever believe.

And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theater professor.

She’d left him naked in her bed about eight hours earlier. . . .

I absolutely loved this book. One of the few reads that have made me laugh out loud. And the steamy scenes? Yep. They were hot. But it was so much more than that. My new favorite book of the year.

Ok. This is one of those books that stays with you. In fact, I immediately went back to reread a couple parts as soon as I was done last night, at like 3 am, and then again this morning. The main character's name is Bliss. For one, I'm so jealous that I didn't think to name a character that. I LOVE it. She reacted to things the way I would have. I love the theater\acting stuff that was talked about. The plot twist with the play and her best friend Cade was genius. I want to go to college with this girl and be her friend. And then Garrick... he was so normal!! He was seriously sweet, he was British, he got mad, he apologized and then got mad again when she kicked his ego a little bit, he was a typical male who was very interested in certain parts of her anatomy. I like that he was so normal and had to do a little "I'm Sorry" in the end. And these two, when they got together to kiss or other things, holy moly. Like really, the air in my living room started to crackle. Those parts were SOO well written that I lost touch with reality for a minute. I loved how she was so open about her virginity in the end and they kind of embraced it. Garrick was such a gentleman. And the ending\epilogue was so good. This is a New Adult\Adult book for sure, but even though the sex was descriptive, it wasn't crude. 5 must-have-on-my-shelf-pronto, swoon swoon swoon, bff MC material, will re-read more than once, way to write a book, stars from me.

I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book. "Stop! Cats! Stop!" may be my new favorite line (if you've read the book, you know what I mean ;)). It also gave me "One More Chapter" disease, because despite being tired when I picked it up, I kept reading until I was done. Very romantic and very funny.

So I think I'm losing it, or have lost it...whatever.And by it, I mean my damn mind. My head. My train of freaking thought.I feel like I've just stepped out of washing machine and my thoughts need to be wrung out of me like water.I really loved this book. God only knows why I've been putting it off. Maybe it was the fear that the teacher-student dynamic could only be done a finite number of times before it became predictable. Or the doubt that the protagonist being a virgin would make her shy and quiet, an identity I read about on regular occasion and am growing bored of.It is nothing like that at all.Simple facepalm-worthy moments, hotter-than-a-thousand-suns scenes and proof that I shouldn't always trust my instinct. The only complaint I have is that I wish it would have been longer.(And who doesn't love a good Emma Stone gif to summarise my feelings.)

Sex. I was going to have sex. With a boy. A hot boyA hot BRITISH boy. Or maybe I was going to throw up. What if I threw up on the hot British boy? What if I threw up on the hot British boy DURING SEX? 5 out of 5 stars. It's reccomended for adult people but I think it's more +16.The synopsis of the book made me to want to read the book like a man who is dying from thirst wants water. What can I say?I am a sucker for this kind of setuations. He stood and offered me his arm.“My lady?” “You don’t want to finish our drinks?” He took my hand, and pressed his lips against the inside of my wrist.“I’m already intoxicated.” Bliss decides that she does not want to be a virgin anymore and picks up a guy from the bar she went with Kelsey, her friend. While they are hot and heavy she freaks out and leaves him.In her apartment.Garrick except from be the guy Bliss decides that he is the one to take her virginity also happens to be her teacher and neighbor.First it's a little awkward but things change as the time passes.Cade is Bliss's friend and secretly he has feelings for her. When he admits them his relationship with Bliss changes and that made is the only part I didn't liked in the book.I have seen before best friends falling in love with each other and I didn't want to see that here because I am i love with Garrick and I don't want to see him hurt.Note:there is no triangle in this book. Friendships fall apart. Some relationships just end.Like a star, they burn bright and brilliant, and then nothing in particular goes wrong, they just reach their end. They burn out.I couldn’t fathom my friendship with Cade being over. "Professor I’m sex incarnate and could probably get you pregnant just by looking at you.Seriously, that first day when he spoke, I think his accent alone nearly gave me an orgasm.” Garrick is hot.He has british accent, blond hair and blue eyes and I wish my teachers were like that. “What? Just because I can’t have you right now, doesn’t mean I’m okay with him having you?" Bliss a control freak, she gets very nervous and overthinks things. The time she spends after meeting Garrick will change her a little and will make her see things a little bit different. “Let me get this straight… you didn’t have a cat? Did you get a cat just so that you wouldn’t have to tell me you were a virgin?” The title is very fit to the content of the book and the cover is nice.It was fun and I loved reading it.It has some beautiful quote(the phrases with bold) and here are some more: “I just… I get what it’s like to want something, but to try and force yourself toreally believe that you don’t. It doesn’t even have to be about love. It’s about wanting something you can’t have or something you don’t think you deserve. Hell, we want the parts that our friends get, even though they’re our friends and we should be happy for them. We sit in the audience and think about how we would have done a role. We want what we can’t have. It’s human nature.” "Its not that I don’t like cats. And really, I think I would enjoy having… a cat. But what if I get a cat before I’m ready? What if I choose the wrong cat? Or what if I’m bad at it… being a cat owner, I mean?” (she is not talking about cats, cats here)And a song No matter how close, you are always too farMy eyes are drawn everywhere you areI’m tired of the way we both pretendTired of always wanting and never givingI can feet it in my skin, see it in your grinWe are more. We always have beenThink of everything we’ve missed.Every touch and every kiss. Because we both insist. ResistHold your breath and close your eyesDistract yourself with other guysIt’s no surprise, your defeated sighsAren’t you tired of the liesThink of everything we have missedEvery touch and every kiss. Because we both insistResistNo matter how close, you are always too farMy eyes are drawn everywhere you areI am done.I wont ignoreI wont pretend or resistI want more

