With dozens of mystery and romance novels published in over forty languages, Janet Evanovich, also known under her nom de plume Steffie Hall, has become virtually synonymous with her genres. About Janet Evanovich

Janet Evanovich (née Schneider) was born in South River, New Jersey, in 1943, to a family of first-generation immigrants. She attended high school in South River and eventually enrolled at Douglas College to study art, becoming the first member of her family to achieve higher education.

She married her husband, Pete Evanovich, in ’64, and when children graced her life, she decided to dedicate herself to the household. Her artistic impulses never waned, however, and she dedicated a lot of her efforts to writing.

Her ambitions were high from the beginning. For years she tried writing the next Great American novel, but after a series of rejections and a suggestion that she should try writing romance stories, she gave genre fiction a shot and realized she enjoyed it more than she had thought.
