The Whole Enchilada Audiobook Summary

Caterer and sleuth extraordinaire Goldy Schulz jumps from the frying pan into the fire as she tries to solve a puzzling murder that is much too close to home, in this latest entry in the New York Times bestselling series from “today’s foremost practitioner of the culinary whodunit” (Entertainment Weekly).

Goldy Schulz knows her food is to die for, but she never expects one of her best friends to actually keel over when she’s leaving a birthday party Goldy has catered. At first, everyone assumes that all the fun and excitement of the party, not to mention the rich fare, did her in. But what looks like a coronary turns out to be a generous serving of cold-blooded murder. And the clever culprit is just getting cooking. When a colleague–a woman who resembles Goldy–is stabbed, and Goldy is attacked outside her house, it becomes clear that the popular caterer is the main course on a killer menu. With time running out, Goldy must roll up her sleeves, sharpen her knives, and make a meal out of a devious murderer, before that killer can serve her up cold.

A fitting end to a good series. I will miss reading more of Goldy's antics! Perhaps it will come back again... :( The characters were always so vivid. About Me For those new to me or my reviews... here's the scoop: I read A LOT. I write A LOT. And now I blog A LOT. First the book review goes on Goodreads, and then I send it on over to my WordPress blog at https://thisismytruthnow.com, where you'll also find TV & Film reviews, the revealing and introspective 365 Daily Challenge and lots of blogging about places I've visited all over the world. And you can find all my social media profiles to get the details on the who/what/when/where and my pictures. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Vote in the poll and ratings. Thanks for stopping by. Note: All written content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. Like Jessica Fletcher, dead bodies appear wherever Goldy is, which is a definite negative when she is holding her catering events. I am not sure which takes up more of her time, catering or investigating murders. Light and breezy, this novel is filled with appealing characters and encourages you to play "Who done it".

Goldy Schulz is at it again in the latest book in the series. When her good friend Holly dies after leaving her son’s birthday party, Goldy discovers that there was a lot going on in Holly’s life that Goldy knew nothing about. Goldy and Holly met when they gave birth to their sons at the same time and discovered that they were both married to Doctors, and not the nicest men to boot. Over the years they had lost touch with each other but Goldy considered Holly one of her most important friends and is devastated by her death.AS we would expect, Holly’s death is actually a murder and Goldy is determined to help her husband Tom solve the case. After she has a dangerous accident at Holly’s house, Goldy gets a 24/7 police escort in Officer Boyd. Goldy, her friend Marla, her fellow caterer Julian, and even Boyd becomes a mobile unit asking questions all over town and stirring up lots of trouble. Goldy finds out more about Holly than she would ever have wanted to know and many lives will be impacted by the information she uncovers. There are several side stories going on that have a relationship to the murder but also cause problems that aren’t related.I really love Tom’s character and would have liked to see more of him in the book. However, his part in the story might be small in time but ultimately BIG in impact on Goldy’s future. I enjoy the fact that he has learned to just let Goldy loose when it comes to a murder because she will do what she wants with or without his permission. Tom does the best he can to protect her and Goldy does take precautions so Tom doesn’t have to worry as much. Long time readers will be happy to see the usual cast of characters we have come to know so well but new readers will find the book easy to follow without too much backstory. The ending will satisfy everyone and the recipes at the end of the book look really yummy!

The latest in the Goldy Bear Culinary Series and it certainly delivers. As usual, Goldy is involved in aiding the local law enforcement establishment in solving crimes such as murder, attempted murder and even blackmail. Goldy herself is the target of a murderer who believes she is in possession of information very vital to him. With her trusted friend Marla, business associate, Julian, Police detective husband and others, she is off to solve the murder of her special friend Holly and the vicious attack on the beloved Episcopalian priest Father Peter. The story begins at the beginning of the summer at a birthday part for her son and the son of her friend Holly. At the end of the party Holly dies and the mystery begins. The search for information takes Goldy down memory lane back to when she and Holly were young doctor's wives. At loose in Aspen Meadow is a person intent of murder and mayhem and Goldy and her crew are trying hard to solve the puzzle while at the same tie running a busy catering service. Some new twists and surprises in this book that will make quite a difference in the Schulz household. Fun, interesting. suspenseful and intriguing read---with several great recipes included.

This is my first of the series of 17 Goldie Shultz culinary mysteries. It was easy to jump right in. Would I read others? – Sure, if the price was right. I think what makes this series great is 1) you don’t have to go through a lot of back story to get to the current story. 2) You can pick up in the middle and all the characters feel like old friends. 3) No stress reading and no one is schooling you on technical skills. This story is enjoyable and fun, despite its rather improbable events. Goldie Shultz caters a birthday dinner for a family member which results in the death of a friend. Goldie and her friend Marla set off to find the cause of the death with the assistance of her police chief husband and way to many of his staff to be reasonable.I think Barbara Rosenblat did a perfect job with narration. Yeah, her teenage boy voices were a bit rough but, so are teenage boys. The writing is clumsy. There are way too many characters in this story to keep track of, for me. The author must cook by magic for she puts parties together between lots of breaks and through a lot of physical injury. When you go into a book like this,I think one doesn’t expect C.S. Lewis, but rather something light and fun. I loved all the Denver references too.

As far as I know, this is the last book Diane Mott Davidson wrote about Goldy the caterer from Aspen, Colorado. I have loved ALL of Ms. Davdison's books about this woman and the recipes she includes in the books. The series takes us from Goldy's days married to "the Jerk", an abusive husband through over 15 years. She struggles to support her only son, starts a catering business, finds a superb assistant, marries a cop, enjoys her successful business and lives happily ever after in the series of books. Every book contains a murder mystery and the recipes she cooks for catering during that book.

Full Circle I've been a fan of Diane Mott's culinary mysteries for years but this one is a gift. Always intriguing and fun to read, Goldy has such gumption and class while finding out who-dun-it. I enjoy all the characters and their journeys but this one was the icing of the cake. I hope it isn't the last for Goldy, Tom, Marla, Julian and the rest because this particular mystery, although mournful, was so healing and triumphant in the end. Strong to say for a cozy mystery series? Maybe... But I loved it!

I've read all of the Goldy mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson. Tough Cookie, Double Shot, and The Whole Enchilada are my favorites! I loved how the characters were developed in this story. Friendships over the years really do change so much, at one point you feel like best friends, at another, you feel like you barely know them. I think this is a wonderful mystery by Diane Mott Davidson with the true nature of friendship woven throughout the story!