"Losing it – Cine zice că e simplu prima oară?" este un roman pe care îl citești cu sufletul la gură, un romance contemporan, un young-adult plin de savoare. Dacă este prima carte pe care o citești, a autoarei, ești uimit de felul în care scrie și de situațiile aparte în care își pune personajele. Dacă ai mai citit ceva scris de penița ei agilă, nu-ți rămâne decât să savurezi cu plăcere povestea! Recenzia mea completă o găsiți aici: https://justreadingmybooks.wordpress....

I'm happy to say that this is one of the rare books that I think is better on audio than it would have been reading it. Which was lovely, because for the longest time, the cover made me cringe, and kept me from giving it a shot. Who wants their visuals of the sexy teacher in a teacher/student romance to look like a pale, scrawny fourteen year old? Not me. Interestingly enough, this must not have been my sentiment alone because there are two cover versions. This: and this: Much improved!!Okay, moving on. (I feel so shallow, but cover love, I had not.)Quick recap of the story: Bliss is a twenty-something senior theater major in college and somehow still holding on to her V-card. Every parent's dream, eh? But she's determined to finally lose the pesky thing and with the help of her best friend, goes trolling in the bar one night. With a little more help in the form of liquid courage, she meets a man...reading a book in the bar, who opens his sexy mouth and out comes a British accent along with a smile and definite interest in his eyes. I was going to have sex. With a boy.A hot boy.A hot BRITISH boy.Or maybe I was going to throw up.What if I threw up on the hot British boy? What if I threw up on the hot British boy DURING SEX?”One thing leads to another, and the next morning, she walks into class and guess who teach is? Yep, the dude from last night. So I enjoyed this story so much more than I thought I would. There are some really iffy reviews out there but I connected with both Bliss and Garrick. Both are really great people. No one does anything totally stupid, Bliss doesn't act like a complete pushover. In fact, this was quite the easy book to sink into. I enjoyed the theater angle of the story. You could tell that the author feels a passion for it. It was interesting to get a different perspective on it, to get some insight on how hard it must be for people who love the stage to choose that as a career, knowing that the likelihood of making a living in the performing arts is not the most reliable choice...that they may have to settle for production or stage management and watch someone else live out their dreams.Bliss' inner dialogue was hilarious at times. She's not the most confident of people but she doesn't come across as a complete tool either. She's a bit shy, not quite sure of herself but not a doormat either. I love how she tended to just blurt out the most random things when she was nervous or backed into a corner. One such word explosion of which ended up in Bliss owning a cat named Hamlet that really hated her. She has a really great group of friends, which brings me to my one point of contention with the story. (view spoiler)[ I really hated that her best friend, the guy one, ends up crushing on her and then being all upset when she wants to keep it just friends. (hide spoiler)] It's not so much that I hated it as a plot device, but it was just so awkward, and was the biggest wrench in the story...even more so than the teacher thing. That relationship always felt inevitable to me. Predictable? Yes, but the story was lovely anyways. Will I continue the series? Definitely. I honestly did not expect to enjoy this nearly as much as I did. The whole "New Adult" romance concept just did not appeal to me. Yet I kept seeing this particular book popping up amongst others in my circles. Once I read the summary, idle curiosity took over. All I can really say is I am very glad to have given this book a chance! I flew through this book! Especially the second time! It was so good! I needed all the laughs this gives me. It sends me to a happy place and is a new favorite as a go-to when depressed. The concept alone made me smile. I mean, a woman hooks up with a guy just to find out he's her teacher? A bit cliche but also sounded a bit comical based on what I had heard. Yes there is comedy, but there is also a lot more depth than I expected. Yet by no means was this a heavy read. It was quite lighthearted. Her guy ditching excuse has me nearly doubled over! Yet here sweet side and inner personality had me liking her immediately. The realistic setting creates the perfect blend for the theme. Although I can hardly believe they played spin the bottle in college. I loved being inside Bliss's head she is so amusing yet endearing and reminds me of one of my closest friends in a lot of ways. She also has some amazing friends and has apparently good taste in guys. The problem is what is a girl to do when he is her TEACHER! College or not, that can equal trouble, yet Garrick and Bliss can't seem to keep away from each other. Throw in your friends and a drama production and hilarity can (and will) ensue! Not to mention how HOT Garrick is! I do not swoon over guys in books easily. His character is swoon worthy!Cora Carmack writes with a great sense of humor. While the story is mostly down to Earth, the style and flare with which it is told is fantastically amusing. I was either grinning or laughing my way through most of this book! Please note, the humor is not a full comedy. It is subtle, and sweet and wonderful for the most part. I highly recommend it for older teens-adults. It is a quick read, hard to put down and will surely lighten your heart! Cora Carmack is an author to continue reading for sure! Ladies, do not miss this read!I liked reading this more for myself. I liked how my mind worked in the expression and pauses more. The audio was okay and I still laughed at parts but it wasn't as cute and amusing. I didn't get the very end. We get a separate narrator for Garrett but not until then. Pointless and unneccessary. Some favorite quotes:“It wasn’t until I’d walked halfway across the parking lot that I realized: 1. I wasn’t wearing shoes.A. Or a shirt.2. I didn’t bring my keys A. Or anything really.3. I’d just left a complete stranger in my apartment. A. Naked.Whoever said one-night stands were supposed to be simple with no strings attached had clearly never met the disaster that was me.” “Oh, I burned it with my straightener.”“You burned your leg with your straightener? How long is your leg hair?” “He was flabbergasted. That was the best word. His flabber had been thoroughly gasted.”

New adult books have seriously been catching my attention recently, so when I saw this one, I knew I had to read it. And who wouldn't want to read about a girl falling for her yummy British theater professor? Sounds like my kind of man!Bliss is entering the final semester of her senior year and there's one problem: She's still a virgin. Determined to change that, Bliss let's her best friend take her out the night before classes start. Many shots of tequila later, Bliss finds herself in a conversation with an extremely attractive British guy reading Shakespeare. Bliss and her new catch Garrick flirt incessantly until they find themselves back at Bliss's apartment. Just when things are getting hot and heavy, though, Bliss freaks out, leaving the charming British guy all alone. The next day bliss wakes up with a serious hangover and feeling like a total idiot. Just when things can't get any worse, Bliss walks into her theater class taught by none other than Garrick, the guy from last night. How can Bliss survive the semester in a class taught by a guy she most definitely can't get out of her head? Oh boy, if I were Bliss I would seriously fall as deep as she did. Come on, a British theater professor who reads Shakespeare named Garrick? Who wouldn't fall for that? I was a little worried that the whole student-falls-for-the-teacher thing would be cliche, but that was definitely not the case here. Bliss was a really great character to read about and I loved how she was a theater major who wasn't sure if she wanted to be on stage or behind the scenes. All of her friends are awesome and add their own unique part to the story. Her relationship with Cade adds a whole other element to the plot, which definitely made her relationship with Garrick a whole lot more complicated. There were scenes in the book that were just so darn cute that I still can't get over them. Garrick is seriously the perfect guy. And I loved the whole college atmosphere of this book. With the theater focus, the story was a lot more interesting and unique and I could not put it down. I couldn't wait to see how Garrick and Bliss would handle their feelings for each other, not only because of that one super embarrassing night but also because of the whole student-professor deal. There was just so much to obsess over in this book!In the end, though, I wish more had happened and that the book had gone on longer than only 184 pages. I wanted so much more of Bliss and gorgeous Garrick! I would still recommend this book to any New Adult fan. You get a very complicated relationship with a very yummy guy. What more could you ask for in a book?
